Tattoo Infection, allergy. or skin irritation?

4 messages · last activity 10/24/2006

Hi everyone, I got a tattoo on my ankle a little over 3 weeks ago and for the first two weeks it looked great... it wasn't red and had very little scabbing. Now it's pinkish/red and there are little tiny red/pink dots up my leg (not very far though)... it looks like how a rash would look. Also, it's now scabbing (which is a good thing) and it itches occassionally. Is it supposed to be red/pink? More about the tattoo- it's blue and green and is about 3" x 3". Please help me know if its infected, irritated, or an allergy ... and what can I do to help heal it!? -Jen
I'd def check with your artist, that person should be able to steer you in the right direction.Good luck
I did go back to the tattoo shop and they did say that it's not an infection... which is really good. But could it be an allergy to something?
You really should be asking the artist all these questions, they know their work, your skin, and can see the rash in person, we know very little and see nothing. That said, what type of skin lotion are you using? People can be allergic to different brand lotions. i cant use lubraderm, other folks have allergies to others...
