I'm looking for a tattoo artist who does quality custom work that equals the work of Nick Baxter. I know there are alot of tattoo artist in the Houston area, surely there is someone that can be recommended. I don't want to wait 3 months and drive to CT to get it done by Nick. If you are not familiar with Nicks work check out www.nickbaxter.com. Look at the Lord of the Rings forearm tat. Thanks

Nick, has a very distinct style..You can't just go into a shop, and get a nick baxter style tattoo. The only guy that comes to mind,in Houston,is Matthew Wojiohowski,at www.amazingtattoo.com He is an excellent tattooer as well...
good words of advice
Yeah, no one can do Baxter tattoos like Baxter. Jay Strange and Tim Creed are also fantastic color artists. Its worth taking a tattoo vacation to see Baxter, though. Its well worth the wait. Besides, Nick has only been tattooing for 4 years, can you imagine what he will do when hes been tattooing 7? My advice is get some jay strage tattoos, but make plans to get a Baxter piece in the future...
I'm wanting to get a full sleeve, so i would prefer the same artist do the whole thing. My arms are bare now so i want the same theme on my whole arm. The closest shops are in Beaumont. Gil Monte is there but i'm not impressed with his style.
jJeff Ensminger has been doing some great tattoos out of Texas. Might be worth bouncing your ideas off him. What type of tattoo are you looking to get?
I'm wanting a Pirate girl, ship and water scene. Full sleeve, lots of color. Thanks
Jeff would do that tattoo awesome, he does really good color work and I think he would be pretty inspired by the subject matter and size of the tattoo. Another visitor found jeff through this site and is getting extensive work from him. Jeff is up in the Dallas area, I dunno if you make it up there often. You should give him a call, though, maybe he knows a custom tattoo artist closer who are really good too. And who knows, maybe the two of you will hit it off, the drive may be worth it.
I'm originally from Dallas and will be working the Round-up show soon. I plan to return frequently to TX for guest spots and conventions. I'm sure the friends and family would like it if I visited often too. :-)
That piece would be awesome. Check out my stuff and let me know if you are interested. www.pureimaginationtattoos.com
Kandyman Joe,
Your work looks great, but i'm in the same boat.. The travel time and distance. When is the next show in Texas and where. Thanks
I'm having Jeff do a full sleeve on my left arm currently. Its a spooky forest scene and features some fantastic tree bark textures and lots of color when finished. I highly recommend Jeff in the Dallas area if you're looking for large projects. He's now working at Cat Tattoo there.
check out Casey Cokrlic,at finelinetattoos.com He's at the Monforte ST. location..He is a really good,versatile tattooer..And www.elmstreettattoo.com is a good shop..

I travel alot and have a ton of family and friends in TX. I make it a point to get back as often as possible.
If you do decide to travel to the studio, I discount a good portion of travel expenses from the session.
The next Texas show is Nov. 4-6 at Dallas Crowne Plaza. Info for the convention is at:

Anyway, I'm always interested in meeting real collectors wether I do the work or not, so stop by the booth if you come to the Texas "round-up."
Take care and good luck with your design!

I'm going to try and goto that convention. I"ll look you up. Thanks for the help
