Tattoo Idea

What do you artists suggest for tattoo's for a childs birth kind of thing? I'm getting a portrait but we're trying to come up with something for the mis'us.. we were thinking about a claddagh with her name under it or something but what other ideas are there some kind of rose thing, tribal, celtic, something else?? thanks! maybe some favorite baby toys? Hmmm, images other than portraits... maybe art from a favorite kids book...

Good idea but it would end up being a nuk haha.. pacifier on your shoulder.. nah.. :) We liked the claddagh (well wifey did) but finding a nice one is hard they all look the same.. I bet Julio could do something to make it unique though.. he's going to do it if he has time after my portrait.. Craig

What does a claddagh have to do with birth/babies? Nothing. You might as well get whatever arbitrary image you like the best; it could be an anchor, pirate ship or a severed zombie head with a name under it, as it is equally non-symbolic. That said, if the claddagh is the arbitrary image you like the best, then more power to you!

Really depends on what you're looking for, how big and where the placement is. I've seen some tattoos of baby's fingerprints, footprints, handprints, etc. that looked neat. If you want to go small it could be easy to hide. I suppose the artist would treat it as a type of portrait since it tends to be intricate.

Thanks all. I like the claddagh because I like the meaning behind it 'love, loyalty, friendship'.. seems pretty apt.. maybe something with roses, a baby rattle (I think someone mentioned that?).. or something... Craig

How about colorful wooden baby blocks (you know the ones with letters on each side) to spell something out. I've seen it before, but it looks nice

what about something to represent the season the baby was born??? spring flower? snowflakes . . . . . . kinda like that . . . . maybe a rattle or even a nuk in the middle of a summer field ????? i am sure julio would have fun making a nuk look all drooly LOL where does your wife want the tattoo? the placement may help generate ideas .. . . i have a daisy on my foot for our daughter but that was an easy one cause thats her middle name . . . gabe waited and wondered what to get until at 3 she told him what she wanted . . if you meet up with him someday you might want to ask to see it heehee and thanks for helping to end the spam! -kmama
