I would have to say anything having to do with looney tunes should not be tattooed on anyone. I couldn't tell ya how many big ass guys I've seen with a fucking tazmanian devil or marvin the martian, yosemite sam, etc.......... Christ I wish they would've put some thought into it!!!

I'd still consider getting a cool Wile E. Coyote Tattoo, I can relate to the twisted genius who's plans constantly backfire.

wile e. would be alright but ya gotta love the guys who have the yosimite sam "back off" tattoo that is also on their mudflaps! My buddy has some kanji on his arms that he thinks means "brave warrior" but we always tell him it says "dick head" or "cock sucker".

How about the praying hands? It seems like everyone has that. You may not regret the meaning but maybe the unoriginality.

Are pirate flags or pirate related tattoos big? i was thinkin (and afraid) they would be after the pirates of the caribbean came out...but i wasn't sure.

I still have 2 years to think about what i want but i was thinking of a crying angel with flames wrapping around her legs with very long elegant wings. This would also end up a full forearm tattoo. I came up with that design yesterday and is very prone to change. Personally, if a design doesnt have a meaning, its stupid as hell.

I have stars on my wrist. Stars have a lot of meaning to me and always will and therefore will never need a cover up. Why cant you people let others get what they want, rather than judging them. Why do you even need a thread generalising certain tattoos, its pathetic.

This is not a bash, and I'm almost sure this doesn't fall under regrettable, but I'm just curious about folks who get their kids portraits tattooed on their bodies. What happens when the kid blossoms into something far more gorgeous than the plump little 2 year old toadie that he or she was when you got that tattoo? Is this like annual school pictures, where you just keep adding one upon your mantel every year of each childs life until you have no more room left? I mean, if you have three kids, and you have them all done at the same time like a family portrait, that's not really fair to the one who hasn't quite reached their peak, or the one who is going through an ugly stage. Now of course, I'm not a parent, and with the exception of a loss, I cannot understand the drive to have a single moment of my childs life forever etched upon my skin. TCE

Mellissa, I believe the point of this thread is as the name implies and may hopefully help prevent others from making the same mistake. As to you saying 'Why cant you people let others get what they want, rather than judging them', I think it's more that some tattoo artist know and care about the fact that some folks don't really think things out very well BEFORE they get their work AS THEY SHOULD and some of us take enough pride in our profession and work that we do not want to put anything on someone we know from experience will most likely be regretted. I tell people this ain't like picking out a hair style, if ya don't like that it will grow back, tattoos are an entirely different thing, and deserve a lot more thought. I know there are a LOT of folks that think it is our job to do whatever they want, no matter what it might be but some of us simply don't work that way and I believe THAT is the point of this thread...Doc

Yes alot fo what you guys say does upset me, but that doesnt mean im going to bow down and crawl away. It means i will give my opinion and hope that someone may take it on board and thinkabout it. I am not asking any1 to accept my opinion but just to tlet it enter into their minds and think about it.

Some other regrettables: the lurid nude with legs apart... the skull smoking a joint... the sign of a group i no longer belong to. Along with everyone else, i'd say you should only ink yourself with what you know has permanent meaning. That's why i've got spiritual symbols (no praying hands, no OM, no angel) and magical animals. Boy am i glad i thought twice about the skull-headed nude smoking a joint!

TCE... Just so you know my man, I have a lot of respect for you and your opinions. Yes. My heart is in the right place, and I try to walk the walk every day. I don't dispense anything without thinking about wether it's something I could live with, or I'd want someone I love or not to live with. I'm not always right. My opinion is just my opinion. Some people will agree with me, some people will not. That's what makes all this pretty great. It's a good place to get a lot of different opinions from a lot of different people who DO care, including you. Still think you need a daughter of your own though. It'd mellow your ass out a bit.

Jwerk...the REAL counter culture(s) don't need an icon or logo...these groups of nonconformists exhibit their membership by ATTITUDE...by how they live and comport themselves...don't mistake counter cultures for fads...you know the kids who insist that they are "different" and then make every effort to look the same as the other different kids....things like the heartagram are pure fad and fashion none of which have any deep meaning or longevity.
