Tattoo itch?

usually a tattoo will only itch during the healing process(1-3 Weeks) but i haven't heard of a tattoo that still itches after 14 years. You might want to see a doctor or something. How was this tattoo done?
no big deal there. it could happen for a couple of reasons. a tattoo is made up of particles of color pigment pushed into your skins pigment. every once in awhile your skin just doesnt agree with having pigment in there causing it to raise a little and sometimes itch. usually this happes if your warm or your skin gets irritated. another reason could be from your skin being slighty scarred during the application of the tattoo.
ive got about 70% coverage and have some line work thats about 14 years old that raises once in awhile. i also have a large green skull done about 2 years ago that itches slightly usually if i get warm quick. i usually try not to itch it being that once i start itll bother me a little more. the color looks great the tattoo looks great my body just doesnt like this particular green pigment.
Hi guys,
I've had my tattoo for a year now, It suddently started itching like mad, there's little bumps all over it, it seems as if my body is trying to take the ink out. What seems strange is, why now? Why did it started itching a year later? Anyone else with the same problem?
i have had it happen for years its just the ink getting agetated by heat, sweat, etc, it gets better with age.
(enigmaa) but the one with bumps try and scracthing them or pop them that happen to my boyfriend and he just scratch and pop them and it went away it happend in the red ink part. it all depends how bad it is or gets. red is tricky atrtist have to realy pay attention to what they are doing. I think you should go to docters now and get some tests.
i just seen on another site a socalled artist telling people to use and injet printer to make stenciles with useing ink that comes with printer and a tracing paper!!! man is he going to do harm!!! i hate scracthers they are getting licensed with no aprenting or any knowleage of tattooing
i had a tattoo done by a friend of mine who seemed to be working in a reputable place... i dunno. i wonder if a. her materials were clean, or if b. i did not take care of it properly. i had the tattoo done, then she placed petroleum jelly over it and placed a sheet of saran wrap over it. afterwards, i put more petroleum jelly on it too. shesaid that was fine.
i think that's where i screwed up. i have five other tats, all perfect, not one is raised or itchy at all... i always put on bacitracin right after and kept my shit moist w/ creams... :(
i've got bumps, it itches if i squeeze enough, the bumps filled with blood underneath and yeah... it was actually worse. i've been putting on shea butter, the real african kind on it, and it itches less, and some of the bumps have gone down... but i wonder if a doctor needs to get in there and do some serious damage.
i wonder, can you just tattoo over that shit? never get a tattoo w/o having insurance. it's so embarassing to have an ugly tattoo.
anyone got any advice? b
esides, yeah, go see a doctor.
thanks!
I had an old tattoo covered up. The old one was small...on the upper part of my arm near the shoulder. I got it when I was 18 and It never itched. 5 months ago, I got it covered with a bigphoenix that starts on top of my shoulder and goes about 1/2 way to my elbow. I have itching spells and not sure why. It healed nice.. no scabb..no scars. Not sure why it itches. I only had the black work done too. I am ready to schedule my 2nd setting for color and hope the itching doesn't get any worse. The itching doesn't last long.. maybe 5 - 10 minutes. It's just aggravating. It was done by a very well respected artist in the area so it was done right. Just one of those things! Check it out at:

Thanks!
Itching can have something to do with an allergic reaction too.
I had a pretty hardcore reaction to a tatoo i got, and every once in a while it still itches.
There are sooo many different types of inks that can be used with different ingredients, so if you get one tattoo from one artist, it is possible to have an allergic reaction to another artist's ink.
And you can form an allergy at any point in your life.
mine iches and swells all the frigin time .....i went with 2 other people that day and all of ours had problem .....i think the ass went way to deep ....because my other ones dont do that ...and they didnt feel sore after they were done either ....

I got a tat on my shoulder blade on the right side.. some stars.....it's been well over a year now and for the last few months I have been having these itching spells. If I lightly scratch over it.. it starts.. I try n ignore it but, it's one of those things that itch so bad it makes me jump until I scratch it again. It usually last like 10 mins then it gradually subsides.. still, why does it itch like that in the first place? Drives me crazy!!!
Hey I'm a noob. I just got my first tattoo. Three days ago. It's on my calf. Right now, my entire body just started itching. Is there any possibility that it could be related to my tattoo? Or is it just in my head?
