Post it on http://supplytattoo.com/board/ or search through the existing posts, the answer will be there !
I'm pretty sure that this forum isn't meant to explain the "how-to" of tattooing. I would say, ask the person your apprenticing with.
I think maybe you need to turn your gun up, I find that if I cant hammer a nail in very easy, I just swing a little harder and then it goes better. So maybe the tatoo gun is the same, make it hit harder. But then you might make 'im scar or turn their skin into hamburger. And then scar. Or try some other ink at the store.
You shouldnt be tattooing anyone if you are asking questions like this on a forum. Get an apprenticeship and learn the right way, otherwise you will just keep fucking up your friends and family.
i am not sure if this is what you want but here is a site.

hope it helps
Fuck these people who keep saying "apprenticeship" meanwhile these Cock suckers are too good and all mighty to tell u the "secrets" cuz u might just do better and cheaper work than them! Plus I dare u to try and find someone to apprentice with the all act like I'm too good for you pricks! Oooh I'm a tattoo artist I'm better then you! Fuck off!
Yeah, we're "scared" of the competition, get real. When your artwork is good enough, you can find an apprenticeship. My bet is your artwork sucks and instead of working hard to better yourself, you complains and point fingers.
Its not all about apprenticing under someone all the time.. Ive done that, and sometimes hands on expirience is a better way to master the skill. Ive recently started learning a bit more hands on after the shop I was at closed this past summer. I started tattooinng myself rather than other people. I found it hard to apply the correct pressure because its natural to not push down with the correct pressure. who wants to inflict pain on themselves or others??? scarring and ruining other people isnt the correct approach. try going back to the begining and try practicing on a grapfruit or some practice skin, learn how apply the correct amount of pressure.. and also depending on the power supply and how cheap it is, you may have to bump it up a bit. allthough im no expert, Im just tryna give you some tips that have helped me. Artists shouldnt critisize each other, we need to remember what made us decided to do this in the first place... the love of the art. There will always be people who judge, and point the finger.. who cares.. There are plenty of real tattoo artist that will offer some advise.. Try going to your local shop, and just be a normal human being... have a conversation, and ask questions. You may be suprised at the response you get. :) I was, when I was offered the chace to watch and learn.
I will say though, I would never recomend tattooing other people until you are comfortable and have mastered the skill, I know that I havent.. so I would never do that to another person. I respect the fact that there are standards to the art of tattooing... and as an aspiring artist, you should respect those standards and try your best to adbide by them.
