touching up or redoing a tattoo

5 messages · last activity 8/2/2005

i just very recently got a tattoo and it turns out it's not exactly all i wanted it to be. the picture i brought in was of the full moon. i wanted it to be more realistic looking with much greater detail in shading and with the man in the moon more emphasized... over all i just wanted it to be a "soft" tattoo because of the symbolism of the moon and what it means for feminism. instead it has turned out to just be black gray and skin tone, and very angular. does anyone have any advice as to what my options are as far as redoing the tattoo, or having it fixed to make it look more like i want it to look? (and how much it might cost?)
maybe u can get part of the tattoo lasered..what city do u live in? we can recommend an artist,or a laser place to go to..
i'm in boston, but i'm also closer to go to salem, nh. where there are a lot of tattoo parlors.
I would say go back to the artist and explain to him what you are feeling about your tattoo. I know my artist (who is my hubby) would rather someone who was not happy come back in and talk about options than to be unhappy with the artwork he put on them. maybe it just needs some softer greys or even some wash added to make it softer. Good luck. If you are not comfortable going to that artist, go to another shop and let them see the tattoo and ask their advice.
go see www.julimoon.com in seabrook..she is a very good artist..you really have to put effort into choosing the right artist to do a certain style of tattooing..it seems like u wanted alot of detail in the tattoo, and the artist didn't convey that for you..check out Carson Hill's work,at www.triedntruetattoo.com he put's alot of detail in his work.. and www.sanctuarytattoo.com Chris, and Wilhelm,do detailed work..
