Now that they have legalized tattooing in the State of South Carolina, let's get it legalized in the cities. There are a few people in high places that want to zone tattooing out, or they just won't issue a business license. When the state started to pass this bill, there were not a lot of people involved, so we ended up with a few extreme laws, that we can live. What we can not live with is having our rights steeped, our freedom of choice taken away from us, or the GOD GIVING RIGHT of making a legal living, blocked because we did not speak up. So you are going to have to, attend your city council meeting, write letters to your elected council members, and call, call, call, and call again. Make you voice heard, don't put it off till someone else makes your decision for you. You won't like their decision, If none of this mattered we would still be in the woods or underground, and the state would not have had to make this legal, but they did and we are coming out of the woods.
Tattooing legalized in South Carolina, but not in the cities

Fantastic post about how we need to be participants, not spectators. Everyones out to get you, and you have to fight to get your fair share. It takes work to make things change, lots of work, cause there are a lot of people in government who don't care about us. BUT if we all push in the same direction at the same time, then we can acomplish things. If there are some websites with contact info for people who should be reached, post it up here...
So, tattooing is legal in SC? What are the licensing/permit requirements?
i must be shallow but why would tattooing not be legal???????? go figure on that one.
well dianna you are not shallow just not knowlegable in the history of tattooing. this also has to do with your post at the end of "our rights are in danger" that states what does that topic have to do with tattooing..
tattooing has been illegal in south carolina for some time now. it is also still illegal in oklahoma and some dudes are fighting to legalize it like they did in south carolina. tattooing was also illegal in the state of massachusetts and was legalized about 5 years ago or so. same with nyc and the 5 burros. tattooing was illegal there until about 9 or so years ago. the state i work in tattooing was illegal unitl the late 60's. who knows why it was illegal in so many states for so many years. rumor has it that in the early 60's there was a hepatitus outbreak in nyc. so to control that they banned tattooing and most surronding states probably followed suit.well this lead to people fighting for their rights and finally tattooing being legalized. now all of these places have great artists and shops.
it also goes to show that our rights are always right on the verge of being taken away unless people stay aware of whats going on around them and are prepared to fight for them. all it takes is a few nimrods tattoing out of their house fucking people up and the next thing you know all shops are closed. or a better example of loss of our rights is first no smoking in public places and work. next no smoking outside. next no smoking in your car. next we tell you cant smoke in your house. so know and stand up for your rights if you want that happy smoke you ended your last post with.
