So I ended up going to the hospital twice. the first time they just gave me some antibiotics and told me not to aply anything to the infected area. So the following dayI had to go back to the hospital cause my foot had gotten even more swollen than it ws before. and i thought it was pretty bad before na that was nothing. I ended up stying at the hospital for the night and they put me on a I. V. and gave me antibiotics some strong ones cause i can tast them in my mouth. and some pain medicine. They ran some test just to make sure i didnt catch anything. Cause man was i worried. But thank god I didnt. the doc said it was a internal infection. Which is really good. He said i had cellititis. So he also said i had to be on bed rest and if i needed to get up to use crutches. Well the swelling on my fooot has gone down alot and is looking alot better but my tattoo well my toplayer of skin lookes like its coming off. I just dont really know what went wrong. I even bought everything myself. just to make sre everything was gonna be clean and steral.
Wow---sounds like you had a real serious problem! I read your post and understand that you had some concerns regarding the sanitation practices and how you may have gotten the infection-although this is totally being based on possible scenerios it may help you figure out (maybe) what could have happened and even prevent someone else from experiencing the same problems you have experienced. FIrst off you said you purchased your items...what exactly did you purchase? The reason I ask is many times people who are either new to the industry make the mistake of purchasing needles, tubes etc from overseas-and you have to be aware that those items many times are packaged under false pretenses (aka not sterile) A supplier that sells to the professional will not sell to clients period and if they do they are not professional suppliers. So from my point of view if you bought your own "stuff" to be sure you are sterile my red flags are already raised. Secondly you had a tattoo on your foot-so lets say that everything was clean and you had new needles, the sanitation was beyond reproach etc...you had a tattoo on your foot! Feet in general heal much slower and you have to factor in age, diseases (such as diabetes) etc. Even those who are in good health can experience infections due to the simple fact that the tattoo is on the foot and more likely to pick up a bacterial infection since it is so close to the ground (not to mention the fact that you may or may not have wore shoes) Normally I do not recommend tattoos on feet unless the person clearly understands the dangers and the need for higher care practices...and I NEVER tattoo a diabetic on the feet. Finally-ink. You could have had a reaction to the ink...there are inks out there that are not safe (aka Ebay inks) and there are people here that can help advise you on what inks are known to be safer. Just keep in mind that there are still possibities for ink reactions-and from what I have heard reds are usually the most reactive to people (I personally never experienced it) There are other factors as well that you need to be aware of such as cross-contaminations (someone is tattooing you and ends up resting their bare wrist on your new tattoo---happens more than you think!) barriers (or lack of) etc. I always sit fon average with a client no less than 1/2 hour to talk about my practices, designing and go step by step on the tattoo step and what to expect...and answer any questions or concerns they may have. Your artist needs to keep immaculate details on sanitation, spore testing, be able to explain their sanitation practices and if they can't you shouldn't get your tattoo with them. I wish you luck and the peeling of your tattoo is normal...I just really hope that for all you been through at least I hope your tattoo ends up healing from now on better and pray it looks well for you.
