Dear Everybody who writes in and wants people on this website to design tattoos for them for free, quit asking. They won't do it. It's called "Spec". Which means you are asking them to work for you for free. In ANY and all artistic ventures, spec is a bad word because the implication is that creativity is not worth anything. I don't see anyone saying "Hey guys I need someone to fix my 96 Honda Accord" becuase mechanics won't do it. That's what they get paid for! Likewise, custom artists are professionals. It's what they do. Not everyone can do it. That's why they get paid to do it. If you are really SERIOUS about your design Idea, simply hire a good custom guy, pay the deposit, and let them blow you away. If you are not willing to do that, you are not serious about getting artwork. SO QUIT ASKING FOR FREE HANDOUTS!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Sorry. Sorry bout that. Sorry. Sorry.......
i will design anything for free ...just ask!
lol, i'm willing to pay, i just can't seem to find people that blow me away with their portfolio that are anywhere near me!!! *cries* :P
Ok mesiano...design me a painted angel for our posters...T
Where are you Ducky?...I forgot...I'm old I can do dat!!
lol 1. i'm in MD, Baltimore area 2. I had a great idea for your painted angel! You like Kat a lot, and she's tattooed all over! pay her to get a pic dressed as an angel with all her tattoos! lol
Now wait, a minute, Taz, I get a shot at this painted angel thing too....
And mainly, here's what I'm saying guys.... I just got done reading a post on our local craigslist here that some dude posted looking for a graphic designer. Want's a kick ass portfolio, 5 years of experience, focus on branding and logo development. This is a startup company though, and he has $50 that he's willing to "award" to the winner of the assignment... plus the potential for more work in the future. Right now and this very moment, I am raising my freelance rate to $150 an hour. Forget it. These people need to be retrained. Creatives of the world, UNITE.
taz.....can you offer me some specifics you would like?
No specifics mesiano...I think an artist should have complete artistic control...All we need is a "painted angel"....Do with that what you will!!! TAz
yes........... but logo style art? or .....
Would artists on here design tattoos if they were paid? Would a tattoo artist be offended if i took him a design from another artist and asked if he would do the tattoo?
Tizz (and everyone looking). If you are looking to have a custom tattoo drawn up you should have the artist who is doing the work do the custom drawing. They will be way more excited to tattoo their own custom artwork (and they will draw that artwork to the best of their tattooing ability). Having one artist who may or may not tattoo you and then another tattoo you is not the best way to get the best tattoo. Ducky, what style? Independent tattoo is there with awesome artists, Read Street Tattoo is another, and Solid State Tattoo is not that far. What type of tattoo are you thinking about?
I agree with Gabe...to a point!...in an ideal situation the artist who is going to tattoo you SHOULD be the artist who designs your tattoo...however sometimes the situation dictates otherwise...maybe a friend who is a good artist but not a tattoo artist drew up a design you are just in love with or something like that...most professional tattoo artists will be happy to use that design as a base to work from...just be lenient in giving the tattoo artist freedom to make what changes he/she deems necessary...some art, although it is kick ass art just does not make good tattoo art....TAz
there are two, a large piece that i will deff get eventually, and then a smaller so i know i can handle the big piece (i don't want a half-outline cuz i can't take the pain or something) 1. I'm highly concidering getting the traditional sailor's swallow, but with a new-age taste to it. My father served in the navy right out of high-school and got to travel to many places overseas, so it would be dedicated to him, plus i luv the traditional swallow tattoos...just i want that extra flare so it's not like every other traditional one. I want this one in color. 2. (the big one) a kick-ass jolly roger to go on my back. i want the flag with the top part of the pole, where it kinda curves with my body. I drew a tiny little pic of what i am thinking, and then i want an artist that can make it awesome. i want this to be in greyscale. the sparrow i wouldn't mind getting sooner than later, but i am going to wait for the flag until after my wedding (Dec. of next year), so i have plenty of time to save for it, and to save if i need to travel.
