Well folks its a bad day for Painted Angel....I always preach about taking this job seriously and this is an example....an example I would rather not have been forced to do...Today I had to fire my own son....yes...Nathan is no longer with us.....won't get into details I will only say that I will not tolerate slipshod work ethics not even from my own son...my customers deserve more than that.
Anyway just wanted to blow off a bit of steam guys!!....see ya!!

Damn Taz I feel for ya, that has to suck- big time. Ain't even gonna ask for details, I think I know you well enough to know it had to be legit or ya wouldn't have fired him. I am so sorry to hear this, hang in there...Doc
Sorry to hear that buddy.Working with family is tuff, had a similar situation with my brother.
Putting your money where your mouth is, eh? Goddamn, your stock just split in my book!!!!!!!!! Keep preachin' the good word.............it's a tough lesson for everyone.
TCE
Ummm... Did I miss something? Does this have to do with what I think it has to do with?.... Son of a bitch.....
Things move pretty quickly around there evidently...................Ya never know, maybe everyone will take a step back and re-assess the situation at some point. But it's great to know that TAz holds everyone to a high standard.
TCE
Lil' Jen, you listening?
TCE
Taz, call me when YOU get the chance to and let me know what the hell is up....J
Hardest thing on earth, firing family. That's why folks say never to work with family. Keep your standards up. And maybe the lesson will be learned.
Jah bless
I am hoping that Nathan thinks about this very seriously ...he has devoted a lot of time to the art and as you all know I am very proud of him...he has gotten VERY good!! But knowing him I seriously doubt he will think about it at all and I have no choice but to stick to my guns (pun intended) until he sees the error of his ways
Time will tell however time is fleeting and we cannot hold his job open for long..
Ah...life! What slings and arrows etc etc etc!
Taz man, I don't know the details, but I am really sorry to hear about this... but I do give you serious props for being the standup guy that you are, and doing the right thing, if it was the right thing. Precious few people will do that these days, and that my friend is one of the things I respect about you the most...
Much love man...
Al
wow, as a dad myself i can imagine it's not something you took lightly. i'm sorry to hear you had to go thru that. but hopefully it will wake him up.
Thanks for all the kind words from all of you!!
HE IS BACK!!!
He called and we had a lengthy talk and I believe that he has seen the error of his ways....TAz
And to any of you poor fuckers out there who play "WORLD OF WARCRAFT"...GET HELP!!!..
I have seen this game ruin marraiges and get people fired from their jobs...There are documented cases of otherwise good parents neglecting their children because of this mind sucking game....for those of you who don't have a clue just google "world of warcraft addiction"...you will be shocked...and its worse than any drug because its LEGAL!!!...If you have kids who are playing what you think is an innocent game OPEN YOUR EYES!!...This is an epidemic...This game was DESIGNED to be emotionally addictive...how widespread is it?....The company that markets this game is profiting a BILLION dollars per QUARTER!!! Thats just for the monthly gaming fees!!!
BE AWARE!!!...TAz
Hey Taz, that sucks that whatever happened had to get to that, but I do believe you're doing the right thing and I hope Nathan realizes it in the future. A wrong is a wrong and hopefully he'll understand. My hat goes off to you for sticking to your ethics.
You know a game is mind fucking people when there are documented cases of people dying because of it....SERIOUSLY! People have died from playing this game because they would not pull themselves away from the computer long enough to use the bathroom, eat, sleep, LIVE!!!!
Not to mention there is a clip somewhere on the internet of a kid getting caught jacking off to one of the playable characters while it dances..... And I thought I was lonesome!
I had to break up with my ex because of war craft. If you haven't seen your girlfriend in a few days and she's naked on your bed, would you chose naked girlfriend or video game? Just an example of how fucked up that game is.
Wha.....my good God!!!!!!!!...... That's just not right!
Wha.....my good God!!!!!!!!...... That's just not right!
The TattooNOW forum is addicting too, at least you can get big swords in World of Warcraft! Honestly, if things go well and I can cut a few hours out of my workday and am spending enough time with the family then any extra would go right to that game.
yeah, you don't have to tell me that's not right...I mean sheesh a girl's got her needs and to be passed up for a video game don't sit too well. Oh well, ended up much better off in the long run!
First, Taz, I am so damn glad to hear you guys patched things up, I think Nathan has the potential to be darn good but damn do I respect ya for insisting he RESPECT the profession as well, Much Props and Nat, don't
fuck up, tattooing can be good to you, but ya gotta be good to it (and FOR it) Ya got a damn good mentor and Dad, I'm rooting for ya kid, do the right thing, make us proud.
Now what the hell are ya talking 'bout with this game "World of Warcraft"?,
is this shit for real? I don't play 'em, don't really know shit about 'em or particularily care to learn but..are you guys SERIOUS? are there really games out there THAT addicitive? I KNOW this damn Forums addicting, but I can control THAT (mostly) But as a Dad of a 'gamer son' I sure want to know about this shit and any like it. And Dana, if what YOU said was true,
honey, any red blooded hetrosexual male that would chose a game over an attractive naked woman on his bed NEEDS serious help (I assume ya dumped that moron?) Seriosly folks if that true, I need more info...Doc
Oh Gabe! Tell me isn't so!!!!!!!! Come back to the light....that's it, come back to the light.....
And Dana, that is always a good thing, ain't it?!?! =)
World of Warcraft is the new Everquest. Remember Everquest? Evercrack? Oh I ruined I would say, three years of my life, in high school playing that game.
MMORPG (Or, Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games) are designed to be immersive. They are designed with certain principles to engage players in the game totally. There are several times I remembering getting home from school on Friday, and going back again on Monday not having slept more than 45 minutes.
Despite all of the severe consequences that were leveled (pun intended) on me because of that game. I wouldn't have traded a single second, not one red hot fucking second, for something else. My life was total shit besides that game, and it offered me some sort of escape when I needed it.
But, I will never play another MMORPG again, because I no longer need an escape, and I no longer have a shitty life. It's not for everyone.
Well, for now TattooNOW is my big ass computer simulation game outlet... Just need to collect a few more spells... Im speaking at a gamer convention in springfield next month!!!
Before dropping out of college I made damn sure I got a job at the computer center so I could play the muds. Getting paid to play online role playing games was how I got back into computers after not touching them for 4-5 years...
F@#KING GEEK
no wonder that Harley has been in parts for 8 years
-wifey
*You have entered a dark forest, the path continues on to the North, to the West the path branches off towards some darkened ruins, to the East, there's a huge fucking skeleton waiting to kill you when you turn to the East. Which way do you turn ?*
*fingers repeatedly jamming against S button*
I'm not going to lie, I geeked the fuck out on games for years. So you could label me a hypocrite if you want. But an educated hypocrite none the less. Human contact and interaction is much more appealing these days rather than leveling up my fireball spell at level 40... Sorry, I was a Sacred geek.... Yes, I my fair share of time on this forum, but the people and the personalities I have encountered far exceed the lust for the World of Warcraft exspansion due to hit the masses in October. I'm just rambling now...sorry.
That's what I mean, I've got a 10 year old who's already hooked on some of the games, but I monitor the shit out of 'em cuz I've seen some that sure ain't 'age appropriate.
Gabe, come on, you're a bright guy, why risk a game that could get ya so addicted your lady could be naked on your bed and you'd prefer to play a GAME. Son, anything that potentially dangerous ain't good for ya or your
marriage-take it from the old guy. On a diff note, thanks for cleaning up the links, last time I checked, none found.
Probably the same reason I drink beer... And thanks for the compliment!
Oh, and theres no game that could distract me that much...
Lets be realistic...not everyone gets addicted to these games ....not everyone who plays them NEEDS an escape because their life is so bad or at least they think it is....but it is a very real problem...in our social circle Jwerk and I know about what?...a half dozen people whose lives are just going to shit because of WOW...one of these guys dropped out of school at 16 to play these games in national competition and get rich....he is still living in his parents house bumming cigarettes from friends...not even interested in GIRLS!!!!and this is 5 years later...Another friend of ours was a master welder and made a great living...a good father and provider...then came WOW...he basically abandoned his wife and child and job...lives in his moms basement with no income ( Jwerk has told him about many job opportunities and he always has an excuse)...when he visits the shop all he comes for is to talk to the others about WOW when he used to come for tattoos...and there are so many others.....this cannot be compared to this forum...I like this forum but I just fit it in between business and life and my time on here in no way affects my life in any adverse way.....I am seeing this more and more and I am VERY concerned...Like a lot of people I was not even aware of the impact this game (and others) are having on society world wide until it affected my family directly....my daughter is days away from filing for divorce because of WOW...My son was at the point of losing his job because of WOW....It is being said that getting a WOW junkie to stop playing is harder than getting a crack junkie to stop smoking cocaine! I don't know about that but I have seen my own son in law go through SEVERE withdrawal symptoms when he (unsuccessfully) tried to stop playing this game...It was pitiful!
So anyway be on the look out...Doc..be especially vigilant with your son...try to get him involved in healthy activities( I am not trying to tell you how to raise your boy but this game is DEADLY!)...TAz
Thanks for the heads up on that game, I know some people really get into them but I guess I didn't realize HOW much. I know I've had to take games away from my 10 year old son because he was taking 'em way too seroius, getting to the point were he was way too angry for a fuckin game and I only allow 'age appropriate' games. And Taz, rest assured I AM vigilante about
my son, he's my blood-old world , ya know? Parents got a lot more shit to deal with than ever I think and if we don't don't honor our responcibility, look what the end results are- I think we've all met a few of those. Glad I never got into those games by the sounds of it but then, I got a Life and a pretty
satisfying one at that....Doc
My girlfriend's been naked on the bed for two months, but I haven't seen her because I'M ON HERE!!!!! I think she's starting to lose her sense of humor........................
TCE
Yeah, I definitely dumped that guy and now I am more than happily married. Hubby's got his priorites straight!
I believe to a certain degree that things like these games, or just the internet in general, are vehicles to put 'space' between ourselves and our significant other's when we feel we're no longer on the same page.
I'm not saying that it's the same in every instance, and with kids I'm sure it's a different scenario all together.
TCE
I dunno TCE, you may be on to something there....
Huh,,,,,,,,,, I know I am...................I'm speaking from experience.
What else is one to do once you've had the break up talk, and the other person just won't have it?
TCE
Just wanted to add, that I used to play WoW... played for about a year... I'll admit there have been a few weekends where I've played for several hours a day, but man, NEVER ONCE did I give up on any social (real life) event or interraction, to play the game.
I have however known people that have pretty much turned themselves into hermits over WoW and other MMOs... Maybe I just don't get it... maybe it's the anonymity of the internet that's so easy to exploit...
ok babbling over... just wanted to share my experience with MMOs
Jay I think its like any other addiction...some people can do cocaine once in a while and never get addicted...some can have a few drinks here and there and no addiction...but then there are some that it just grabs and they lose there fuggin minds!!!!...I have an extremely addictive personality...If I ever started playing this insidious game I would have a dozen computers in front of me and I would have to eat intervenously!!!
Seriously though if you have any doubts or think maybe I am exaggerating just google up "world of warcraft addiction" and you will be shocked....its not just this game but this game was DESIGNED to hook you in and keep paying those fees!!
