This is a 67 page manual on sterilization and safe tattooing put out by an industry leader in training for sterile tattooing.
This is their site:

I think it should be required reading for all apprentices, potiential clients... or if you just want more info or think you may have an infection or don't trust your studio's care instruction(This should never be a problem). A tattoo should be a beautiful work of art that means something to you, NOT an ugly scar on your skin
BEFORE getting a tattoo you should know proper care and proper sterile technique. If you don't your putting your self at risk. A certificate doesn't necessarily mean the shop follows all sterile techniques, just that they payed their fee and the shop was clean and had proper setup during inspection.
Long story short. GET EDUCATED!!!
Sterilization and Infection

One more thing.
After getting educated. Ask questions. If the shop can't answer them go somewhere else. That's my opinion.

Oh god!...Another on line how to tattoo school...
FUCK!!
Man you had me fooled...I thought you really knew what you were talkin about....You aren't very familiar with us here rae you?...If you were you would realize that nearly all the pros on this forum HATE tattoo schools and what they stand for...
Nothing but ripoffs PERIOD!!!
Sorry, should've stated more clearly... It is a good place for info on sterilization/infection, but not a substitute for experience. Even I know and reccomend that 99.99% of all individuals neither have the means or the know the know how to .... "scratch their way up" ... going this way they are likely to screw their scratchpads (aka their "friends") up. I recommend any artist or wannabe read the material. You'll likely learn something.
Just a source of info NOT a source of training. You can't learn artistic or tattoo technique on-line.
