Raised/Bumpy tattoo after tanning

I had my tattoo for nearly a year without any problems (a two headed eagle), until I tanned in a tanning bed. Now it is raised,bumpy, and itches, but it seems to be only the red blended ink. For the past 6 months, i have applied a lot of different creams, some were prescription from my doctor. He says it's an alergic reaction to the ink. Hydrocortisone helped some, but as soon as I stop using it, the tattoo flares back up! I did use a sunblock on the tattoo on the tattoo while using the bed! Any suggestions??? This is frustrating.

I've talked to many artists and collectors about this irritation issue and found that many people deal with this puffy reaction as i do myself...advice don't mess with it just let it be and it will return back to normal and even puff up a little every once in a while...try some I believe it's Palmers coca butter lotion, good stuff might help. otherwise it's fairly normal i've learned.

Ask your artist what brand/colors he used.
