Tattoo Wars?!

Apparently a new show to be coming out. I know I am out of the loop by and large but competive artwork? Anyone know anything about this: http://www.origprod.com/theshows.htm Tattoo Wars Tattoo Wars pits the best tattoo artists of our time against each other in a head to head creation competition. In each episode we explore the world, legend and work of two internationally acclaimed tattooists. Then we travel to a huge tattoo expo where our stars, in three hours time, ink a tattoo on the skin of two willing clients. These creations have a common theme, such as a dragon, a calla lily, a sailor, a tribal gauntlet, or a hanya (Japanese devil mask) but are rendered in the unique style of each artist. As the show closes, thousands of show attendees vote for the creation they like the best and the winning artist takes home the Tattoo Wars trophy.
If they listen to the artists and let the best of the best guide the show's direction, we're in for a hellofa ride folks. Hell City will have the first bout between Guy and Aaron. Rumor has it that Nikko will be up against Steve Morris next in florida. Lame name, bad ass tattoos. If they keep with a lineup of that calibur (Bugs and Mike Rubendall were the pilot), the editors will be hard pressed to show tattooing in a bad light. Im hoping the producers listen and learn from the amazing artists they are working with... that kind of talent matched with that much exposure can really change the entire culture for the better if the producers let it.
Ha, ok, I fell for it. I wanna see Adrian Dominic and Jeff Ensminger against Nick Baxter. Maybe throw Kostechko in during overtime to see if Baxter breaks. ha.
Will they publish the bout between Guy & Aaron???
Holy friking crap! This could be AMAZING!!
This is complete rumor spreading on my part, I dont really know whats happening... but I believe its going on TV. The learning channel, kinda like biker build-off. How about that. I might be completely wrong. I did see em film Mike and Bugs in NYC though.
I would like to see perhaps Brandon Bond vs Kore Flatmo Grime vs Ed Hardy!! Adrian Lee vs Shige S. Victor Whitmill vs Paul Booth Carson Hill vs Jon Clue Dave Fox vs Joe Capobianco Cory Kruger vs Steve Moore Petri Syrjälä vs Mike Devries Maaaaan!! :D
AHHHHH... thanks for the insight Gabe. I'm just cautious of anything tattoo related on TV.

And for the match of the century Bob Tyrrell vs Robert Hernandez. What a match.
Its funny (lack of a better word) how differently people react to this. In this finnish tattoo board the artists werent thrilled about this, because the culture here is totally different that in the states. Here I think its more gravitated tovards art (in the better shops). Because there arent 50 tattoo shops in one city, like you people can have. And of course anything thats in tv can become crap. But I personally just want to see them do tattoos! :D But then again, not nearly everyobody that watches it would be like that, but they would get into the drama of it. And that would be maybe not so good... Time will tell. I would think that people like Guy etc wouldnt put there name on just antyhing.
Honestly, I hate the name and the underlying concept. given the talent they are getting, the fact that the masses will be able to really see groundbreaking custom tattoos is worth the cheesiness of the gimmik. If they treat the backstories and artists with respect and take their advice then the show has a real opportunity to be very positive for the community and industry. Lets hope they dont blow it.
I attended the Calgary Tattoo convention on September 2nd. I saw Deano Cook and Tom Reinshaw competing for the Tattoo Wars. The crew from TLC were there filming the battle between this experts on realistic wildlife tattoo. Eventually Deano did a beautiful Shark and Tom did a Grizzly, both beautiful. I could tell you who won and all that stuff, but I do not want to spoil it for you. Anyway, I had a chance to speak a little bit with the Chopper King (the producer of this show, you might know him from Biker Build-off) and he told that this is a 6 part series, it will air on TLC at the middle-end of October of this year. If the raitings are good, it will be picked up by TLC for another 12 episodes. SO, if you are at the convention in Boston, you HAVE to go out and vote and at the end cheer with the crowd in order to make this show a success. Want more info? Come on Tattoo Wars this TLC bullshit is really getting out of hand ! Deano Cook and Tom Reinshaw I cant wait to see how they make that battle look on TV ..... I hope they dont edit out the disgruntled bloody switchblade fight that took place .....
I dunno, This seems find of like a bad idea. With the way people take reality Tv so damn seriously these days wouldn't you think that this would brew some large pots of negativity in the Tattoo industry. I'm sure the artists will treat it as a fun venture to hang out and work with other great artists. But the general public might see it as a " who ever loses, don't go to their shop kind of thing" It'd definitely be interesting if done right and hopefully some discretion at the beginning to let people know that each competition is done in good faith and respect to each artist. Just sounds to risky.
I think that all the artists in this show will have clients no problem what happens. They werent exactly popular, and by that I mean Kat Von D kinda popularity, so they will have clients. And if a person sees someones work in TV and its great, but the person "loses" some competition then thats there fault ;) I know there will be people still who fight the good fight and promote these artists, TV or no TV.
That would be great if people decided not to go the defeated artist shop. From that list i would love to get some work from all of them so that would make getting a appointment a little bit easier.
I dont think theres at all a risk of the "losers" suffering a loss of business. people who go to the artists who are going to be featured on this show are generally not the "oh my god Ami is the best tattoo artist ever" crowd. They are much more likely to be more serious collectors of art, who know exactly the quality theyre looking for. The winners of the show might get a little boost in business, but i dont think the runners up will be worrying about their house payments anytime soon.
i was at hell city and got to watch aaron cain and guy atchinson go head to head. some lucky bastard got a sleeve from each of them simultaneously. they were both amazing i have some pics of what they were workin on . the show has real potential!!
Who cares, you dint stop by and say hi?
that would be amazing i would like to see: Mr. Cartoon vs Jack rudy Anil gupta vs Freedy Negretee Cheuy vs Kat Von D bob tyrell vs Pavel Angel lol that would be amazing who do you guys think would win these battles
Jack Rudy would fucking smoke Mr. Cartoon. No contest.
I'll take Chuey from GTC over Kat Von D anyday of the week on some black and grey religious or portrait work...I'd also like to see Robert Hernandez v. Paul Booth, doing some evil sheet...how about battle of the babes, Kari Barba v. Kat Von D, Barba beats that ass 9 out of 10 times....
hey gabe, i was lookin for you bro but to be honest i had forgotten the name of the shop you represent(off the map-i know now) i looked . i had my 4 month old with me and couldn't stay as long as i would've liked to. she got testy so i had to cut it short. i did get a chance to talk to joe capobianco and his shop mate j. let me say those guys are a class act and SO down to earth!!! had fun talkin to them and my wife wants a piece from joe bad! tattoo wars was pretty cool guy and aaron went off on that guy! what a lucky fucker!! gettin two sleeves simultaneously from two of tattooings best!? i'm jealous!! i gotta say that as much as i like and respect guy and his work, i liked aarons work a lil better this time. but they were both very good as you can imagine. .......and gabe, i will make a point to find you next time. we'll sit down and have a drink and shoot the shit.
Hey whats up tattoo world. My name is SABER. I was the blessed test dummy for the Tattoowars. Aaron and Guy went off on both my sleeves. 40 hours consequtivly. It was definitally challenging but very fulfilling. It almost felt like an anitiation or being annointed or something. I have a large back piece from Grime. It is about ten years old. We are friends through the Graffiti art scene as well as Jason Kundell. Anyway both pieces came out amazing and I am very proud to represent the tattoo community. At the end of the judging at Hell City the crowd chose Aaron Cain but I dissagreed and felt both pieces where amazing and that I was the one who won. I ripped the trophy in half vand gave it to both of them. SABER ART WORK REBELS MAD SOCIETY KINGS check my new book out called SABER MAD SOCIETY!!!!!!!!
Hey SABRE. Check out this topic in Adrian Dominics board. Click it Would love to get your side on this topic, because its a good and important matter and your opinnion would be of a great value.
Also. You got a pick of the back piece? Would LOVE to see it. And how did you get to be the lucky one that got tattooed by Guy and Aaron?
Someone mentioned putting Dave Fox up against Joe Capobianco. Why this pair? I see nothing about their styles that has anything in common. But I don't see how Dave would even common close if the subject matter better suited Joe and Dave only having a slight advantage if the subject matter favored Dave.
