It's Mothers Day, and I've been at my mothers house for about three days now, and now I'm bored! This discussion board and drawing up the next part of my tats are the only things that have been keeping me busy. Actually, those are BIG plus's! The design is starting to take shape, and I've had some good exchanges with some great folks.
My mother lives about 140 miles from where I'm at, and I've been up here every other week since mid February when my step-father died after lying in agony for a week from injuries he sustained when he rolled his '95 Softtail down a 30 foot embankment. He was on a Sunday morning group in the Sierra near where they lived, and had only had the bike about 7 months. It was a pretty fucked up deal.
In the end, he was facing permanent paralysis due to 4 obliterated thorasic vertebrae, plus another in his neck, plus broken ribs and various other injuries. Finally, a week after the accident, and two days after an 8 hour surgery to restructure his back so he would eventually be able to sit up, it was his decision that no further intervention be taken if his condition worsened. I can tell you that watching him slip away maybe 8 hours later was a lot easier than seeing him in the disturbing amount of pain he was in. No amount of morphine could help in the condition he was in.
There is a huge void in this house now, and even his little ShiTzu
that he used to take to the local coffer shop with him every morning
still thinks he's going to walk through the door anytime.
What's this have to do with tattoos? I don't know. He did have one of the ugliest monkey tattoos I've ever seen though. Maybe I can find a picture of it.
Peace
TCE
TCE- Ouch. I wish I could say something more meaningful and comforting than "I'm sorry."....
I'm bored too. Kidlet is in bed, Husband went back to CT and I won't see him until next weekend ..... and seeing as I work both days, I'll likely only see him for coffee in the morning before he has to leave again.
Meh. Happy Mothers Day ;/
I've been checking out as many online portfolios as I possibly can for shops in NY and in CT, I cannot believe how much subpar work there is out there. No wonder my back is all f*cked up!
(Present company excluded, mind you. I'm -blown away- by the work I've seen from you guys. Just doin my homework :) )
I took pictures today of my back... It's really funny, when you cant SEE them, its so much easier to forget how awful they REALLY are. I've been in a mood ever since I took a good look.
Saivge,
Thanks.......................the worst is over, at least for me. My mom has had my grandmother here with her since February, and hasn't really had time to grieve alone yet. That will start this week.
I'm not a tattoo artist, I've been drawing parts of my own tattoos to have added to an existing project currently underway. The art out there has really improved over the last 20 years since I got my first work. Some of it is simply amazing!
If you're not happy with the work on your back, I'm sure one of these talented lads or lass's can do something with it.
Taking pictures of yourself is fun, isn't it? I did it myself just last week. Quite the challenge.
Good Luck

Greif is a tough thing. I've been losing people left and right for the last three years. I can only imagine how hard it's been for her and yourself. Words always fall embarassingly short for this sort of thing.
I -love- photography. I just don't have the equipment of my own anymore to drag around at the hip :) I did take a bunch of shots of some roses and such today for reference. They were too perfect -not- to get shots of.
I was hoping that by taking shots of the ... bleh... ink on my shoulderblades, that I"ll be able to show someone what needs to be covered, and see if it will work with the concept I have.
Even thinking of them is making me cringe in embarassment.
On a good note, I picked up some great watercolor brush pens today. -glee-
saiyge i noticed in one of your recent posts you listed nyc/ct as your location. i work in ct. and will have a booth at the nyc convention. stop by and check me out if want. my names jay crockett and ill be splitting a space there with erik desmond. id be interested in seeing what you want covered...
Hallo Crockett :)
Whereabouts are you in CT? I've never been to a convention, it would be interesting to see if I could swing it :)
I could send you the pictures, if you like, along with the idea I had to cover the mess.
It's pretty bad.... Atrocious even.
Oh! Found your site! :)
You are pretty much smack dab betwixt where I'm at now, and where I will be moving -to- It's a bit of a drive from where I am, but it isnt -too- bad.
Man, I hate Danbury, anytime I have to go through there on 84, I'm a mess!
Saiyge...If you can possibly in any way or how make it to the convention you SHOULD!!!!...And e-mail me pics of yer tattoo...I may have some ideas for ya!!!!...TAz
