want to be an apprentice

6 messages · last activity 1/18/2005

i have been drawing for my whole life and drawing at least 9 hrs a day. want to find an artist in L.A. i don't drink or do drugs. AIM [email removed] or email me. i have a portfolio of water color, pencil and color pencil.
Best advice, if this is something your really interested in doing. Put together a proper portfolio of your art, and start hitting shops in your area (reputable shops). Basically it's like a job interview, if an artist see's something in your art than perhaps you'll get lucky. I say get lucky because now's not the greatest time to try and get into this business, things are pretty saturated as of the last few years, and every one and there brother feel's they got what it takes to be a tattoo artist. Also IM not saying be picky, but be careful where you decide to apprentice. This business is full of apprentice horror stories, and full of artists who were kinda thrown in the deep end. Artists who probably should have never been allowed in the shallow end to begin with. If you really got what it takes, than someone with a good reputation, who cares a bit, will see that in you. Best of luck... J.Capobianco Hope Gallery New Haven CT www.joecapobianco.com
