What is the deal with every tattooist putting out a sketchbook? Seems to be the thing right now.I can understand, someone like Rollo doing a sketchbook, but I've never heard of a lot of these people, I don't get it. Most of them are just re-hash of American Traditional-Sailor Jerry stuff? Why? It seems goofy.

here's the real question...why can't i find any?! I have been looking in bookstores and can't find any books on tattoos, tattoo design, history, ANYTHING!!! Maybe that can be my best seller...haha (seriously, if there rn't any on the history, dont steal the idea!)
Pulse (www.pulsetattoo.com) or Kingpin (www.kingpintattoosupply) have several books by several artists.
To me, it doesn't really matter how many artists have sketch books or how well known they are, I love discovering an unknown that does amazing art, to me the quality is 1st, not how popular they are.
A good source of many tattoo books...

lol, so i take it they won't be at my local borders for barnes and noble
Sketchbooks are the new way to get your name out there and let people see what you're capable of without having to stick within the confines of 'what flash should be'. Artists are able to draw what they want to draw and it doesnt even have to be a finished piece to sell it. Some sketchbooks are just a compilation of tattoo designs that an artist may have sitting around his home or shop for a while. Wouldnt hurt to stick 'em in a book and make a little change back off 'em.
We have a few tattoo books here. JoeCapobianco.com has 2 new books, Guy Atchinson and Michelle Wortman have new books, Tony Ciavarro has 2 great books... They are out there but you probably wont find (anything) good at the chain stores. Well, that might not be true, Im sure there are good tattoo books at B&N somewhere and they do seem to carry all the magazines though... its always nicer to buy closer to the artist if not direct from them though...
I have a couple already, but how would I go about making one with my own stuff. Maybe Im asking too much but eh could use some help. Thanks..

Jim (Gentleman Jim) sent me as a gift his new sketchbook.
I must say that this is the first one I own and I really like it.
If you are into new School Skulls this is the one to get.
