Hi, I would really appreciate it if any experienced tattoo artist could reply to this. I have a disorder that causes me to have a low platelet count (circa 75,000). As a result, I sometimes get heavy bruising on my arms. To cover this up, and for appreciation of art, and a desire to express my beliefs, I've decided to eventually have both of my arms completely covered over several years time. I'd like to know if someone can tell me how much bleeding I should expect from being tattooed, so I can discuss it with my doctor to see if I'd need to undergo a medical treatment before being tattooed. I've tried to use google, and have spent a considerable amount of time trying to research it, but my keywords are only yielding results pertaining to the inability to donate blood after having work done. I've also tried to look at tattoo videos to gauge it, and they have been of no help. Any detailed information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Sorry, I do realize my question is somewhat vague, and open ended.
Tattoo Bleeding

your condition which I am assuming is vaso-subdermalhemophilia minorus is a condition that I have had to deal with on 3 seperate occaisions....the first person to ask for advice would be your doctor...and get more than one opinion!...make sure your artist knows about the situation...
You CAN be tattooed safely if the artist knows the situation and uses a light touch...subdermal haematomas...bruising beneath the skin will not really affect the tattoo as long as you do it in small sessions...no long sessions for you ...do a small area then allow it to heal before you do the next...take EXTRA special care of your tattoo during the healing process...I have also found that large doses of vitamin K...a natural cougulant ( blood thickener) helps tremendously....as does a diet rich in vitamin k...broccoli etc
Be careful...go slow and easy and consult with your doctor and you will do just fine...TAz, Painted Angel
Should have been "COAGULANT"...sorry!
TAZ, your so f'n smart I'm always learning something new I love to read your post!
Smart?...no...just old!!...but thanks for the post kiddo...
By the way this condition could also be "Aplastic anemia disease"the results and methods are nearly the same...T
I have a tattoo that is almost 10 years old. About 5 months ago, I discovered a scab on corner of the tattoo and when that scab fell off, all the ink was gone in that part of the tattoo as if it was never there. I discovered another scab on the same tattoo tonight. Can anyone tell me why my tattoo is bleeding on its own without injury and expelling the ink of the tattoo from my body? And why this particular tattoo? I have 4 more tattoos and none of them have done this before. Any reasons for this phenomenon?
