Tattoo Healing

I just got a tattoo of a teardrop on my bikini line five days ago. Some of the ink flaked off in the lighter area like it should have, but now it looks like there is nothing there now, just red, shiny skin. Not all of the ink is off yet, but where it is gone, it just looks like a scar. I am wondering if this red, shiny skin has to flake off too for me to be able to see the tattoo, or if part of my tattoo is actually gone and I need to get this part redone. A friend got a tattoo that same night with me, on her foot, and her's isn't doing this.
If you can't see it at all...it's probably gone. I don't know if I really want to know the answer to this question, but, did you get this at a shop, or in someone's kitchen? I will assume ( I know, to assume makes an ass out of u and me) that this was not done in a shop, otherwise, you'd be asking your artist.A reputable and knowledgable tattoo artist from a shop would be able to look at it and instruct you on what to do. If you did go to a shop, at least most I know, will touch up for free ( but don't forget to tip your artist!). So call you artist, go by the shop and show it to them, and they should point you in the right direction. If it was done in someone's kitchen, well...you get what you pay for. Good Luck.
No, don't worry, I didn't get it in a kitchen. It was in a living room. Just kidding. I got at a good tattoo parlor. But, I do have very sensitive skin (the skin around my tattoo got bumps from the moisturizer), so I think that may have contributed. Also, I wore jeans over that area, which probably rubbed it off. But I didn't think that that would make it totally gone. My artist did reassure me touchups are free and doable. I am just too impatient to wait to for the outcome. More advice would be appreciated!
Oh yeah, tight jeans can definately mess up a tattoo. My ex-wife got a koi on the inside of her thigh and started wearing tight pants to work the very next day! ( Now that she's my ex, I think it's kinda funny that she got a fish so close to her crotch! What was she thinking?) Anyway,a week later she had to get an antibiotic shot because it got infected and started spreading. I would think that any fabric soap/softener in your clothing could irritate it too. Take it easy.
