ok so i hope no one knows where i am apprenticing. cuz this is some personal shit.
ok so the guy i mentor under, who shall remain nameless for obvious reasons... is getting fired. The people who own the shop arent artists, ones a piercing. and one runs the floor. I can still work under the license of the piercer. but im going to be the only person in the shop tattooing for awhile. Ive been tattooing for about 5+ months. Everyone is very comfortable with me working (including my mentor whos getting fired tomorrow morning) and i work within my limits.
so yeah, until they find someone else who not only wants to be working here, but wants to continue teaching me. im going to be the only... "artist"
what does everyone feel about this??? its pretty scary shit. im used to working alone, and working everyday. but this is different
serious shit

Suck it up...be realistic...what choice do you have at this point?...sometimes ya gotta take that leap and sometimes ya get pushed down the slide before ya think yer ready to jump...and ya just gotta hold on and enjoy the ride...you will do fine!!
be realistic, when wasnt i?
its just a large step, considering im not even licensed and ive been working for about 5-6 months. and only at this shop for 2.
im psyched that they have this faith in me, but its still fuckin scary. to go from, little walkins to this stature.
i often misinterpret what you type. i see what you are saying.
reading something and hearing something is totally different.
Brotha I wish you the best, if your mentor is pushing you he knows you have the guts to take on, regarding your 5 months...well I've seen people pick up a machine and do better work than guys that have been tattooing for a while. I recently had to do a restoration from a guy that claimed to be tattooing for 20 years. If you feel that you have what it takes to take on gather some guts and do it. You will only get better with practice... unfortunately. Best wishes

i was just wondering, what plans does your teacher have for after this? maybe you could work together somewhere else or something if youre unsure? just out of curiosity, why is he getting fired?
good luck.
Hey, I feel yah... The shop my wife started at about a week ago is going through similar stuff. The artist that was mentoring the other aprentice there just got fired... So now it's the owner (has his own clients and only does custom work), her mentor (only handles his regulars), and the two apprentices who are trading off walk-ins. Her work is better, but his is faster. They have a conventioned planned her mentor can't make it and the owner wants to take her. She been able to teach the other apprentice a few things to improve his quality and she's learning to work faster... They have it easier than you, but if you mentor and boss have faith in you maybe you should too. Work within your limits till your you think your ready for more... when a door closes then another opens many times. Want some advice? Post some of your work... I'm sure they'd be willing to tell you what they think here. Like it or not.
Damn that really sucks. I hope that all goes well for you.. It's about as bad when your just getting through your shit and everyone buut you and a piercer leave for a convention and there is a HUGE festival in your town.. That was no damn fun...

Well I guess if it doesn't kill you, it makes you a stronger artist.

but heres what i have.
the eyes are really old like when i first started, and the tiger was more like.... 3-4 weeks ago.
