Not looking for a free ride and I don't mind doing the grunt work but I do want to learn from someone who is willing to teach and not just make me a gopher.

I got a friend over there that always gets his work at new tribe, the work done on him is really great.
my name is marc, i am looking for a appreticeship in the flint area i have been around tattooing for my whole life i own my own machine have all my own equipment would like to learn more though.
Hey guys good luck with your apprenticeship, but owning machines before even knowing how to use them will not make many mentors happy. While you all wait to get someone to teach you keep pushing your paper art and take CPR, BBP, and CC classes. By doing so you will just be a better candidate when inquiring an apprenticeship. Good luck.
Although I'n not anywhere near the Ottowa area, I own two state of the art studios here in Bryan / College Station, Texas, (home to Texas A&M University), and I also operate one of the oldest, and most comprehensive tattoo apprenticeships in the world. We certainly don't offer any "Free Rides", (we charge a tuition up-front), but we don't waste your time, or our's, teaching you how to be a godd little "go-fer". I'm almost 63 years old, and i don't hav e any time to waste testing your loyalty, or any other kind of "hazing' normally associated with traditional tattoo apprenticeships. I have been tattooing for over fouf decades, and i have had my time in the "spotlight", and have now concentrated on my role as mentor to my apprentices. This is a very serious, and demanding responsibility, and takes the majority of my attention to give my apprentices the education that they deserve, and leaves very little time for anything else. If you are interested, I would be happy to discuss the details of my Tattoo Apprenticeship with you. If you have any additional questions on any other tattoo related topic, I will be glad to discuss it with you as well. Thanks for your time, and I hope that I have helped you out. Hello, I'm starting an apprenticeship program this month in the Orleans area & it was, honestly, a BITCH to find. Most shops rely A LOT on their reputation and usually are not willing to take in any apprentices. I got mine through co-op in high school (although they usually don't take co-op's either). Where I showed a portfolio and also was able to get a recommendation from my vis. teacher at Canterbury HS, after doing all the dirty work as a co-op, I was offered an apprenticeship. Start off small dude(s), go through the mopping floors & cleaning toilets, it's well worth it in the end (:
