Recommended tattoo artist in Toronto/Hamilton area?

26 messages · last activity 10/22/2011

I'm looking to get some fine detailed work done. I have a sketch on hand, I'd like to give the artist my idea and let him/her get creative with it. I've been quite pleased with my tattoos to date done by Jim from Metal n Ink in Hamilton, I'm just looking to get a feel for other tattooists out there, especially artists familiar with doing small detailed work. I'm not sure if anyone in here is from the area ..recommendations? I'd appreciate hearing your experiences. Thanks.
Check out pete at Passage Tattoo and/or Tat A Rama. Let them know we sent you, and let us know how it goes, we havnt talked to em in person yet.
I am also lookin to get a tatto done up, some black and grey work though i have a sketch made out and i was wondering if u can reccomend any artists in the mississauga, toronto, oakville area, that specialize in black and grey work. thank u
jay,at passage is really good, and a nice guy.also Rob Coutts,at www.bobbyfive.com and the guy's at TCB Tattoo are all good..their site is www.scottmcewantattoos.com and check out kingoffools.com only shane's work is up on the site, but go to the shop, and look at the other artists portfolios.i was in toronto a few weeks ago,and was in the eaton center, and this girl had some nice traditional work by jeff beckman,at sinkin ink,in hamilton,ot.go to all the shops, and meet the artists, and check their work out.and see who's style u like, and what artist u feel comfortable with.
I highly recommend Tsunami from Halo Body Art in Toronto if you are looking for a one of a kind design. He has worked all over the world and is incredibly open and interesting. You may have to wait a couple weeks to get an appointment but it's definitly worth it. He's done 2 black/grey midsize tattoos on my back that flow seamlessly together and I love them. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. His site is: www.halobodyart.com
Hey guys, If you are serious about gettin this ink.. then May I suggest a roaf trip to CFB Petawawa! Just outside of the gate of the base, Lisa & Ivan run the Wizzards Den. They do GREAT work! but being right beside a military base, they fill up pretty quick, so give em a call first! Trust me, well worth the drive. I used to travel from Brampton to go up to the wizzards den to get ink. Baker sendz..........
Lets not forget that Bob Tyrell is now in Toronto....

The best work I've seen so far is at Yonge St. Tattoo. Look at the shop artists portfolio. Some of the best realism I've seen so far. Look especially at Thor's work. Not necessarily the content but his technique is quite impressive. Perspective, texture, shading. Some of the other artists are great as well. Notably Jacqueline and Pauline. I'm going there this weekend to meet them and for a quote and appointment on some work I want done.
Probably one of the best shops to go to right now is a fairly new shop. LOCO TATTOOS on 187 Ottawa st .N in Hamilton. They have 3 artists there. Gary, the owner , has been tattooing for close to 15 years in Europe and at renowned ontario shops in Niagara Falls , Toronto and Hamilton before he opend up his own place a year and a half ago. Ruud has been tattooing for well over 10 years in Holland out of his own shop before he ended up with LOCO TATTOOS where he is now a permanent artist. And Lance is the young gun at the shop...he just came from Nova Scotia , where he started tattooing in 2005. Gary and Lance als take care of your piercing needs. Between the 3 of these artists every style is covered. They offer excellent Custom tattooing. The Flash designs at the shop is not what you everywhere else in town. And ofcourse you can bring in your own ideas. www.locotattoos.com or check them out on Facebook groups and myspace.
Malefic Tattoos is Mississauga is one of the best shops in the GTA. Check out Fabien and Julia Madeleine, they are the artists. Their work is amazing. They have been in Mississauga for about 17 years and everyone I know goes there is totally happy with the quality of their work. Here is their website www.malefictattoos.com
TCB Tattoo http://www.scottmcewantattoos.ca/ Bill Baker ( private studio in Kensington Mrkt) Daniel Innis http://www.danielinnes.com/bio.html Tat-a-rama in Etobicoke Bobbyfive Sadly with any great artist, expect LONG waiting lists. I think Rob at Bobby five does the best with black and grey, fine realistic tats. But the wait is crazy for new clients. Of course Bob Tyrel as well, but good luck getting an appointment.

I also have job done by two different "artist" in Metal n Ink. That was a very bad idea. None of them were good. They didn't follow the schech and/or the details on it. I went with the second "artist" actually to get a cover up, and it got worse. Now, a year later, I am looking for a real artist who can fix the mess this guys made in my arm. So please wherever you go.....don't go to Metal n Ink in Hamilton.........I might be one of the few unhappy with their work but...what about if you are the next???? Don't take that chance.

Go to Loco Tattoo's in Hamilton. 124 Ottawa Street North. Either Gary or Char can do an amazing job. Char's done 1 tat for me, is designing a few more currently, and did an amazing fix job on a tat I got elswhere. They're open tues-sat 12-8. Great shop, friendly people, clean (Health Board sends people to Gary for training on following health laws/guidelines) and best of all.. the work speaks for itself. http://www.locotattoos.com Hope this helps you out

Very clean, l;ooks like a hospital inside and everything was openned in front of me , and thrown out after our session. Do not know their website, but can be found easily enough on google.
