R.I.P. Walter Moskowitz

I just got this message from Top Hat Tattoo in NYC, unfortunate news to say the least: Whats up friends family fellow tattoo artist and collectors.Well its a sad time in the tattoo community A TRUE GOOD person and long time tattoo artist from NYC,WALTER MOSKOWITZ has passed on last night .WALTER AND HIS BROTHER STANLEY STARTED IN THE BOWERY WITH THERE DAD OVER 50 YRS AGO "THE BOWERY BOYS" BROUGHT THE FIRST TATTOO SHOP ON LONG ISLAND MUCH RESPECT TO MY FRIEND WALTER AND HIS FAMILY ALTHOUGH HE WAS 30 YRS OLDER THAN ME W SHARED STORIES FOR THE COUPLE YEAR WE WORKED TOGETHER. HE WAS A GREAT PERESON SOMEONE WHO WAS THE TRUE MEANING OF OLD SCHOOL.WE WILL MISS YOU DEARLY MY FRIEND .I DO KNOW THE ARRANGEMENTS IF ANYONE WANT TO KNOW THE FUNERAL WILL BE ON TUESDAY 2-6-07 .OUR HEARTS AND PRAYERS GO TO HIS FAMILY ,MARC

All my respects and sympathies to the family of Walter Moskowitz Walter was a great guy and full of tattoo stories from the REAL old school. I haven't seen or spoken to Walt for many years but he has remained an inspiration to me and many others in tattooing. God bless...TAz

As Walter's granddaughter, it is truly amazing to google his name and find so many acknowledgments of his life and death.On behalf of my entire family, I would like to thank of you for this, as you will all help to keep his memory alive.This brings us comfort during the darkest and sadness time of our lives. THANK YOU
