Alright. I got my tattoo this past tuesday. Some say it should scab over, some say to continue putting A and D on it for a full 2 weeks, some say it's not supposed to scab over, some say to only put A and D over it for the first few days. I am horridly confused. Can someone please give me some good accurate guidelines to go by? Tha tattoo is on my inner hip if anyone needs to know. Some quick advice would be appriciated. <333

Listen to your tattoo artist
If you trusted the artist to do the job, you should trust them on their aftercare. If you're second guessing their advice on caring for it, then why did you trust them to tattoo you? Most people that you talk to in bars, at parties friends and family members don't know anything about aftercare, but are more than willing to offer their advice. As Taz mentioned, listen to your artist.
thats just the thing...he told me to let it scab and flake off but to keep putting a and d on it all along....how can something scab when it is moist all the time...it makes no sense.
A scab is not dried blood as most people believe...a scab is HARDENED cell serum and skin cells...A scab can form whether you keep it moist or not however if a tattoo is done correctly and cared for properly scabbing should be minimal.
Can you e-mail me a pic of your tattoo?...if so I can probably tell you a bit more!...TAz, Painted Angel
I have had many Tattoo's done by many different artist's.. and I do not think that any two of them said the same exact thing in regards to aftercare! Of all the different methods that I have tried, I now which one worked best (worked best for ME that is) so I stick with that method all the time now!
But.. I suggest doing whatever the artist told you to do! If you do what he / she tells you, if there is a problem later they should have no problem fixin it! If you don't take care of it the way they tell you to, well..... they may not be too impressed with ya!
Just my 2 cents....

Yep, Do what he told you to do. Be absolutely sure that when you are putting ointment on, that you just use a DAB. Rub it in gently, you dont want goop all over the tat, it will leech out ink, and wont allow the skin to breathe.
You just want a slight sheen. If your clothes are sticking to you, you have put too much on.
