Well Gabes Flamingo is up! I will only post pictures of actual people! (I made an exception for Gabe cause he gives us this great place!!) I checked into it, I have used 1.6MB (there is 11 pics)so far. I am able to have 20 MB in total. So as for "space hogs" that want more then 1 pic. today is not going very well. if i wasn't preggo i'd say screw this and go back to working at animal shelters. i just have one of those jobs where i've 6 or 7 bosses, that all want different things.... and if i listen to one boss then i get emails and phone calls from the rest of them wanting to know why i went against their requests. i don't even know who all of my bosses are anymore, i accidentally told one of them off today -- and found out later he was a new boss. bah! /end rant. :)

that's exactly why i'm there. i moved to az in january -- in nj i worked as a bar-back and in the liquor store -- can't really bar back when you're preggo (those kegs get heavy). (and i had 2 other jobs then too... me=workaholic) so now i get paid holidays, paid vacation & sick days, actual medical benefits, and if i can work 40hrs/week up until the start of august then i'll qualify for paid maternity leave. plus i've a set schedule -- i've never had that in my life. i just have to sell my soul to do it. and get used to the fact that the only people i talk to all day long are museum curators/conservators and corporate bigwigs. ie no one with personality. oh and hey! i finally replied to your myspace messages! :P

For any of you who have been on this forum for any amount of time you will know that Gabe has been ferocious about getting rid of the ads that Doc is so pissed about...Gabe was out of town and very busy but did remove some of the ads....and I am sure he will remove the rest of them...I guess that he just was not quick enough for Doc....You all know that Gabe has devoted his LIFE to the tattoo industry and when he is called out for being in this just for the money I am gonna come out swingin!!...We know better...although Gabe and I seldom see eye to eye...this forum of his has done so much for so many I just cannot justify anyone saying he is in this for the bucks...That offends me and I take it personally... just a quick thanks to taz and tce kind words are appriciated . . . .Gabe thinks you said all that needs saying but because I like to have the last word I wanted to add --> we do work our butts off here in the woods of western mass For those that think we are a million worker bees in a comapany the size of Yahoo heres the scoop: TattooNOW is Gabe . . . . . . and then there are 3 or 4 of us running back-up Maggie does organization(thats a pretty HUGE task, Brenden helps program, Deidre the Intern, and me (i'm cute!) there are almost 50 websites close to 100 artists 1 million unique visitors a month nearly 200 links on the links page we don't own a house we drive old cars we only go on vacation to visit tattoo artists but we are happy . . .. and we are glad our hard work and our blind determination and our dumb luck makes you all happy! and since that was alot of last words i'll be done now.

To clarify the real deal for anyone who cares to listen, it was not a case of not getting immediate results. Fact is I emailed Gabe about the ads Sunday, then again Tues., pointed out the sites and later recieved a responce telling me he hadn't been aware of the problem but would take care of it (no problem, what more can ya ask) but when I checked the next day, SOME were removed, but not two that (1)sells 'how to' CD's, another which sells both kits and 'how to'disks. As these kinds of ads are totally against what I thought this site was supposed to be about and would expect ANYONE serious about the profession to understand the urgency to remove asap, I decided it was not the kind of thing I want to be involved in/with and withdrew. Gabes responce to me had stated he understood his responcibility to the Tattoo World (which I've been a part of for going on 42 Years, I might point out) so, again, when only some ofthose ads were removed, but not all, I figured that showed me his sense of responcibilty. I'd like to point out those ads are up 24 hours a day, giving plenty of opportunity for wannabes to order with just a few clicks and in no time, can be fucking people up, dissing every skilled/dedicated tattoo artist, taking money out of our hands and spreading who knows what in the process-all of which can easily create numberous problems for the Art of Tattooing. As to the opinion I was simply upset because it was not happening 'fast enough', that's NOT it, the point was SOME were removed but not 2 very offending on the same damn page. I KNOW and APPRECIATE the fact Gabe IS busy, I am NOT a fucking moron but damn it, I'd have hoped he'd have realizes THIS is a PRIORITY. Anyways, THOSE are the facts and I have emails to back it up. Doc, I took down the 2 links you asked me to as soon as I got your email. BUT I am not scrubbing everything on this site(or finding another intern to do so as you suggest, its not that easy) anytime soon although going after the links section is on our to do list. While your top priority may be to rid the internet of links to the stupid companies, mine is to work for tattoo artists and educate the public. For years TattooNOW has worked just fine with people asking me to take something offending down when they find it, I look at the offending whatever and probably take it down. We did just this for you. If you want to send another set of links that offend you thats fine with me but until then Im cranking on the websites I need to launch and taking care of the artists I need to take care of (and, uh, dealing with servers crashing on July 4th weekend, haha). Id love to make sure every link on the links page is positive (the links page has needed pruning and enhancing for years now!) but I believe the art of tattooing is tough and so it doesnt need me to hand-hold every visitor here to insure they might not get ahold of tattoo equipment or learn the wrong way. Tattooing, like nature, will take care of itself. We spend a lot of time on here educating folks on the right way... One reason I dont share the same sense of urgency you do is I have never felt that the proper way to solve any problem is by cutting out access or censoring, indeed I feel the proper way is to solve problems is through education, in this case by both the public in finding good artists and future tattoo artists on the proper way to learn. Censoring links is merely a band aid and the work we do on this forum and throughout the site educating the public to find quality artists is my best effort to de-valuing scratchers. Basically, Ill spend some effort stopping morons from tattooing out of their house, but I believe theres more good to be done pushing the talented professional artists upward and onward than worrying about all the new people that may or may not click some links they find against our advice. I also believe at the end of the day people should be responsible for their own actions. If someone is tattooing poorly in unsafe conditions there are two parties directly responsible. The person doing the tattooing for their tattooing and the client for their choices. That said, as an industry we do have a responsibility to take care of our own business, lord knows Id much rather have the industry leaders insure the success of the tattoo industry rather than rely on lobbyists and lawmakers in washington. I dont want hacks putting out unsafe bad work anymore than you do and if we take care of it ourselves then the government doesnt have to butt in, much. Another lesson tattooing has taught me is patience, and to keep my sense of urgency in check as best as possible. Basically, I hear the call for perfection loud and clear, but as you know it takes a long time to get there. I hope to see you return in 6 months to a year because we will be a few steps closer and the whole system will be that much tighter. Im getting things wrapped up here so we can keep up and soon after we get another stab at making things perfect. Lastly Doc, I do respect my elders advice but when you come into my house and call me out as someone ripping off tattooing for money, it makes me question YOUR integrity. I would think someone who has been around the business longer wouldn't throw around such serious accusations without knowing the facts. Either way, I hope you stick around but Ive wasted enough time with this BS. If you just told me all the links you wanted removed in the first place instead of bitching about the job we're doing they would have all been down by now. Go make a final list and we will do our best.

What do you think would happen if some spoiled politician brat contacted a serious desease even though it was from a hacker? (Did you see the recent post re:MSRA spread by 'underground tattooing, 43 cases I think it was) Again, I just thought it a part of the overall problem. I also agree with what you state regarding trying to push the talented and strive to educate (I've tried to do and advocate that often) I also believe that some of these idiots that let anyone who doesn't know how to do it properly IS as big an idiot. Yet, I know from years of experience that MOST people do not do their research, don't have a clue as to what constitutes a GOOD/SAFE tattoo. I did find the old email and indeed there were three links. They were in a sentence and not a list so it was easily confused. The third link should be down now. It was an easy mistake. The little Angel Roses Birthday is on July 17th Comin up Monday! I got em full on Skatebaord setups with pads... etc. We have a skate park next to our house. They are so funny. Little badass chicks. The've been riding their bikes and scooters in the bowls with their little pink helmets, and they fall down, fuck themselves up on their knees and elbows... cry, cry, cry, and then when I come down to comfort them they're like "NO DADDY! GO AWAY! Cause they want to skate tough with the big kids, so they get up, dust themselves off and start the cycle all over again. I take them over to this 4 story climbing wall at Dicks sporting goods out here too, and they climb that motherfucker in half the time of adults. Kenny just entered herself in a speed climb contest for that wall on Saturday coming up... THEN she tells me about it after she enters herself. Chicks man....
