Question about tattoo etiquette

I'm getting a fairly large size tattoo done this weekend. Due to the size, the first sitting will be just the outline. My tattoo artist has drawn up a sketch of what the overall design will look like (not drawn to scale), and I'd like to ask him for a copy of the drawing after we've completed the first session, just as a novelty for me. I'll be paying around $900 (tip included) for this first sitting...not sure if that has any bearing. What do you think? Is it bad to ask for a copy of the design. I have no intentions of taking the sketch to anyone else.
Not at all. If he's doing a custom piece for you, he shouldn't have any problem giving you the design. I give any of my customers that want it the original. Less for me to throw away, and since it's custom, it's not like i'm going to use it again anyway.
Krystof is 100% right, i draw alot of custom designs for customers and finish them out in color pencils. and most of the time, when i'm done with a tattoo i offer that customer the design.
How large is this project of yours? Oh, I would expect that you get a copy. I mean it was your custom work, that was orderd right?
MUST BE A HUGE TATTOO......... $900 FOR THE OUTLINE
Just did lines on a piece yesterday...charged $1200...TAz
900.00 should include the design as well.
Now how could you possibly know that? you do not know the calibre of artist...the actual artwork..the location of the shop (which makes a BIG difference in price) etc..etc...etc... THere are far too many variables in this equation for you to make a statement like that!...TAz
Not sure if that was directed towards me. But at any rate don't need to know dick about the artist or the situation. Who holds on to custom artwork? He'd be a slefish prick if after 900 he refuses to give the guy the design.
No I was adrresing the other... ANYWAY....Yeah I agree he should get his artwork
OK I... Fuck it...we got wires crossed somewhere!!!LOL!!
