stencils keep rubbing off

Is their a trick to putting on a stencil so it doesn't wear off in a few wipes,for example in celtic work? thanks

Yeah, there is: - The first thing entails "knowing what you are doing." - Prioritize your work and be organized when lining/ shading. - Detol/ green soap, stencil stuff, stencil it, stencil pro, etc are products known for working good.

try Stencil Stuff it is great for keeping clean crisp stencils http://stencilstuff.net you have to use it correctly but once you get the hang of it you will wonder why you had been using anything else.

Lots of the artists who come through here use the stencil stuff. Its been through the chemists and is made specifically for keeping tattoo stencils on skin. They are working on a "sharpie stuff" too.

also ive seen artist use a lube cant remember the fucking name now and i just had it.(happens with age i guess) i want to say either surgical lube or KY lube but it makes that purple nurple stick. also dont wet your towel while wiping

Vaseline is good, and cheap.

With the profit margins on tattoos it's kinda ridiculous to use something because it's cheap and vaseline would actually hinder a stencils ability to stay on when used as a prep (ie, under the stencil)

The secret on stencil products is to apply the least amount to get the skin just moist with it. best ding to do is to apply a few drops on your finger tips (brand new gloves on of course) and rub them on the skin several time to make spread it evenly kind of trying to clear it off the skin (ironic) I always place a little of tape to hold the stencil so I can put it in place before I apply the Stencil product. Do a few tries with small stencils practice on yourself. If you put too much of the product your stencil will smear and die and you will need to produce a new one.

I've been messing around and founf that I like Stencil Stuff, apply the stencil, let it dry, apply a thin layer of Surgilube and let that dry. Then tattoo as usual using petrolium jelly.

y you guys talk in riddles when answering qwestions...all you do is mix dettol and alch 60 % dettol and 40% alch...i use thermal papper diido or spirit papper for fax machine works awsome..i spray the dettol mix on and place sencil on for 10 seconds then im done...drys really dark purple and is hard to whipe off...allways start from the bottom so you whipe away from stencil over work allready inked..just remember your pushink ink...aks push comes from starting at bottom and working up..hope this helps..you got to get an old 3m thermal fax machine to make stencils..youll never trace again..and they cost $10 at a used thrift store so dont get ripped of on a thermal copier for a grand..you can also use a dot matrix printer..lol ya a dot matrix,,use photo shop to mirror your flash and it will print it out backwards for you...then i run it through my 3m fax and im done..spray the dettol mix and its over..most of the people on the site are anal and just wate your time..read all the fourms not just this one and keep it simple stupid...tip...my biggest help was my color wheel...get one and youll know how to mix all your ink trust me...really improved my artwork over knight..y buy an ink kit when i can use white to cutt shades...just a thought and hope i helped

forgot to mention when i copy off pc with dot matrix printer i do not mirror the pic for printing as i run it through the fax and it gives me an exact match..if you just use dot matrix reverse it ...3m thermal fax is the best tool i got and the cheapest..would rather a thermal fax in a starter kit than a autoclave...can allways use disposable tubes and order pre made needles..think thats even safer...i never autoclave as i use disposables all the time..at $1 for tube and needle you cant go wrong..and the fax machine would of saved me alot of bull crap for my first year..my autoclave sat forever before i started using it..i only use my good tubes on myself and famly..the rest get disposables

i only use my good tubes on myself and famly..the rest get disposables i cant believe you just said that everyone deserves good tubes and shit

let your stencil dry for 20 mins, if someone hasn't already said it. (i didn't read the thread). i have trouble getting my stencil to come off.
