Search the archives for "open studio" to see past threads. Please, stop typeing in ALL CAPS, its like your shouting. Glad to see you havnt gone anywhere i mortal. It shouldn't be too hard to be better than H&H from what Ive seen, but you should make sure you *really* have something to offer the tattoo world, just loving tattoos and having good ones isnt really enough...
Thanks Gabe. I'm still very serious about it. I wont be discorraged. I learned alot more from this site than I thought I would. Is there a site out there like this one for piercing?
hey mortal good seeing ya around glad your back
Not to discourage you, but as a word of advice. Not too many artists(and I mean the ones whom whould make a shop great shop), would work for one that is not a tattooist. Money SHOULD NOT be the focus of this industry! The PEOPLE, the ART, that is the passion! Every person a tattooist touches, WILL REMEMBER them FOREVER, ITS IN THEIR SKIN! For the good or bad, it is permanate! I have met people whom own shops, that not even dont have tattoos, but wont let their close ones get one, but are in it for the money. JUST DONT DO IT. This trade is degrating for that very reason, MONEY. Do what you are good at.... basket waeving, welding, running businesses, just dont degrade this business any more than it has become. J
ok man, I asked a simular question some time ago and it started me on a mission. I'll give you a heads up since some of the people arond here would rather have there teeth pulled by way of their rectum then help you out, and for good reason. If you only have 6 months to a year to get this whole thing up and going, and you going from scratch then forget it. The huge amount of knowledge that is needed to get this going is far more than I fist thought. The biggest thing you need to ask yourself is why whould a great artist that you would need to keep you open work for you when they can do it all by themself. The answer is either you give them such a sweet deal that you end up with not enough to make it worth it or you end up with a less than great artist. Good luck competing with the the already over populated amount of tattoo shops out there with a not so artist. It wont happend. This is just what you have to keep in mind as far as an artist goes, I'm not even going to get into the rest of it, I would be wrighting for way to long just to tell you what little I know about this. I feel ya though, I too have sleeves and want nothing more to open a shop but I'm telling ya its going to take some time to learn all you need to know to have a great shop. Answer this as it keeps bouncing around in my head, what is you expirience in the tattoo bis. (getting a tat doesen't count) and what can you offer a really good artist that he/she can't do on their own?
