TattooNOW Colloborative Art Project

Ok folk, other websites do it, its a shame we havnt yet. Lets all put in a bit of time and energy into a project. I dont really know how these things work, we can discuss and fight about it for a bit. I'd say we so some sorta colloborative flash set, maybe with a loose story/trippy stream of conscience thing happening throughout the set. Send the proceeds through charity, maybe through the itsyourland.com thing we have going on, but Im open to suggestions. Wow! I was wondering why no one even told me this was a bad idea, then I realized because I made it sticky people couldn't reply. So, now you can reply... heh. Oh and for folks who arn't members we could possibly trade some memberships for the flash sheet, we just need to make sure we dont give memberships to anyone... I hate contests, but maybe we can give up a few to the best coupla sheets or something. folks who are already onboard could get banner ads or some such...

I FEAL THERE ARE LOTS OF ARTIST THAT FEEL THEY ARE ON A LEVEL THAT IS SO MUCH GREATER THEN EVERY ONE ELSE.I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT A FEW ARTIST SOME ARE FOCUS ON WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND DO NOT HAVE THE TIME.THAT IS UNDERSTANDABLE.AND SOME JUST THINK THEY ARE TO GOOD FOR STUFF LIKE THAT.I HAVE TRIED TO SEND MY ART TO SOME FELLOW ARTIST THAT WERE REQUESTING ART AND DID NOT EVEN GET THE RESPECT TO EVEN REPLY.OR SOME OTHER BULL ABOUT THERE GALLERY IS BOOKED TILL THE END OF TIME.I PERSONALLY DO NOT CARE I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR A LONG TIME AND CAN PAY MY BILLS JUST FINE.ITS JUST THE POINT.IT SEEMS LIKE THE WORSE THE ARTIST THE BIGGER THE EGO.I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN JOINING IN WITH WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.GOOD LUCK O SORRY ABOUT THE SPELLING.............

Coolio! It'll be fun to figure out a project... What do you guys have a keen interest in thesedays?

Maybe a set off flash.maybe we can do a page of basic stuff but in our own styles like skulls, bio stuff, oriental stuff and so on.So if we can get 4 or five guys we can have 4 or 5 designs per sheet but in 4 or 5 different ways.That way we can just draw up the stuff and send it to tat now and then you can do your thing with it.Im ready .And mike maldonado is only a couple of minutes from my shop and i no he can hold his own.

I hope you guys are going to try to get at least one woman to work on the sheet, after all it wouldn't be a very good collaboration with only all males I think.

I like the idea of 5-6 folks drawing similar tings in their own style. We could also crank out lots of cool small designs to answer the "I want something small" line. Here is a coupla hundred cool little designs are are all unique in some way... maybe....

How about a book so that way if one artist wants to do a flash like page they can and if another artist wants to do a large full page drawing they can. also it might be easier to ship in the mail and so on. then you dont have to worry about 20 or whatever separate pages and dog ears and so on. it doesnt have to be a fancy book you know it could have one of those plastic binders. okay im sure you get my 2 cents.. lol

No...I don't think I could, I'm not a tattoo artist, although I have been drawing for a long time. But as we all know there's a big difference between drawing and tattooing, and I'm nothing but an amateur. But thank you for the invite, hopefully you can get another chick interested.

im down. id love to contribute something. as for the designs, id say try to keep them technically tattooable, but if someone wants to do something a little more artsy and crazy thats cool, just keep it along similar lines, yknow?

So, I guess I was really curious about this, or ready to be berated by a bunch of professional artists, so I'm linking an orginal sketch I did that I'm in the process of coloring in Photoshop. Er, so...hate me less because I'm not a tattoo artist and never will be? This is what onother site did. It seemed to work out well. Hope this helps All participants (Pros Only) submit one design that will be compiled into a set of flash. Each participants name will be added into a raffle for the prize machine. The winner will be drawn at random. After the flash is compiled all participants will given the opportunity to buy the set for material cost .(which will be determined when we find out how many sheets there are.) Here are the specs: Each participant will submit one (1) design that will fit into the theme of the set. The theme will be WEAPONS OF OUR WARFARE. Let me explain. The design can be in any style you choose, but the subject must be or contain a weapon of some sort. You can of course have other design elements in there. Now don’t go all lame and send in 300 daggers and brass knuckles.. Be creative. Get out a weapon catalog and draw something from there. (Suggestions: machine guns, ray guns,bazookas, rockets, bombs, nunchucks, baseball bats, slingshots,whatever, just have fun) Again, any style is fine, but the design must be completely finished. You must provide a line drawing for your design. The design can b e as big as 6” x 9” (inches) ,It can be smaller, but no bigger than 6” x 9”. (Keep in mind that in compiling the sheets your design may be resized to make it fit and flow on the page)

But whats the theme?? Warfare is already done... half sleeves and sleeves? Tiny tattoos? Deadline.... We dont have any machines to give away but we could give away a membership (though that doenst give any incentive to active members...). We could all pitch in for the cost of 1 and so each artist/studio gets a very limited edition copy... Keep it pretty simple...?

what happened? while i'm not an active member, i was interested in participating in this project (maybe win that membership?), and then everyone seemed to lose interest. it seemed like people were roughly in agreement as to the guidlines, but everything came to a stand still when it came to picking a subject. i thought i'd throw some ideas out to see if i can get the ball rolling again... -transportation: hot rod, skateboard, pogo-ball, whatever you call a sweet ride -movie theme: everyone chooses their own or we could base it on something we all agree totally rules it- hopefully something with really vibrant imagery, maybe a classic horror flick? -"mom" tattoo: ok, this might be kind of out there, but what if everyone did their own twists on the quintessential "mom" tattoo? spell out her name in apple pies (or liquor bottles). i see endless potential... anyone with me on this?

Ok, my favorite idea so far is basing the theme on history. Lots of room there, revolutionary war, ancient egypt, anything thats a coupla hundred years old or more. Artists who match a few designs that tell a good historical story get an A+. Each artist participating in the project will do 1 11x14 sheet with 1-x designs. Once we have all the sheets, each artist will pay for one copy of everything (probably 30-50 bucks). Only participating artists get a copy of the flash. The single designs will be sold via TattooNOW and the $$$ will go directly to arts education programs via ItsYourLand.com. So, you guys think 8 weeks is enough time? Hit the project now before summer really kicks in?

Its on then. 11x14 sheets filled with history flash designs (or 1 biggie) can be sent to TattooNOW Collaborative Art Project CO/ Off The Map Tattoo 112 Cottage St Easthampton MA 01027 No crap! Deadline is May 8th. Once we figure how many sheets are in the set we will collect replication $$$ from participating artists. We expect it to be $30-$50 depending on the size of the prioject. Twill be fun!
