Hi. I just turned 18 and I want to get a large complex tattoo soon. I have been looking at the shops in San Diego County but just cant find an artist I realy like, or trust for that matter. Does anyone know of a good respected artist in San Diego? I got my first tattoo about 8 days ago at Inkers Tattoo in Lakeside, CA I am happy with it, but dont know if i want to do any complex projects with that artist. Seeing as how my first tattoo isnt quite what i expected. Thanks in advance! (A) // (E)
I would talk to Mike Sirot from Chronic Tattoo in San Diego. I recently recommended Mike to another visitor and they were very happy and are now changing tattoo artists (and sent me a very happy thank you email). Actually, here is the exact email! "Hello, I am not to sure who emailed me back when I had originally emailed TattooNOW.com with a question regarding a tattoo I was currently in the process getting - but just in case this email goes directly to the individual - I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!! My original email was regarding a tattoo I was getting where the artist had run over my skin with the needle and no ink (pretty much) stating they were prepping my skin for our next session (because my skin did not take ink well and this process would help in take the ink). Anyhow - when I emailed you guys about my concern, someone emailed me back stating I could go to Chronic Tattoo in San Diego and get an opinion there. I went, and this is where I am going to get my new work done. I was recommended to see Mike, who unfortunately couldn't help my situation (my tattoo is horrible, but thankfully it is workable, and not complete) but Mike gave me to another artist there who works a lot on the type of style of work I have started on the arm (fantasy/medieval). Regardless - thank you for the recommendation. The artist I was going to, I researched, I saw live work of, I looked at the portfolio and all (and I have seen work I LOVE by him done on others) - so my theory is he either didn't like me and wanted to intentionally ruin my arm, or just didn't have the skills to do what I wanted. It's damn embarrassing to walk into a shop with such horrible work done on my arm, but I am real pleased with the fact they can help - and I am leaving it in their hands. THANK YOU!!!!!"
Awesome. I will go down there tomorrow and check them out. Thank you! (A) // (E)

Most of my work has been done by various artists but the one that means the most to me is being done by Tattoo Mike at Chronic Tattoo in San Diego, CA. Yes, I do fly out to San Diego from GA to have the work done. Not only is Mike a friend of the family I respect his work as an artitst. I would deffinatly check him out if I were you.
