Ok, I need your help. I want to get certified to be a tattoo artist. I am currently going to school at Allentown Business School for Visual Communications, which I will be graduating in Decemeber of 2004. I choose that feild because I wanted to be able to draw my own flash using the computer, and the right programs. So I've visted a couple different tattoo shops to get some information (New Image in Bernsville PA, Illusions in Maryland, Bobs Tattoos in Hanover, PA, and Skin Blasted in Littlestown, PA. I got my machine, and I began practicing on pigs ears and oranges. So I need help from here... How do I get Certified? Where do I go from here? Please help! RESPONSE FOR LAURA SERAKAS: Laura, What you need to do from here is go back a few steps and start again. Your schooling is I'm sure of some benefit, but I hope you do not expect your computer skills to replace the skill of "drawing" that you will no doubt need. You should work on your drawing skill and put together a portfoilio of your hand-drawn art/flash and take it around to local tattoo shops and get some opinions. If you have tattoos(and I hope you do), go to your artist and express your interest in obtaining and completeing an apprenticeship . As for the machine and practicing on pig's ears...It's probably a bit premature at this point. Without aquiring an apprenticeship you won't know what your really practicing to do. Nothing replicates human skin, so anything you learn will be of little use to someone learning through trial and error. In fact you'll probably just develop some early bad habits. I guess, to make my point, WORK ON YOUR DRAWING SKILL,GET AN APPRENTICESHIP AND LEARN FROM A PRO. It's really the only right way, and you will be respected by your peers in the industry for doing it that way. good luck

Hey just looking for an oppertunity to make a better life for me and my family. I am a very talented tattoo artist (My customers say this) but i need a big better drive for my art to be better than it is now. I am not getting this due that all the furniture factories have been shut down. No one has money because they have no jobs. In a shop where i used to do 10 tattoos a day i get 10 a week.
