I just got a tattoo on my left shoulder. I'm taking care of it the way the artist told me to. The only problem is that the top layer of skin looks like it is peeling of at certain spots. I don't know if it is getting scrapped of when I sleep or what. This is my first tat and I don't know if this is normal or what?

This is completely normal, your tattoo will flake or peel a layer of skin during its healing process. Your Tattooist should have discussed this with you as part of the care and healing of your new Tattoo
good luck

Yep, it's just like a sunburn. First it hurts a little, then the pain goes away and it starts to itch a little. Then it starts to peel. Just like a sunburn. Then the peeling finishes, it itches for a while longer, and then walla! Your lookin' good!
On a similar note. After mine peeled the new skin looked scaly. Is this normal and if so how long before the skin will start to look good again?
Depending on how much color work or shading you had done it is normal for the skin to have a little bit "shine" to it. It kinda looks like patches of shiny skin. That's the new skin and the "shine" will go away.
I was a bit freaked the first time I had that.
