Taz Then how come I was loaning your top piercer money to pay bills? And how come there were times when I could barely pay mine? There's no other possible way to provide any work history or proof of income. Unless you file the I9 I believe claiming to have made such and such money from your employees renting "booth space" in your business. Not that I was worried about it, the truck came free to me and I didn't expect anything for it from you until you had told nearly insisting that you'd give me money for it. No big deal 200 bucks I figured he'll pay me when he can. Since working there I've finished, or touched up, or added onto, 6 tattoos of your's. Two of which you paid me for. The rest of those tattoos you'd told me you were either going home , not going to be there, sick and wouldn't be there to do them , and that you'd pay me to do them. The first two I touched up for you you paid me 40 bucks a piece for. I figured that would be the same for the rest, so I figured that's about 160.00 dollars worth of YOUR tattoos that I did. Then the issue concerning my 475.00 deposit. You, My Landlord, and I, all agreed that he would keep my deposit and credit it to your lease agreement and that you would refund me that deposit yourself. Giving you time to come up with it. I understand not many people have 500 dollars laying around. So I wasn't rushing to get that money from you nor did I ever mention the fact how bad I needed it or even attempt to bring up a timeframe as far as when I'd get that money. Now we're talking about 835 dollars. Take off the 50 bucks you gave me last week. 785.00 dollars. That 50 bucks I wondered and even asked you what that 50 was for, You replied with " times are slow I understand ya need some cash" as if the money you owed me was non-existent. The washer and dryer , initially you had insisted that you purchase them and would give me at least 75 dollars for the pair of them. They are in good working condition and I hope you do get plenty of usage out of them. Then you had asked the question about how I was just going to leave them there, and I figured well ok he's a busy man he's forgotten all about paying for those appliances , no big deal he's helped me out alot and he's a good guy and been a friend to me and my family. We traded the desk for the foot pedals, the other pedal to which I probably will never see. The berringer amplifier and the reciever were both gifts according to your words and I feel no reason to argue that with you. I regret that our personal business concerning this house and some shitty worn used couches have cost me my livlihood , and honestly had I known you were this kind of man I'd never have wasted my time in Saint Joseph. Thank you for the opportunity to work there I appreciate that. I learned some things. Mostly things that I would refuse to do in a shop I run. But very valuable information at any rate. I was a bit I guess let down, that outside personal business led you to fire me, but more so that you weren't even man enough to do it yourself. You had Tim do it, over some fucking couches. I understand Tim is under your thumb so to speak and pretty much has to do whatever you tell him , but I feel that was a pretty cowardly act. Him , nor anyone else in that shop had nothing to do with the business that transpired between you and I concerning this furniture and the house. But who am I to tell you how to run your shop. The tension between you and I had been rising lately since Nathan's been back , maybe that is what led to my dismissal. maybe I'd been doing subpar tattoos. I don't know but whatever the case is, I do feel owed my deposit of 475 dollars at a bare minimum and would like to know your thoughts on this issue."ME. And I wouldn't be suprised if all the tattoos I've started refuse to come back there if I"m not the one doing them. I have a very good relationship with nearly all my clients. Now about the problems concerning the shop and your ethics. I tattooed for you for what 6 months? I don't have a license. You told me it'd be "state is $75 " funny thing they tell me it's only 37.00. But you're not out to make money off of me. What kind of stickler for the law abiding "professional shops" must you be allowing an unlicensed tattoo artist to tattoo your clients? I'm sure you've got their best interest in mind and not your own wallet. Yeah I benefitted I got to tattoo I did good tattoos. I did clean tattoos. Best linework in your shop, you said. And contrary to what you may be saying now, I never once ever , had anyone including yourself, tell me I was unclean in my tattoo practices. YOUR methods on the other hand may be subject to scrutiny. While guiding Kel through her very first tattoo EVER. You repeatedly put your bare,UNWASHED hands on her equipment ;ie, needle, tube,tounge depressor, machine, clip cord, pen. And expected her to tattoo herself with that exact same equipment. Dare I say cross contamination? Ultrasonic. How can these REUSABLE steel tubes and clamps possibly be clean if they're not completely submerged into the ultrasonic. They're dipped, thrown into a dirty tupperwear container, with dirty hands, thrown on a dirty piercing table,with dirty hands, and placed into STERILIZATION bags, then ran through an autoclave with enough shit floating in the bottom of it that you could choke on that TAP water, NOT DISTILLED. Many times , and Nathan your prodigal son can attest to this one, we'd have to go through multiple "sterile" packages to find a tube without pigment still laying in the tube. If you're taking things out of an autoclave to put them into your clean tattoo room, what good is it if you're not wearing gloves when you handle the damn packages? My only regret is wasted time there Taz. I learned quite a bit, and yes you were very gratious and nice. When I was making you money. All your employees are great people, even you are an ok guy. But business wise, and ethically I think you're a bit of a shark. Toying around online is one thing, fucking with the health and livlihood of people is another. I feel sorry for your son in that he has great potential but will have to fight against your reputation in that town for the rest of his life. I feel glad for myself to have gotten away from that shop in that I'll no longer have to fight your reputation and am free to pursue building my own based on my own merit. Best of luck to you in your endeavors and I hope you step up your game a bit if you intend to keep clients.

Been keepin clients for a LOT of years Jeremy!! And I don't think you not making it here is gonna affect us too much...I don't think I will lose much sleep over it! Jeremy, I would like to make a couple of things clear. 1. I am the head piercer and you never loaned me money. 2. It's funny how our shop was wonderful until you were fired. 3. Lets talk about your warrents.(now you should tell everyone why you cant get a licence to do anything until you get them paid off.) and how the agreement was 1 month. 4.When it comes to fixing tattoos I know for a fact Taz had to fix 2 of your due to the issue of them being very crooked.(hints the reason the next star you did I hounded Taz to let you ues stencils) 5.Lastly, our shop is city and state licenced. We are inspected twice a year at least. I dont not like the fact the you are running our name though the dirt. 6.Oh, Oh there was also the talk we had with you about making our female clients very uneasy. And Innapropriate conversations you were having with them. Now I am not going to inslut you or bring you personnal business(except the warrents) up on this forum. Our clients come to us with the need for good tattoo work and piercings. We provide this and you know it. This shop is my life I have learned so much from my father(TAZ) that I cannot thank him enough. Remember he took you out of the scratcher world and brought you into a professional shop. And for being a scratcher how come my tattoos were reportedly by your father, the best to come out of his shop? Secondly Tassja, do you have any fucking clue what a sexual harrasment law suit would do to ANY business. If it was not for Taz I would not be where I am at today.He has taught me every thing I know about tattooing. He is a good man and a good human being and a hell of a tattoo artist. A professional shop that provided ink, needles, booth, and any other supply you would need to tattoo with........... for FREE!!!! Its not like the state just skips us when inspection time comes around. We always pass with flying colors and have the documents to prove it. Yeah whatever issues u had mate for what ever reason who or what was in the wrong, i dont recon this was right way to go about it. On the stencil subject.. as an artist i probably would have more peace of mind having them use a stencil then free hand .. id probably only ever freehand on myself if i ever learnt the craft of inking.

Taz, I think in all fairness to the wise words of freehanding that you've spoken about in the past, you should at least post some pics of your work, or at least a link. You definetly talk the talk, and I'm sure I speak for quite a few when i say.. do you walk the walk????????

So are people saying that he should have paid for it? Because I got the feeling that Corey asked the question like he would be suprised if he had to pay. Am I right? here is the thing: this whole thing is private matters between people we dont have any business inquiring about. it really shouldnt even have been brought up on a public forum as these are private matters in the first place. no one that isnt there has any business in this whole ordeal and i think we should let it rest. taz is a good person and doesnt deserve to have his shop and name run through the mud at all. people that are reading this and actually know what is going on i am sure would appreciate if we just let this chill and didnt continiue to beat a dead horse. things fall apart all the time and maybe they werent meant to be. the world isnt perfect and you have to look at things that didnt work out as opportunites to find something that will work better, not by hashing out private matter with strangers.

In fact it should be public, because the public deserves to know the character of whom they are being tattooed by, good or bad. They also deserve to know how and whom they are apprenticing. Well, after a ten month hiatus, the drama returns!

in all fairness towards BOTH PATYS and all involved this kind of shit just happens with shop owners employees and such tazs shop is not and will not be the first shop this kind of incident has happened.ive left a cpl shops with bad feelings between my self and owner and employee and so be it it wont be the first and sure as hell wont be the last. its just a pert of the trade feelings get hurt and the need to defends ones actions honor and such gets addressed. you want drama come on over to my house we can set around and watch these damm teens get cocky threaten my familys life and such and when i show up poof there running scared they refuse to put up or shut up. this dilema here has probably happened to every shop out there at least 1 time or another. in defense for taz the last shop i was in we hired a kid from his area i talked to taz over this matter via phone he WARNED ME but with my hands tied i couldnt do anything and i ended up getting screwed real bad. we all have good and bad in us none of us are above any other we all walk on the same planet mother earth. just some random thoughts

but we can see joe's artwork. and there is a truth in this, but i doubt it will come from any of the descendents of the trailer park of taz, or from his apprentice. you're both biased. all we can do is look at all the arguments put forth and make a decision as to what we think about it all. i'm just interested in taz still refusing to post artwork, and not addressing the stencil issue.

Holy crap that was a long read......and wonderful......Kandyman you kill me...I am fan of your work, hope to get your art some day....at least I've seen your work....You make it so your work is avalible to see, by the public, to judge and to want to recieve your art....which is always clean by the way... anyone reading between the lines....sometimes I wonder... if there really is a TAZ, because nobody has seen his great tattoo work, ever.... everyone has asked, over and over...

Hopefully this works. I forget which code to use. Supposedly the best tattoo done at the Painted Angel. My tattoo , this is a healed picture, My buddy decided not to shave his leg for the picture. Taz has the just finished picture of it. I'm not ashamed of my tattoos in the least you see. I am never happy with the outcome. I always see something more I would like to do to it. Or wish I'd have done differently. Another one I did while at the Painted Angel. Not a horrible tattoo but the lines are a bit shakey, some varying lineweights could have done some dramatic changes as well. Not too mention the empty spots on the jaw. Not the cleanest linework ever but not a horrible tattoo. Not one I"m extremely proud of but definately not ashamed to show. This one I was proud of it is on my leg. And it's an effect I still don't think I've even come close to mastering. There's another one on my leg that I'm extremely proud of being it's my first real attempt at a black and grey. The part about this that truly saddens me is that I'll most likely never recieve copies of the tattoos I had done while at the Painted Angel. Not the ones I'd done on friends, not the ones on walk in customers, not the customs, not the finish-ups-reworks I'd done for Taz. I feel that if you're a tattooist/tattoo artist, and a piece of your soul does not go into EVERY tattoo you do , then you're in the wrong business and your clients deserve better. The part that really deeply hurts me is that this man owns those images and I will never have them. Making him a thief of my soul and my life's work. Any artist who's ever had any of their art stolen should know what I'm talking about here. For the record I didn't get kicked out of my home, I left and offered the place to Taz because he didn't have one. The part about throwing nickels was pretty damn good though. As for being called out on a forum by anyone lol. There's my tattoos, that's the work I do. Critique it I need the advice and the humbling. we all do. I'd say I've got 5 years experience actually tattooing. Most of it the wrong way. Nearly all of it the wrong way. I'm not ashamed to admit that. I started tattooing friends with guitar strings and not a care in the world about their health , mine, or the amount of mean ass karma I was setting up to come back my way. I'd say I've got about 2-3 years worth of work that I'm content with my safe tattooing practices. On that same note I've done absolutely fucking NO tattoos I'm completely happy with.

Damn! there is some feedback going on in here Since I don't know what really went wrong, all I can say is that this could've been avoided by simply talking face to face, man to man. If that didn't work you would have invited the other party to a nice clean alley fight and let the fist decide who's right. Jer is an awesome guy from what I've known through TattooConnect and he had high hopes on this apprenticeship. Taz is a cool guy from what I've know from both places and he always try to help the novice. Hehad great intentions by offering Jer a place to apprentice under. It may have not worked for non of you...so what..move on, get up and do it again, and again. Unless you had a contract with the shop outlining the terms I personally would have never gave up my house, couch tv etc. That's like jumping from a plane with no parachute. But again I am used to the Miami way, where you turn back and there is a mofo ready to stab you. Some times people promise more than what reality can offer, but it's our job to do some research. I truly believe that Taz didn't mean to hire Jer to boot him a few month later out the street. Some times things just don't work out and someone has to go and move on. I've been fired from jobs, just like that, butt naked on the street with tons of bills to pay and no money for tomorrow's mean, but again the last thing I would do is to come to a message board and start exposing my personal problem in public. Why would I do that? is that the way to operate to find a solution "if I really want a solution" Well, I don't think so. Personally, I applaud Jer for posting this. Tattoo collectors obviously put A LOT of TRUST in their artists. It truly helps to hear the experiences of others.

Don't waste your time FK. I won't be recieving any money. He'll most likely make a half assed attempt to tell me he'll pay me in payments whenever he can, IF THAT. And I'll never get it. Reminds us all that not matter how thin you slice something, there is still two sides to it. I hope the shitty get less shitty, and the shit on get a chance to clean off. All and all i hope alot of people learn and better themselves from it. I just avoided about an hour of mindless tv while reading this real life adventure. I will also go the the shop sat (my monday, today is my friday night) with a boost to my greatfullness of my situation. So i have gained something from this at least. the dinosuars died because they didnt adapt. Theres no more room in the trade for shitty shops and scratchers.
