Tattoo infection

hello ive been having a tattoo done over a little a period of time, a little at a time on my arm and the guy that does it is a friend and has been doing tattoos since he was really young and had his own studio before he moved here and he did one before for me and it healed great and this one on the inside of my left arm isnt healing like that one did.......theres no pain or anything on or around the tattoo but there is a little bit of pus coming out and little bumps around it but it seems when i wash it normally the puss goes away and it does puss anymore but i dont want to pick at dried puss, i want it to just fall off on its own........is there anything i can do for it? to keep it clean and get it healed? anything i should put as a cover on it? ive been putting bag balm on it and its worked for all my other tattoos but please help me?? i dont want to go to the doctors if i dont have to cause i know its not that bad to do that yet!! please respond as soon as possible

Hey, I just got a pretty large tattoo across my back two Saturdays ago and it was healing great then on the 5th day I started getting red bumps come up that were filled with puss. I thought I was just breaking out from maybe sweating at night and so I treated them like a zit. Well they started spreading and getting bigger and more sore. I got scared and thought I maybe had a infection so finally today I went to the Doctor. She said I did have a skin infection. It was caused by the bacteria moving out of my skin when the needle went in and then the bacteria moved into my pores where he shaved me before the tattoo. She told me to wash it daily with antibacterial soap and she prescribed me some antibiotics. I am glad I finally went to the Doctor because it would have just kept spreading.
