I am a self taught aspiring artist. I am not looking for any arguements or back and forth. Just real critique. I have been studying tattooing through videos and books. I have taken art classes at SCSU. I have been drawing for years. I know none of this makes me a tattoo artist , just giving a little background. I have built a studio in the basement of my home with sepearte entrance, sepearate bath, seperate sink(even though I only use disposables). I have completed the bbp course. I know I am referred to as a scratcher and accept it. I just would like honest opinions about my work and skill level...basically do I have what it takes to go forward in this industry or should I put the machine down? Now, Im not saying that any critique is going to take me out of the game. Just want to know where I stand. Also I have only been tattooing for 2 months.I would like an opinion on that alone...I would appreciate any input. thanks.

Man im not gonna lie to you, its a rough way to break into the business. Anybody trying to tattoo out of the house is automatically a pariah from professionals, kinda gives us a bad name. I spent a year of my life being a shop's bitch just for a little bit of information on how to tattoo properly. You honestly will never be taken seriously until you take a real apprenticeship.
People will take you serious if your good at what you do. I've done over 5 years as a child growing up watching my pops do tatts in and out of the shop. He made more $$ out the shop then he did in. It's the work you produce that will amke or break you. The only reason people who tatt from there house give pro's a bad name is because there are alot who suck!!! They scar people up with home mades and use risky cleaning tech's. You have a nice set up if that is what you have. Shit I would just pay the fee for the health department to come in and give you a grade. It's $500 a year here. Make sure you put out all types of work before you walk into a shop first. If your work is good you will get the spot. If not (which it already looks good),then all they can say is no. For those who are on this site being negitive and shit, STOP!!!! You act like you never tattooed outside a shop LOL!!!!!!!!
Thanks. Yeah its def my setup. spent 15k to finish basement. Thanks for the critique on work too. Will post more soon.

Lets see a link to your tattoos and art...
see i came in humle and respectful and you want to talk shit? bobcat fuck yourself. get at me . To gabe my facebook is Jess Desi..
Bobcat,, I have read and re-read your comment and on the off chance you were being honest and not sarcastic then I apologize. However I asked if I could have an honest critique of my work and skill level.. and only one person actually read and replied honestly to that question. I posted a polite respectful question and as you can see above have someone telling me I will never be an artist.lol Not because of my talent or maybe lack off, But because I dont work in shop. I am just looking for a honest opinion of my work based on the fact that I have only been doing this for two months. My artwork and ink can be seen at facebook...under Jess Desi. thank you.
Gabe, Any thoughts or comments on my tattoos or artwork?
