tattoo swollen after 3 months

I had a tattoo done in Feb of this year....its a sphere with tribal design in it. It healed nicely until about beginning of April. The colors are red and blue. The red got swollen and really puffy and hard. It didnt hurt at all but got really swollen. I work for the railway and was figuring it was coming from the creasote in the rail ties. The red color is getting really dry and i put vit E on it. The swelling goes down and then starts back up again. Any help is greatly appreciated. I think im going to see my doctor soon. Dime ...I wouldn't think there should be much swelling after 3 months ...I think I would err on the side of caution and see a doctor...TAz

i would see a doctor and would ask the person who done it what they have done.......

Just because there is a problem with a tattoo DOES NOT mean that the artist did anything wrong in 99% of the cases the problem stems from failure of the client to properly care for the new work. Lets not be so quick to assume there was artist error...once the tattoo leaves the shop the artist has no control over how the work is cared for...TAz

DB,I think I sometimes I experience the same thing on tats that I've had for years,chalked it up to contact dermitius(check spelling).If it flares up,wash it off and put some lotion on it.

i have put vit E on it and lotion.......it seems to have subdued in the swelling......i think its a reaction to the red ink. the skin isnt as hard and it doenst itch no more......just scared the hell outta me........havnt been to a dr yet.......i hate dr's to be truthful. I will update soon again........thank you for all your information. i think il will stick to black tatts...lol scary stuff when that happens. I dont blame the artist at all. Its not his fault if I have a reaction to the ink..but only the red ink.
