tattoo infections

I got a tattoo on the top of my foot saturday night, so a little over 3 days ago. I have been following instructions ie keeping it clean, using frangrance free lotion, keeping it out of the sun, not wearing shoes that rub it. But, i fell off my bike(uncoordinated I know) and 1/3 of the scab ripped off. Now where the scab was its red, darker red than normal, and yesterday it was hurting so bad I couldn't walk to pump gas in my car. But I put it up for the night let it dry out and it feels ok today. My question is should I be worried about an infection? I know its gonna suck and I am going to have to get it retouched b/c of the scab falling off so early, but if it continues to hurt but not puss or ooze should I be worried?

In the first place the tattoo probably should not have scabbed at all if it did it was either applied incorrectly or the aftercare was inadequate...now as for infection since the tattoo has been breached you may very well get an infection...keep a close eye on it ...if it turns an angry red around it and/or exhibits a yellow or green pus like exudate ..GO TO THE DOCTOR...take NO chances! I also just washed it. But as you can see its not red around the tattoo, its not hot, it only hurts when it swells up when I walk around on it all day. And its fine as soon as I prop it up. I am getting worried, my artist said it wasn't normal for it to be red, so I am hoping for you guys to tell me. I am going to try and get to the doctor tomorrow, but I am worried about it getting really bad before I can get there.
