Well just a note to everyone and anyone with any skin in the Ottawa area. If you plan on a tattoo this would be one of the last places to go. Definately on the bottom 10 lowest places to go. If you are stupid then feel free...but this is just a warning. Portraits...hahaha, this guy cant draw, cant tattoo, i would never go back even if everyone in ottawa paid me $1000. He is a JOKE!!!
Reverend Tat2 Dave.....well i dont think hes a reverend and well he does have tattoos so i guess he can call himself tat2 dave....hes not a tattoo artist....an artist needs to be able to draw... hes not a tattooist... a tattooist should be able to tattoo.
Hes a Kitchen scratcher who got lucky.....
i needed to get laser treatment to remove his shit..the worst tattoo i ever had...i wish i took the time to travel from orleans to go somewhere else.
just a warning to anyone thinking of this closet of a parlour.
Well, Grymm... I appreciate any and all input, unfortunate that you are in dire need of professional psychiatric help. Good luck with that! In actuality,i am in fact an Ordained Minister of Christian faith, also a Dr. of Metaphysics, have been in the industry for 15 years, and provide the city's best service in this industry. I encourage you to come and meet with me PERSONALLY.. and check out the studio for the fist time..as clearly you have never been!! haha.. and also, be sure to check out the website.... www.sacredarttattoo.ca
And perhaps get a portrait tattoo...! We Set The Standard. PERIOD. And THOUSANDS of people nationwide concur. Cheers! And God Bless you.
SACRED ART CUSTOM TATTOO AND PIERCING STUDIO rocks anybody wanting to get some ink done should definatly check this studio out, its the bomb!!!!
Well Dr. Rev. Tat2 Dave. Im currently checking out your website, what the hell is up, your tattoo with the heading "betty" looks like a transexual on crack....why would anyone let someone get a tattoo like that.
Man you shouldnt be tattooing, look at your "pin-up gals" is that a joke of some sort, people should check out good artists online....
Check out Miami Ink, Paul Booth, Tattoo Mania (Montreal), Mr. Cartoon, and you can get more links from these sites
VORPAL BLADES!!! hahaha worst tattoo ive ever seen in my life
Angel/Devil.....what is up with those designs.....that person must of been on crack or really really persistant to get a shitty picture on them.....shouldnt you advise your clients...(unfortunately you have some) that you cant draw and you should go somewhere else if they have a shitty drawing and you cant make it look good.
I havnt seen the tattoos in question, but I do know that pointing to Maimi Ink and Mr. Cartoon asd the best tattooing has to offer is very very shallow.
check out his site Gabe, ottawa has a great handful of great tattoo artists, just check out his site
WOW i have a feeling "grymm" that u have just had a bad experience wherever ur getting ink dont nd ur just taking it out on all the shops in ottawa, sacred art is a great place to get work done, im totally stoked on what ive gotten there!!!!
Question
Why did you (Rev.Dave) say that perhaps get a portrait tattoo?. I checked the gallery and there wasnt a single portrait picture in there...
And another thing. You say that you set the standard. Well, does that standard include people like Steve Moore www.getmooretattoos.com?
Hahaha. Well grym. The Betty piece and vorpal blades you are referring too are both my tattoos and anyone that I have shown them to has been blown away be the detail and care the Rev.Dave puts into his work. When you come into the shop he greets everyone with a smile and has no problem showing people how clean his shop is and how much he cares.
he has some decent stuff in there...but like phyruss said where are all the portraits...i didnt see one...rev. im not hating on you but you kinda shot yourself in the foot on this one...
just found this discussion board and checked out this sacredart site. guy, vorpal blades looks really horrible, how can someone hold swords like that in the first place, why dont you stand infront of a mirror and try to do what he is doing. impossible unless you have dislocated wrists. personally i think this shop is some sort of joke
OMFG!
Kind of have to agree with Kandyman on that one...wow.
I wonder what Steve Hayworth or Allen Falkner would have to say about their suspension "portfolio."
All I was able to see at www.sacredarttattoo.ca was a non sense of depth.
Before talking about portraits, I would like to see "smooth grey washes" because it's obvious that there is no experience with b/w work, at least for what I was able to see on the sites.
Not to be negative but this way of soliciting businesses and the poor quality of your tattoos, do make you look like a desperate person trying to break in.
As far as setting the standard....was that an aprils fool joke??? because it was a good one!
and I just checked the studio area: !!! how can they offer such a limited and uncomfortable space for both, tattooist and clients...No further questions...
Hi, I was in with my 51 year old mother yesterday since she wanted some ink done, she got 2 small tats. I found the shop to be very clean, and all the staff to be very nice and professional. Dave's work was very nice, both my mother and I are very happy and impress with the work and service. I will be returning shortly to have more work done on myself.
your shop sucks you do horrable art and you've tattoo someone after you smoke your self up on splife that's really good work hahaha your shop should be taken away from just because your a danger to your self and the people you work you've tattoo someone under the influence and the one tattoo artist that has the most people that hated getting a tattoo from or what's to get thier tattoo removed or coved up from you.
I am pretty much speechless. For those few people who thinks this guy is a good artist. You obviously DO NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GARBAGE AND GOOD INK. Good luck strolling in public with your garbage because it just makes good art obvious. Enjoy your junk tattoos. Hahahahahh.
I'm no expert but I have a few tattoos and always do a lot of research on any artist I get work by, the pictures on www.sacredarttattoo.ca do not look very good. Could be just bad camera work or bad tattoo work. My guess is bad tattoo work.
seems like a laid back shop and hey he is a rev...cool with me..im starting out and wonder if hes only looking for a ink man or willing to train...would build needles in a jig all day for a chance to learn..y trash a local artist? if you guys are so good start posting your tattoos..i got a few by me and local artists..you ever think maybee some work posted is not his? im sure there is more than just one ink man..hey rev need a aprent willing to work free with gear and limited trainig?drop me a line..know the basics like outliners and round for shading and 7 mag for coulor but would love a chance to learn without the dramma or bull of the bigger shops..know a bit on washes like water or glycrin mix...new to it all but grew up in halifax around a shop..would love to answer phones book set up work stations learn how to use a needle jig run a autoclave right and work with a pressure cook..need free labour this winter? ill have all tools then..right now im learning under the green brothers as much as i can from the old inner coulor..but its limited tips and tricks..would love a chance to get my foot into a laid back shop to learn..
too late i found a mentor...best part is its all classes and not this 2yr slave crap....i lucked out...tip for newbies..the machines like wasp off ebay are a great buy...not hard to change coils and spring..take my word for it..buy cheap and learn to build machines first..i did and all my answers were answered after i built my first machine...best part is my mentor let me keep it free...
changed my screen name sorry...was lone wolf ottawa
the only tattoo i actually liked on the whole site was the celtic cross and vorpal blades IS really bad. not bein rude just honest. no way in hell id let anyone there attempt a portrait on me.
This whole bit it retarded. I've heard nothing but great reviews about this place, and then when I try and find the number to the place I find this shit. People need to stop ragging on business, and people's aspirations. If someone wanted a fucking tattoo, no matter how obscene and awful, it's the responsibility of the artist to do so. I've been in the medical profession for 13 years and it's always client, patient first. Get your ass off of the fucking computer, stop drinking the booze, and collaborating with your friends about a great "burn" and find somewhere else to get a tattoo. You all suck. It's brutal that someone has to defend themselves against assholes like the previous posters. Now...can someone please just give me the number to this place?
-Angry Surgeon.
Angry...
If a shop is going to do "free" soliciting on someone else's board, they better be prepared for open, brutal, criticism...
The "standard" (artistically speaking) in Ottawa is obviously set by Steve Moore, not this other below average shop.
Keep it up Steve, great stuff!
I think most people's perception of good art can differ alot...I guess when your not around good art its easy to think that a stick person is the most amazing thing...until you see a real full body portait and you realize that the stick person looks like crap!!! Well...I did some nice pieces on your site. Some people might find most, if not all of your work very nice but I've been drawing as far as I can remember, and alot of your body proportions are way off and your perception of depth is also off. My specialty is pinups, japanese koi/dragons/peonys/samurais, animal portraits and native american art and from what I've seen, seems your more like a person who is a tattooer and not a tattoo artist. Of course many people who CAN'T draw and have NO artistic talent at all will undoubtedly say your stuff is amazing but seeing it through the eyes of a person who has really good drawing skills or can tell what things are SUPPOSED to look like are gonna have some bad things to say about your work! And... I do have to agree that that Betty pinup looks like a bodybuilder woman who's way too taned and is wearing pale pink lipstic...not unlike many cracked out ladies walking the streets of Vanier! The legs are not in proportion at all and neither is the torso. I mean, look at the stomach she looks like shes taking steriods! It looks like a man trying too hard to be a woman. The thighs are bent awkwardly as well. They're not supposed to arch upwards like that...thigh bones don't bend that way. period!!! Also, from what I've been able to see from the pictures... unless the camera makes shadding look off...I don't consider the b/w and color shading to be smooth and gradual. I actually haven't really seen any good examples of black wash in any of the pictures :S! I really had to mention the above because I just started tattoing after many years of drawing and my standards are not set by you at all... sorry. My standard is already set way higher and my standard for a Great artist is Chris Garver as I have similar style...I might be too hard on myself for setting such a high standard, but until I can get even close to him I will never consider myself ANYONE'S standard let alone the one for the city. Especially not with a picture gallery like the one you have! I was left in shock after seeing some things and I can't even grasp how some people can't even see it when some things aren't done properly! I mean, is this just a joke or are you really so confident that you are the Standard. If your the standard then its obviously easy to achieve and beat!!! its not a matter of it being YOUR style of drawing when things that should look a certain way don't look anything like it! And for everyone else who's blind and soo quick to say that its amazing and give hell to everyone negatively critisizing his work...grow up and do some research! Not all of the pictures I saw were bad but a few of them where not right at all and very embarassing to look at.
OH! I forgot to ask...why does vorpal blades have 2 sets of pecs??? I thought humans only had 1 set of pectorials and 2 nipples. Not another nipple-less set underneath...unless its some kinda of mutated-mammal-arch-angel... and don't tell me they're part of his abs he's already got 8, or 10 of em if I assume from the way the body is proportioned that there are 2 more underneath the sword and hand placed there... like there would normaly be. They shouldn't "skip" up higher cuz theyres an object in the way!!! And he has biceps but no shoulder muscles o.0 Anyways, I could say more but not my tattoo not my problem :)
human beings have 2 pectoral muscles. the upper and the lower. the division between can only be seen at very low percentages of body fat. the picture however is anatomically incorrect, as the uppers are far too large, and too low on the chest.
Well to be quite correct Bob there is 1 major pectoral muscle that is visible even in low body fat...and thats the sternocostal Pectoralis Major. The upper muscle you are refering to is acually part of the same muscle group only its referred to as the Clavicular Pectoralis major and located right underneath the clavicul. You are right about them being way too low. But either way, the clavicular pec does not protrude like that ever! regardless of body fat. what does get visible in the case of having a low percentage of body fat is the horizontal striation of the pectorals! As you'd notice in many bodybuilders. A 1 year anatomy and biology course will teach you that stuff, Im not saying everyone should go and take one but you can even find that info online pretty easily! Sorry to bust your bubble, If you were right I wouldn't be arguing the point but you shouldn't be telling me Im wrong without having some background in human anatomy. As you've clearly shown me you don't.
You know Im not normaly this much of a bitch to be quite frank but Im really insulted and offended by this rev. tat2 dave posting his work as being the standard...its not so much his work that's embarassing. If I hadn't seen the "We set the standard, period" line I would have walked away and never wrote a thing but it upsets me that he thinks he's the standard that's to be made! I mean that must be insulting to not only me but to many many artists that are worth getting tattooed by... that have great drawing skills and even with all that will never say they are the standard!!! So my appologies if I blew up on you Bob but a shop like Sacred Art gives a really bad name to the world of tattoing and it makes my blood boil a bit lol!
I heard that this place is a piece of garbage. I also heard that they dont wash there tools, ewww.
I've met this guy, never had any work don by him. But as a person he's a dick! He's burnt out all the time, a useless coke head, hassels younger kids, thinks he's king sh!t of Ottawa tattooing(as you can see by his rediculous posts) and is generally a mean person.I heard a story about him from one of his friends about him snorting a few lines of cocaine before tattooing a client. So if he's overly chatty when hes inking you thats why. Anyways if thats something and someone you want to support then go for it, personally I am steering clear that shop!!
OH MY GOD.... How old are all you people?..... Grow the fuck up.... Stop spending your day on your computer and try doing something useful for the world!! Why sit there and be negative??? Who really give a shit... people will pick where they want to go. I have 3 tattoos, all very shitty and from all different places in the city, im not gonna sit here and be negative and tell the places names, but they are all very popular places and how i got treated was another thing.... Like i was nobody... anyways to all you losers that have nothing better in life to do, remember this saying " If you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all"!! Thank you
very generic tattooing. This rip is nor about sucking or being a harm to themselves or whatever because what the fuck do you little retards care if buddy gets hep c and dies it aint your cock hes sucking when he goes home to his boyfriend. His tattoos lack any style or effort to enhance the persons body its just merely sticker art. If you want people to admire your art , create some fucking art. Not just half assed attempts at a passable tattoo to get them out of your shop without noticing you fucked up. Look at the for runners of the new age tattooing, study how and what they do an try to relate it not all of it but what you "get" out of it adapt your style by learning not just thinking you know what your doing bcause you dont there is no manual just suggestion.
P.s rusty trombone my asshole.
The Reverend started out in Ottawa at the age of 15, with a 5$ bill, and a dream to become something important. In my opinion, he did it. Hello all. The tattoos you are reffering to were done 15 years ago. I am the web developer, and I'm afraid that my pictures really did not do his work justice in the past, but for your own opinion, go to his shop, and talk to him or any of his amazing staff!. He's come a long way in 18 years, and I myself, wouldn't trust another living soul to give me body art. If I can say that, noone should be slandering his studio, his website, or his art without serious hurt. Who wants to answer to the big sis?
I think people have nothing better to do than complain.
If you don't like his work so much, move on, stop talking, and get some "amazing work" done somewhere else!!!
I was there just yesterday everning and was EXTREMELY impressed!
Not only was his work EXTREMELY good, the place was SUPER clean, and the servece was AWESOME!! Reverend Tat2 Dave was very professional, and yet very connected to the client.
As for that nonesense about smoking.... Whatever idiot brought it the smoking thing must not have too many tattoos!! I've been so many shops in Ottawa, and never seen a shop where there wasn't at least one artist who smokes. That comment was just petty, and made you sound pathetic.
