GOD I LOVE THIS JOB!! seriously though this is a valid question and i will give you a valid answer. i too was wondering the same thing a while back as i was being bombarded by the question.so i did some research on this matter and the fact is this a doctor can give you a self felt opion on this and as doctors are still leary and questionable on most tattoo artist so this was directed to a hospitial administraitor. a administrator cannot give false self opionated statements they must remain neautral and ohnest it is also illegal for the admin to lie.so with that short theory said this is what was told to me.reciving a tattoo in the lower back area of said body pertaining to eperdurals in no way affects the bodys nervous system or duties of such a procedure to be done therefore the procedure can be performed with no difficulty whatsoever as far as pertaining to the tattoo area.now think about it they numb you in the upper low back not the low part where most tattoos are placed when my wife had her block it was regioned more towards t-5 and not down in the lower l regions of the back so even if you were full back piece tattoo you could still recive a eperdural but please if you are pregant wait until after the child is born before reciving any ink work best of luck laters
I have about 1/3 of my back covererd and the epidural wasnt a problem, the 38 hours of labor before hand was much more of an issuse to my midwives
