Probably to some hacker in a dirty kitchen. 14 years old should get tattoos 4 years in the future.
If you spent the next 4 years researching tattoo artists and designs and thought real hard about what you wanted, then you would truely set yourself apart from the other kids who got crap tattoos when they were too young because they didnt know or care about the art.
GABE, YOU ARE SOOOOOOO RIGHT!!! IF YOU REALLY WANT A TATTOO YOU WILL WAIT TILL YOU ARE 18. THAT REALLY SHOWS YOU ARE MATURE, IF YOU GET TATTOOED BEFORE THEN YOU ARE JUST A KID WHO DOSE NOT NO WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I HAVE A HUSDAND WHO TATTOOS AND I CAN TELL YOU THAT BOTH OF ARE CHILDREN WILL NOT BE TATTOOED BEFORE 18. PLEASE DON'T INK YOURSELF BEFORE YOUR TIME.
Besides, when you're 14 your body is not done growing. If you are 14, you might want to consider this because you could get a tattoo for example, on the top of your arm, in a few years when your body is done growing it may and up half-way across your armpit!
I do not know of any place that would tattoo a 14 year old. The youngest I know they will let you is 16 with a parents permission but whats the fun in that?
lets hope to god that there isn't a reputable shop that will do a tattoo on a young person. i have seen this before and while the tattoos look good, as i think they all do. i DO NOT belive in minors getting them. there is plenty of time left to think about what you want and if you realy want it instead of doing it because friends have them and you want to be cool.all tattoos should have a meaning to you and not just done in an instant decision.
if a parent is going to allow a 14 year old to get tattooed then maybe someone should look into getting the parents some help. At 14 you cant decide what shoes to wear with what outfit. How are you going to decide what you want on your body for the rest of your life. I have one from when I was 18 years old that I regret to this day. I can only think of one instance in our shop when we tattooed someone under 16, and there were special circumstances for her. She was dying and she knew it her dream was to have a tattoo when she passed, she got an angel.
14 year old children shouldn't get tattoos. Even if there parents can't understand that it is not in the best interest of the child. In some states it is concidered assult on a minor even if the parent gave the ok. I think that is a bit harsh but the reality is 14 year old children don't even have a concept of time developed enough to understand the commitment a tattoo requires. It will be with you the rest of your life. Maybe if you were part of a culture that getting tattooed that young was excepted and you most likely would be married shortly after and die young due to a life of breeding and labor. You live in judgemental consumer based culture that won't even let you flip chemical filled hamburgers with a visible tattoo. You should just buy an outfit that makes you feel cool and maybe pierce you nose, at least you can remove it, and wait till your 18.
you all are fags if you wnat a tattoo then get one just be ready to face the consequences later on in life. Im 14 and i have a tatto of my idol Tupac Amura Shakur and im so happy i got it done. I dotn know why it pisses off you older people so much if you have a tatto why cnat we. I know many older adults with tattoos that they gor when they wqere in there 30s that they regret for getting so who cares.
i wont tattoo anyone under 18..
KENTUCKY TATTOOS
Well if your idol is Tupac that pretty much shows your maturity
anyway...in most states it is illegal to tattoo a minor and with good reason....and NO I repeat NO competent tattoo artist will tattoo anyone under 18 PERIOD!!...TAz
Yeah, I was gonna say about the same thing. Tupac's your idol huh? Well I'm sure he'd love to meet you. He'll probably send you a card on your birthday.Maybe he'll call you up the next time he's in town... OH WAIT! I GUESS NOT! HE'S FUCKING DEAD! Well, no worries. Do something cool like "GANGSTA" in old english. I'm sure he'd approve. Well, I mean, I guess he would... well, if he knew anyway.
That's why you don't get a tat at 14.
Prime example of immaturity!!
Wassup Al??
Not much homeshack! Never tire of these 14 year old threads.
To negroplease. NEGRO PPPLLLLEEEEAAAAASSSSSEE! Just lioke the tazman said, If tufuckinpac is your idol, then you got some major growth to experience! How ya gonna feel in ten years with some washed up dead rapper tattooed on your body? I mean no disrespect but gangster rap went out with three finger rings my dude! Not trying to break your balls but it seems like you have enough trouble spelling let alone making a decision on what to put on your body. Seriosly, get back to me when your 21 and let me know what kind of ridicule you're facing by everyone else! Taz, I think I'm gonna come see ya for a portrait of Rick James.
And I'll do it with blacklight ink!!!
Fuggin A that sounds good my man, I was also thinkin about getting a portrait of Benny Hill on the side of my neck! haha. Tupac, just when ya thought it couldn't get anymore lame! Wait a minute..... I can top it.. let's dig a little deeper... na, fuggettt about it uh!
yeah the Benny hill one would be oh so cool!!
I no were kids get tattoos.Down the block from Me.Every day.And this guy has links to certain professional associations on his site.It is a joke.
Tazman, did Gabe take the animal tattoo off the forum?
...Its down there just look dammit!!...TATTOOS ON PETS!!!
ITS THERE!
Okee my friend, don't have a stroke! That was the funniest thing I've heard you say on any of these!!! Someone give this man a mic!!!!
I will post this here, I originally posted it in the other 14 year old wants to get a tat thread....it applies to both threads!
Ok here is my 2 cents.....let me tell you my story!
When I was 14, my buddy and I (14 also) were downtown Toronto. We went into this tattoo shop and decide that we wanted to get tatt'ed up!
We asked the artist and he said no, we said our parents were cool with it. We called my buddys sister (she was 16 at the time) and she told him that she was our mother and she was cool with it!
So this artist said ok. At the time I thaught he was the coolest for agreeing to do it! Now lookin back... that was dumb on our part and the STUPIDEST thing that artist could have done!
so I got the road runner tatted on my upper arm. The coolest thing ever!!!!
I am now 29 with a stupid road runner on my arm! (which may I say where it is on my arm, would have been a PRIME peice of real estate to get a nice shoulder peice done.. which I cant because of a stupid road runner!
Don't get me wrong... the tattoo turned out good,
but I wish
A) I didn't get a road runner,
B) I didn't waste such a good spot!
Just think about it ALOT before you do something stupid!!!
Baker sendz.........
Tanx Pauly me pal!!...The Tazettes even got a chuckle and they are some mean assed bit....OW!!! FUCK!!...see what I mean?
See ya!!...TAz
And thanks for your post Baker...and yes you can get that shoulder piece...I LOVE doin covers!!...TAz
Hey I may be the new kid on the block (only been on tattoonow for about a week or 2)
If I have any knowledge to pass on, i will! I got enough tips info from you Taz...
and if I am ever in your neck of the woods, I may just stop by for some work! (I would make an appointment first of course! :)
Baker sendz.........
Would be happy to see ya baker...Thanks!!
fuck that tupac is the best and that tatoo is nice. fuck u old muthafuckas callin us immature when u guys r hatin on a legend
Think you're on the wrong forum there partna, This isn't "me against the world" Gangbangas' R' us, This is a tattoo forum! I was a big fan of Tupac also (Ten years ago). Times change my friend, and also I'm sure the tat is "tight", but does anyone really wanna carry that around the rest of their life? Why not Charlie manson or Ted Bundy? Either way, people are gonna look at that tattoo and get a negative outlook on ya, even if your not some gun toting, hip, gangster wanna be! The world has moved past that dumb shit, maybe you should to. Any wise words Taz?
Yeah ...a legend in YOUR mind
shit man im only 14 years old and i got one on my back that my mom dosent even know about. there is this guy in town that has a tattoo place in his house he is really good hes really clean and kinda cheep my tattoo turned out great couldent be anyhappy. soo for all them people that say wait till your 18 just tell them to blow you and just ask around your school and friends where u can go to get a tattoo and then your sure to get one!
Put up or shut up!!
Show us your tattoo...better yet tell me who did it so we can see he gets thrown in prison. I don't blame you...you are a kid and ya don't know any better...the so called tattoo artist DOES know betterand I would like nothing more than to have a private conversation with him to show him the error of his ways!!
Anyone else ? what do you all think of a punk who tattoos 14 year olds in his house??....TAz
oh yeah tupac is the fucking man and if someone wants to idol him them let them and once again two Tupac is the greatest rapper that ever was so fuck all yall!
what are u some kind a prep sayin u wnat to see this dude be throw in prisen let him do what he wants. i think it is a great idea him tattoing 14 year old well i sure as hell do and i think we are old enough to make our own descions
Yeah well ok Kid you got it!! A prep? what does bein a preppie have to do with giving children...and yes little man you are a chil!!...giving children tattoos? I thought a prep is a young person who wears conservative clothing from the Gap or something...?????
your so square Taz.
Listen you 14 year olds, we aren't your @#$%ing parents. We aren't the !@#$%ing preppies. We are the professionals in the tattoo industry and we know better. We are people who know about what it takes to get unique creative tattoos that will be on your body for the rest of your life, and how easy it is to be 14 and think you know it all. We are all covered in tattoos, most of them good, but there are plenty of mistakes on this board. If you are stupid enough to believe that a truely talented tattoo artist will tattoo a 14 year old, then you will get the tattoo you deserve. Just remember, the coverup always costs more and has to be bigger. You can say you wern't told...
Lastly, all you kiddies with the bad ass tattoos, just post them already. I mean for christs sake you all talk about how great they are, let see! You must have a myspace page or something... Every time one of you kids says how wonderful it is to get a tattoo without posting a photo for us to look at you are just losing points for your argument...
let me just re-post this text, because I think it says it all.
"oh yeah tupac is the fucking man and if someone wants to idol him them let them and once again two Tupac is the greatest rapper that ever was so fuck all yall!
what are u some kind a prep sayin u wnat to see this dude be throw in prisen let him do what he wants. i think it is a great idea him tattoing 14 year old well i sure as hell do and i think we are old enough to make our own descions.
Mother of God. I laughed my ass off. I gotta go. My sides hurt.
Tell you what though, I asked a friend of mine (a black man) who he would put on his arm (instead of Tupac) and he says Mohammed Ali. Now that's more like it. You wanna talk about an idol. I love to do this. It's like "Alien vs. Predator vs. Darth Vader, etc." So we put Tupac in the ring with Ali in his prime... Hell, we even give him a baseball bat. I'm thinkin Tupac lasts about .35 seconds. Man. Tupac. We gotta re-examine our heroes.
The only way I would condone a Tupac tattoo is if this man had some sort of an impact on your life and you are old enough to understand the difference between that impact and an idolization. I have seen plenty of celebrity tattoos that were actually very nice pieces of art however the people who have these tattoos are people who were in some way affected by the celebrity that is tattooed on them and are a lot older than 14..At 14 you are not old enough to understand the difference between an idol and someone who deserves that spot on your body... Tupac was a very good lyricist and a pretty good actor ,unfortunately at 14 you were too that means you where what? 2-3 years old? You were too young for Tupac to have an impact on your life unless you personally knew him. Without going on the net and searching name me ten Tupac songs and 5 album titles...Are you serious 14.... you dont know jack about Tupac sonny.....
forgot to mention.....Tattooing a 14 yr old IS wrong.........its just a way too make a quick dollar and if your "artist" doe stattoo 14 yr olds he really doesnt give a crap about the client and you should take that into consideration before trusting him with your bodies largest organ....
As previously mentioned, if these tattoos are so great, why aren't they published for the world to see? Do yourselves a favor, just wait. I can't believe its already that time that I'm talking to kids that were born in the 90's that justify getting tattoos in houses.
". fuck u old muthafuckas callin us immature when u guys r hatin on a legend"
Where did you steal that line, straight out of John Cena's school of thuganomics?
I swear some of you ignorant ass teenagers are too damn stubborn too listen to good advice when its being thrown in your faces.
Most of the people who have responded to your posts are trying to prevent you clowns from making the same mistakes we did when we were your age. There is absolutely no way to tell if the tattoo you get when you're 14 or 15 is going to be something that you're going to love until you're 50. In fact its pretty stupid. Teenagers are impatient, fickle and indecisive, whats cool today will be played out next year. But we've all been there and its just a part of growing up. Point is, you'll have a better understanding of what a good tattoo idea is vs. a bad one when you're a little older and out in the real world.
Every day people come into our shops and tell us horror stories about the tattoos they had done when they were still in high school and now they desperately searching for good artists to cover them up. Everyone makes mistakes, its just a part of being human. But all of us have been there and done that. We've been tattooed and we have our regrets. The difference is, we're not trying to let you all make the same mistakes on your skin if you dont have too. In case you havent noticed THIS SHIT IS PERMANENT. So y'all can go out and make all the mistakes and fuck-ups you want but listen to the voices of reason when they're telling you not to jack up your skin for the rest of your life. Sure you'll live through it, but you're just increasing the odds of you not liking your tattoos when you're older for one reason or another. Wait your turn and chill out. I can promise you that if you were to wait until you were at least 18 or 19 you'll remember a few ideas that you'll be looking back on thinking "Damn, i'm glad i didnt do that..."
Besides getting a stupid tattoo that you'll hate, there are plenty of other risks to keep in mind. As was stated, no self-respecting 'artists' will tattoo a 14 year old. Those who do are just trying to make a quick buck. They're not going to give you the best tattoo for your money and they just wont care.
Do you work yet?? What if it seems like a great idea to run out and get '2Pac' tattooed on your neck or hand? Oh shit, guess what? You just shot your chances of getting a respectable job in the ass. Unfortunately there are far too many businesses that frown on tattoos and that one little piece could be the difference between you getting the job you've always wanted. Not saying you wont get one AT ALL, but you're not making it any easier for yourself.
What about the health risks? Like i said, there are enough impatient teenagers running around that only have tattoos in their minds and arent concerned with the artists reputation or whether their shop is clean or not. Thats apparent because of the amount of youngn's out there with their handpoked tats, done in some dudes kitchen over a couple of cold ones. Get real. Diseases happen and if you're not careful or patient enough, you'll end up catching something that you REALLY dont want all because of some supid ink that you just HAD to have like TODAY.
These are the sorts of things that run through our minds when we tell you to wait for your turns and keep quiet about it. If you have a tattoo that you love and you're only 15, good for you. You may very well be one of the lucky ones. But not everyone gets off so easy and its not something you want to turn into a habit.
So stop being so damn defensive when people offer you advice. Take it in stride and keep it all in the backs of your minds whenever you consider getting tattooed. Everyones gotta go through it and we dont want you to fuck yourselves up if you dont have to.
Take advantage of the advice given
wont this subject die already....only because i have to turn kids away every freaking day it grates under my skin....hey kids if youd like to change thelaws that consider it child abuse for a minor to have a tattoo then get out there and talk to your congressman or senator..go vote...oh wait you cant because your opinion isnt mature enough for it to be respected...thats how it s been through history....your not smart enough to make your owndecisions..and neither was i when i was 14...of course the scratchers who tatted you are probably laughing their asses of at how easy you were to take advantage of....and then there those of us who worked to get here....we sit around and laugh at the tattoos they put on you.
that's my question too but im 13 goin on 14 in june so yeah i really one to know cause i have the perfect idea for one
you kevin were you from
...?
Go home and draw tattoos on your barbies that is if Mommy will let you play with pens and other sharp objects
actually im 17 and have 2 tattoos, but one that im going to keep and get the other one covered, not because i dont like the design, but because the guy that did it didnt do it very pro. you can c where he picked p the needle from a little brake or wtever and then started again, but im am ver happy wit the first one that i've had for about a yr and a hal or 2 yrs, and i still like it. But its kinda a significant symbol, its not really a gang thing, but my own litle gang thing. Its my "tag" or "grafitti" name. and im pround of it cuz i know that no one else will ever have it designd that way. It actuall look like someone just took a sharpie and bomb a piece on me. bu anyway, its not what you know to get a tattoo, its more of who you know. I guess if you dont have you parent there, it all come down to who you know to get the hook ups, thas pretty much what life is based on, the connection you have that how you can get by.so just get to know the right ppl kid...
what kind of tattoos u got tazz? probably some dumb shit
I have a tattoo of a dumb little wanna be gangsta gettin ass raped by a dead zombie Toopak and Toopak is laughin his hyped up ASS off at what a dumb ass you are!!
Now go home and play with yer toy guns sonny and kiss yer mom...I forgot to last night...
MORON!!!
Hey KID, and I stress kid, you are on a professional tat2 site full of grown men, who the fuck do you think you are? Are you that young and stupid that you don't realize what type of people your talking to? First off, you are talking to people that tattoo and get tattooed for a living and are willing to take the most extreme amounts of pain to get that far! What does that tell ya? DON'T RUN YOUR MOUTH TO PEOPLE ON A SITE THAT YOU PROBABLY STUMBLED UPON BY ACCIDENT!!!!! Second of all, Who the fuck do ya think you are to pop off at the mouth to Taz of all people? This man has been slingin' ink for over thirtyu years and payed his dues to the tattoo gods so where do ya get off questioning what kind of ink he has or anything else for that matter? He is trying to keep you fucksucks from making a BIG MISTAKE! wHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT?hE HAS BEEN RESPECTABLE OVER THE WHOLE MATTER SO MAYBE YOU SHOULD DO THE SAME, EH? You are talking like a true fool and a bigger punk, why don't you open your young mind and accept the fact that maybe, just maybe, us " old muthafuckas" might know a thing or two about life or decisions that might change yours forever! Everyone is right about the whole matter. ten years or so will change the way you think little man, trust me and the rest of the PRO'S on this page and you will eventually see.
im 17 and i agree with all the "old mutha fuckas" i believe is how he put it. just wait. i got my first tat at 15 its not the finest handy work, and it smack dab on my forearm. its not worth fucking your skin up with a shitty image youll regrete on down the road. and dontforget alot of things kids overlook when goin to get a tattoo is u can get shit from a unclean needle ever heard of things like hepititis? aids? HIV? chances are a guy lookin to make a quick buck off a kid doesnt care about his clients well being. and being a little smart ass on some online forum just makes u look like an absolute jackass, try shutting up and listening because from what ive read everyone is doin you a huge favor in trying to prevent your self from making a mistake that will last a lifetime. and mr tupac.... wow.... man atleast ull get to see something noone else will, what tupac looks like when hes 75. but , knowing first hand how thick headed teens are: if ur determined not to wait, atleast be safe, check the guy out first look at some of his other projects, and for the love of god make sure things r clean and legit at the least. because the worst that can happen is you get a shitty tattoo and to top it off u die 10 years down the road from HIV or sumthing.
HXC..thanks for that post....I appreciate your opinion on this thread...there is always gonna be idiots out there....hell at 14 I didn't listen to ANYBODY either and I know exactly where these kids are comin from...I only wish I could go back in time cause believe me I would listen to what the "old muthafckas" were sayin....But , alas, ya can't go back...which is what we keep tellin you kids day after day...We aren't sayin you are stupid we aren't insulting you in any way ( unless you insult US first then we can play that game much better than you!) we would just like for you to have the information we wish we had listened to when we were your age...Yeah we WERE young once and we know what it feels like.
Thanks again for your post HXC hope to hear from you again!
Peace!...TAz...the"old muthafucka"!!!

And for you young punk "fuckthat" that is made of cigarette ashes and urine, but I'm willing to bet money that you would let someone tattoo ya with it anyway. And Taz's mom made a mistake? JJJJJEEEEEEZZZZZZZ!!!!!! Lot's of love to ya Taz brother.

Pauly..I appreciate the back up man and from all you other fine people....But lets just ignore this little guy...he quite obviously has some very deep issues and instead of shutting him out I'd really like to see if here is any way I could help him...are ya listenin little guy?
Now come on, ya don't even know me or anybody else on here. I can see that you have a lot of anger inside you but no one here on this sight did anything to you. And as a man I must apologize for that stupid crack about your mother ...that was uncalled for and I am enough of an adult that I can say how sorry I am that I said such a childish thing to a kid who plainly has the inner problems that you display.
Now how about we just talk instead of you callin stupid names and me gettin pissed...lets talk like adults...we don't have to agree but we can be civilized and have a conversation...lets try it
You sound a lot like I did many years ago...I was really angry too...I hated anyone who tried to tell me anything...This whole thing really isn't about tattoos at all...it is about the rage you have inside you because you have been hurt so badly just like I was ...and you may not even want to admit it but thats ok too...it took me a long time and pain to be able to talk about it I just want you to know that I am here if I can help you in any way man...all ya gotta do is reach out and e-mail me...I won't lie to you and I won't hurt you I just want to help you dude!!

No problem man I got a wonderful mom too...But hey,,e-mail me and lets talk like normal folk....I think you and I really have a lot more in common than you may think...and it does not matter if we agree or not, people disagree all the time without calling names and insulting each other...which you must also be a man and admit that you did first!...But we are past that old bullshit...lets just talk like the brothers we can be man!!...TAz
hey taz are you fukin talkin to m homie couse i don't play like that and me my mom probly gets more dick then your daddy does so whats up now???

Hey all. I'm new to the forums here, but have spent much time on the site looking at ink. Just wanted to toss in my 2 cents as a tattooed parent and former 14 year old. In spite of the posturing, name calling, shit talkin' and NaNaNaNa-Boo-Boos being tossed around, the best advise that I can offer to our young people is this: All of our actions have consequences. Sometimes the consequences are positive, other times, not so much. Consequences are often not fully realized until years after they have been set in motion.
Whether or not 14 year olds, or anyone else for that matter, grows to regret their decision, may yet be seen. While I strongly advise anyone considering tats to wait until they are absolutely sure they are getting ink for the right reasons, that isn't always going to happen. I was fortunate enough to have the sense to wait until I was 34 to get my first tattoo. (For what it is worth, I have a Buddhist eternal knot on my back. I have been searching this site and others for an artist to do a full sleeve on my virgin arm and I thankfully do not need the work to cover the "Sid Lives" or "FTW" that would have likely been scratched into my arms at age 14 had I followed a youthful whim.) Best case, our Tupac tattooed friend will love his ink until he is dirt. Perhaps it will be a daily reminder to him in the recording or production studio that he was inspired at a young age by Tupac. Based on my own experiences, however, the ending may not be so happy. Second best case, our Tupac tattooed friend will learn the importance of making good choices with a constant Tupac companion as a reminder.
I truly hope that the young people who decide to get ink don't regret their decisions in the future. This is not to say that I encourage them to get ink. Often, the best and most lasting lessons come from our fuck ups. But by discounting their heroes, and thus, them, however, we are only fueling a "Fuck You" response and pushing them closer to some back alley scratching hack (and far worse outside of the tattoo world) that will gladly take their money.
To the youth, time and experience will hopefully grant you ability to discern between the voices and choices that we all encounter. Putting ink on your body does not make you anything other than a person with ink on your body. Putting ink on your body does not make you hardcore, sexy, pimp, punk, hip, cool, thug, trendy, blah blah... To my mind, tattooing for these reasons makes you a lemming. Have a nice trip. Splat.
At age 14, there are few things to which you should have a lifelong commitment. A tattoo or lifestyle is not among them. Learn from the mistakes of others. Do not make them stepping stones for your own path...
Be well.

Best case, our Tupac tattooed friend will love his ink until he is dirt.
Be well.
I have been searching this site and others for an artist to do a full sleeve on my virgin arm and I thankfully do not need the work to cover the "Sid Lives" or "FTW" that would have likely been scratched into my arms at age 14 had I followed a youthful whim.) To Grndkpr....Thank you sooo much for your intelligent and insightful post.....Ya know I was one of the assholes that crapped on this kid.....His comments just pissed me off and then I started thinkin "hey that could have been me at fourteen!" After thinkin about it for a while I realized that I owed this kid an apology and apologize I did (see above)...This kid and I are now communicating via e-mail and having some fruitful RESPECTFUL conversations...He opened up and shared some things with me and I think he and I are going to become friends.I like that! A LOT!!
SO anyway I hope we see more of you on this forum...No...we NEED people like you on this forum!!
Thanks again.....TAz of Painted Angel Studios-Missouri
CRAP! All apologies for the triple post. A technical glitch, not a demand to be heard.
By the way...that kid STILL calls me "old muthafucka" and I'm kinda gettin used to it!!!...LMAO!!..TAz
Damn. Nobody calls me "old muthafucka" yet. I'm gonna have to work harder.
I rekon that wen people get tattoos too young they often get those horrible home made tattoos. You all know wot i mean!!! those fukin biro and needle monstrosities that they think are the bomb and jus look shit!!! They give all you tattoo artists out there headaches having to cover them up all the time im sure!!!!
not headaches just more money.......$$$$$$$ cha chinggggg
Yea Leg...we DO make a lot of money from the repair/covering of bad tattoos however I would much rather admire GOOD work than to make money off of covers don't you agree my friend?
BTW hows it goin there buddy?...TAz
And how is my little TAzette #5?????
your tazette num 5 is spreadin useless info and input all ova the place so good yeah!
You are on your way # 5!!!!
Hi, I'm Katie and I'm 17. I agree with everyone else. I will be turning 18 in July and right now, I'm looking for the perfect tattoo for me. When I was around 15, I wanted to get my first tattoo. My mom was nice about it but she told me no. I put up a fit for awhile but eventually, I saw why she wanted me to wait. Even though I don't have my first tattoo yet, I am really happy that I did wait. First of all, I probably would have made a stupid decision to get something that wasn't going to apply to me all of my life. Secondly, I more than likely would have gotten it somewhere that I would have been annoyed with after awhile (like my lower stomach or back). Today, I'm looking for more modest tattoos that will always work for me at any age. Honestly, I think you kids are idiots to be tattooing yourselves this young. You probably go to some crack house in the city to get your tattoos but you're so used to shitty living conditions that the little "tattoo shop" that is set up is nice compared to what you're used to. I know how it is and one of my friends went to one and she had a lot of pain with her tattoo and eventually had it changed into something better because the guy did a shitty job. I'm just saying, that for me personally, I'm glad that I waited. I'm so excited to turn 18 and go and get a tattoo. It's like a step into adulthood, something that you can always remember.
Katie thank you for contributing your thoughtful and intelligent comments to this post. I know you will be happy with the piece you eventually get because of the thought and consideration you have put into your decision. Kudos to you!
I can't even believe this thread is real.I honestly think some guys must be trying to get some kicks by being pretending to be assholes and purposely doing this to get a rise out of the industry's finest. Are kids actually this ignorant these days? Its embarrasing to say the least... smarten up.
Yes, this thread is real and I bet that all the kids are for real. Trolls tend to be smarter and put out better bait. In fact, 90% of the time someone thinks that a poster cant be that stupid and must be a troll the poster is real. We really need to educate the masses, its a tough job, but we will keep trying!
well taz do ya get -n- tattoos if so why do you hate 14 year olds ???
and if im correct your just telling us that were gonna fuck up our bodies and im not gonna go through that shit i screwed up my life already i don't need to do no mo damage andy ways why so harsh with that e-mail talkin "im gona have my what cantact my school or sum shyt like that anyways if you wanna talk to me e-mail me ok...
i whould tattoo a 14 year old if they wanted it for a good reason like they lost a loved one or somthing but besides that wait!!!!
Nope...I am gonna leave this to someone else!...TAz
Ok I'll bite...Tattfreak...where do you work and where can we see your tattoos?....TAz
I got my first set of tattoos when i was 17, by then i was mature enough to chose EXACTLY what i wanted. No my mom didn't come with me, she would have NEVER let me get a tattoo. But getting a tattoo when you are 14 is just retarded, when you are 14 you are JUST entering high school. Still deciding who you want to date for that year, or who you are going to lose your virginity too, you just finished or maybe are just starting puberty, and you have no realization of what life will throw at you, or how to take care of yourself.. you are not in the right mind to be choosing something that will be on you for the rest of your life, by the time you turn 18, you might look back at what you have already chosen to get done ( at 14 ) and think "THANK GOD!!! i didn't get that!"
hell, I'll even go so far as to say an 18 year old doesn't really know what they want either, but........if your old enough to sign up for the Army, I suppose you can pick a freakin lame tat and hate it later. My only advice is put it where you "could" cover it if you needed to.
Just some mama advice.
i gota tat and im 14 check it out if u want
www.myspace.com/prettynicky47
OK...
SAW IT...
IT SUCKS!!!!!
Yea, i second Taz's comment
little dude, your mySpace only confirms to me your still so very wet behind the ears and immature.
I don;t care how much pussy you get to eat.
oye..I MUST be getting old.
I just recently (this past weds) got my first tattoo at the age of 25. I'm glad I waited (which i mostly did because i was scared shitless that it would hurt like hell...wasn't too bad). I've put a lot of thought into my tattoo and am happy with how it turned out. Back in high school i wanted one, but was again scared, and looking back on all the ideas i had...they were stupid. My ideas reflected things i was into at the time, emphasis on the 'at the time'. You grow and change and most times the things you like grow and change. As the 10 year anniversary of my granddad's death came and went this year it really dawned on me what the perfect tattoo would be. He was very close to me and I lost him when i was very young, and now i will always carry something with me that will remind me of him. But 10 years ago...i wasn't mature enough to think of something that meaningful. I agree with everyone else...WAIT. As a teenager everything is so fickle and so peer influenced. Get a tattoo because it means something to you. That way you won't regret it down the road and you'll be smart enough to go about it the right way. I'm glad I waited. At 25 i'm in a better place in my life and maturity to get one. I gave it careful thought and am glad I did it. Its simple, tasteful, pretty, and meaningful. Listen to the "old folks". They're wise beyond their years. They've been there and done that and are only trying to prevent you from doing something you may regret 10, 15, 20+ years from now!
I wanna eat some.......well dammit I'm hungry!!!
TAz...
BACK to your basement! Now!
This is a clear case of you get the tattoo you deserve. Myspace friend, if you cant tell the difference between the tattoo you received and the tattoos that are on this site, then you should NOT be getting tattoos. Luckily your work will be pretty easy to cover if you do learn to appreciate good tattoo art.
Im sixteen little man and im to young to have one but i got it done anyway but only because I have my tats planned out and its very symbolic to me.....wait till your 18(god i feel like a hipocrit)
hey scott what if it's a rembrence of a loved one or somthing like that???? plz help taz here don't agree with me that i should get a tat but it's for the right reason... plz help
sorry guys i gotta step in once more here....It seems to me that we are ALL forgetting that tattoos mark a certain point in your life. If youre 14 and are into the yankees and want to get the ny symbol on your arm who the fuck is ANYONE to say that you cant get it???? EVERONE i have tattooed who had more than 5 tattoos I usually ask them about the tatts and their significance and they all basically say the same thing. Oh this one I got when i was so and so years old and I was really into it so i got inked, then this one i got a year later because i really liked so and so. These are images that mark a certain part in your life people and no matter how good the tattoo looks people are gonna remember the reason why they got it. if it looks bad after 4 years guess who they go to to get it fixed??Thats right ..a pro..so what the heck are you guys complaining about? Let the little bastards make a decision..if its a bad one they will soon find out and then they hopefully will have learned from their mistake. THIS IS WHAT MAKES A MAN A MAN not the fact that you just turned 18. You live and learn. and lets not forget that americans have DEFINATELY softened up the tattoo world. If you wont tattoo 14 yr olds ....cool...happy for you ....but dont you DARE knock an artist that will......For all you know that 14 yr old might love the shit out of that tattoo for the rest of his life....not likely but possible...and if not hey they LEARNED....
Legacy ...after reading this post and reading your little argument with Keep about quality tattooing I gotta admit That I am very disappointed in you pal!
You are making excuses for every bad behaving, price gouging, minor tattoing asshole out there...
SHAME ON YOU DUDE!
I'm just glad you have shown your true colors...the flag of the scratcher...TAz
So I stay out of this stuff as much as possible, but after reading legacy's last post, I just have to say... Taz, You are the coolest because you actually care about people and try to help them, but at a certain point ya gotta let it go and let natural selection take over. I'm starting to think this is natures way of keeping the gene pool strong. I mean if you are 14 years old, and you have adults telling you not to do this for over 100 posts, chances are you are too fucking stupid to make it to 24 or 5.
Or if you do, you deserve what you get outta life. Let them grow up with every fucking dumb reminder of every fucking dumb thing they were too smart to listen to anyone about. Just keep saying it over and over buddy, "Remember, we do cover ups!!!""
To all you teenagers out there who are too smart to listen to Taz, or the other adults on this site, I say go get those tats bruthas and sistas!!! And remember! Don't quit while you have a square inch of real estate left! Also, don't forget the face... lots of prime there if you run out of room on arms and legs.
To legacy, I'd say, wow man. That's sad. Real sad. But hey, again, at least you get the money on cover ups. What it is is I guess.
Whats the reason
Your gonna nead a damn good one
On second thought, as a good person, ya gotta try to do the right thing, don't we.
Aw fuck. I guess the battle just goes on....
flag of a scratcher? Taz buddy one minute you have officially given up the word scratcher the next your turning around calling all the new kids scratchers..........
i'm changing?.....one minute you write a whole post on how rebellious and dangerous it used to be back in the day and how we shall not bow down to the hypocracy and you say Fuck You to any one who asks that of us......... and then youre here calling me a scratcher....and are now gonna turn your back on me? Dude did you even read the little tif between me and Keep that dude pulled that one out of his ass and he knows it.
True colors? What are they taz? tell me. I cant agree with EVERYTHING you say and you cant agree with everything I say....thats the point....thats how it should be...but to turn your back on a dude just because you dont agree in certain areas....thats cold bro that aint a friendship..........If thats the case then i guess I see YOUR true colors..
I aint no different now then i was a month ago when you met me......
legacy
Dont worry im all out against 14 yr olds getting tats im 16 its way to young and i shouldve waited because its a prime spot and i should of had a really great artist do it
and you guys arent telling me what I said that was so bad..........you act like you guys werent fuckin 14 once......holy shit.......
this is just silly now. We WERE young and we DID get shitty tattoos and we did LEARN from our mistakes (cause now they are getting lasered and covered and we are dealing with tattoos that were stupid and not thought out enough (but they sure seemed it) and now we are trying to teach other kind NOT to make the same mistakes because makeing mistakes in tattooing does NOT make you a "man" it, it simply makes you stupid.
A mistake is a mistake, and it's good to learn, but with something as permanent as a tattoo????? They are stuck with that FOREVER. a 14 year old NEVER will understand the concept of how much it will effect them, cost wise, life wise, etc.
My sister is 14, and she's a prime example. Right now, our cable and phones are cut off because of money issues, the cats have fleas, and, since i am working a job, i am paying 50 bucks a cat plus 30 bucks for flea bombs to get rid of the problem. Yet, she keeps letting the cats outside, and thinks she can still keep letting the cats outside. I said, Dylan, why the hell are you letting them outside? you aren't going to be able to after they get a bath. And her excuse? Yes they will because dad will just pay for them to get washed again. She does and thinks stuff without THINKING. She doesn't have the ability yet to make the connection of if we can't pay for TV and Phones then we can't pay 50 bucks to have the cats washed cuz she wants to let them out...and if she can, she doesn't want to.
so...after that, HOW can you think ANY 14 year old is wise enough to decide something as PERMANENT as a tattoo?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I am Tired.
Realy tired...
And no Legacy, you are not the kid I assumed I met a month ago...I assumed , and wrongly so, that you were a responsible professional even tho you worked from home...I apologize to all those to whom I gave a rec for this dude.....he just slipped by me
As far as being a rebel you can be a rebel without being an irresponsible dolt.....seems to me you are choosin the latter...
oh well....TAz
dude this is retarted........i slipped by you...give me a break man....tell me taz what the hell is so irresponsible??????/hmmm have you ever even sat down and observed me giving a tattoo....no...so to call me irresponsible is an assumption based on what? I personally do not tattoo 14 year olds and we all know that you dont either and thats cool. But to think that you can say that someone who does is less of a master than you because they do tattoo 14 yr olds seems a bit off to me. Not every state has the same laws and why? because everyone thinks they have the right to determine who should be tattooing and who shouldnt. There was another arguement a few weeks ago about if kids should be allowed in a shop and you were like oh you shouldnt ban all kids from coming in your shop because one kid fucked something up...Now you are saying that you would ban all 14 yr olds from getting tattoos ..why ...because of a few kids getting tattoos that in your eyes were meaningless..thats a clear contradiction dude!!!!! I know how responsible I am and I'll be damned if I let anyone tell me otherwise especially if they never seen me in action.....I kept it cool ..I respected your experience and still do and admire it but to put me way down because of my opinion is foul. And to label me as a fake artist is even more foul...and to call me a scratcher which we all know on this forum is looked at as the bottom of the friggin barrel thats even MORE foul. Thats insult after insult and WHY? you still arent telling me why? all you keep doing as well as a few others on here is saying oh klegacy thats wrong this is wrong and you're this and you're that ....with absolutely no intellectual or logical reason behind it.....Shame
Lefacy...Did not....
say you were less a master than anyone.
say you were a scratcher...said you were wearing the flag of a scratcher...I would appreciate if you did not misinterpret me.
say anything about you being a fake artist...where did you get that?
Anyway I am really busy but I am gonna take the time to explain exactly why I feel let down by you....The pricing argument with Keeps was one point...the pros in this art have been fighting the price gougers for eternity and we always will...I have yet to see a price gouger who does great work, or even really good work...they know they have to go cheaper for 2 reasons....to corner the "Gomer crowd" ( and you know exactly who I mean) and to steal business from the shops who spent their lives building their business.I
About the minors...Do you think all the pros got together one night and said,"lets not tattoo minors"...Is that it? A conspiracy huh?..Guess there is no reson not to although 99.9% of the pros will not tattoo minors...people with lifetimes more experience than YOU!!!!
Using cheap stuff and charging less....I am all for finding deals and passing them on to my customers...but not at the risk of lowering standards....maybe you should try buying some of the needles Keep was talkin about ( you do make needles don't you?) and try em out...you will think you are in a different world at how improved your work is.....Try it before ya spout off to a guy with a lifetime of experience. We get so sick of the fuckin grunts out there ( didn't say scratcher did I?) who use $50 "guns" and plastic tubes and cheap premade needles that just fuck skin up and then do cheap ass tattoos that we eventually cover up ,...IT SUCKS! and you suck if you are one of them.THe pros use top of the line equipment ALWAYS!!!
SO thats it pal...take it or leave it...I shoot straight!!...TAz
I cant believe all you peaple sterotype all 14 year olds.
I was 14 when i had my 1st Tattoo, im now 21 and i dont regret any of them. Each individual is different. My tattoos mean something to me and will always be apart of my life. Each idividuals has a right to there own opinion.
My parents consented to my tattoos. Me and my dying twin brother had two hearts one soul in chinese on our backs.
What the f.. Alright, MOST of us who were tattooed before we were old enough to consider what the consequenses would be regret the tattoos we had done when we were younger. AND MOST of the artists on this particular thread have not called all 14 year olds irresponsible and stupid. The bottom line its this: Not everyone is lucky enough to get a tattoo when they're 14 or 15 and still love it when they're 25. It just does not happen that often. More times they're coming into our shops with sad stories and hopes of getting those tattoos fixed or covered, all because they were too impatient to wait. I cant speak for every artist on this site but the average kid will get a better tattoo if he waits his turn vs. the kid who just has to have one now and will go to damn near anyone to get it done.
Some parents will consent and good for 'em. But if that kid just picks some flash off a wall and doesnt think it through, chances are, he aint gonna like it later.
If you're not one of these kids then you're one of the lucky ones and hats off to you. But a lot of people who have responded to this thing are trying to get kids from making the same mistakes. This shit is a little too permamnet to be taking lightly. Theres plenty of time in your life to get tattooed.Wait your turns like evryone else and you'll stand less of a chance of regretting it like those with the horror stories.
please....if a kid is 14 and gets a tattoo today by the time that same kid is lets say 25 you'll be able to get tattoos removed completely with one zap............................
I suppose, but it'd be cheaper and less painful to avoid it from the get-go. Sure, it'd be a great lesson in responsibility if you let 'em screw their skins all up but they could skip the whole ugly process if they wait a couple like everyone else.
------"please....if a kid is 14 and gets a tattoo today by the time that same kid is lets say 25 you'll be able to get tattoos removed completely with one zap............................ "
So what you're saying is fuck it, as long as I get paid who cares. Dude, you're seriously a black mark to the culture. I've heard of people that have had their hands broken for stuff like that.
------"If youre 14 and are into the yankees and want to get the ny symbol on your arm who the fuck is ANYONE to say that you cant get it????"
The parents of the 14 year old and any responsible tattoo artist are the DECENT PEOPLE OF GOOD STANDING to say that they can't get it. If a 14 year old is mature enough to get a tattoo, then they're mature enough and understand to wait until they're of legal age to get one. Anyone that can't wait isn't mature enough, thus they're also not mature enough to make an adult decision such as getting a tattoo.
People that tattoo 14 year olds are only doing it for personal gain, financial gain, and experience to work their way up the ladder, in a cheap and irresponsible manner, mind you. Why don't you try tattooing adults that can make conscious decisions on tattoos? Is it because adults that can make conscious decisions know not to get a tattoo from someone like you? Why do you have to MARK CHILDREN UP TO FURTHER YOUR AGENDA???
since you quoted me twice I'll take it that your questioning is directed towards me....I never once tattooed a minor and actually I tattoo responsible adults all the time....I am a black mark for the culture???? Pretty quick assumption for someone who never seen my work or my work tactics. You hardly know me well enough to judge me in that way so needless to say your opinion of me is irrelevant at this point.....
Legacy,
the things you post make an image of you. You could be the best damn artist in the world, but if you have screwed up morals and speak aobut believing in things against the law, the industry, and common sense...you are creating a negative image of yourself.
the point is, most places it's illegal for a 14 year old to get tattooed. just like you shouldn't smoke before you are 18 and shouldn't drink before you are 21 because it's the law, you shouldn't get a tattoo before you are 18 because it is a law. And, most people that do things illegally before they are allowed to legaly regret the decision they made whent hey were younger, yet it made an impact on them for the rest of your life....smokers and alchohalics(sp) are prime examples of this.
ducky, I agree with most of what you say, but I definitely dont believe in following the law merely because its the law. Laws change, and are different in different communities. I do believe in following a healthy moral code of ethics which often, but not always, matches the law of the land. To me, its common sense to tell people to wait until they are in their early 20s before making decisions that effect them for the rest of their life.
Krystof hit the nail on the head, if you are mature enough at 14 to know what you want for a tattoo, your mature enough to seek out the best artist you can and wait until they will tattoo you.
Almost all exceptional professional tattoo artists wont tattoo you until you are at least 18 because they are so busy with adult clients they never have to worry about the headaches of tattooing someone too young. There are always people out there willing to tattoo people underage with parents consent, but rarely are they the best of the best.
And why not get tattooed by the best you can? After all the tattoo will be there until you are on your deathbed at 80, waiting a few years is nothing compared to the payoff of getting someone real sharp to do the tattoo. Also, the fact is that quality tattoos are an investment, so saving your money for 4 years is a great way to make sure you have the $$$ its gonna take to get a good tattoo. In the end, people get the tattoo they deserve, but if there are underage kids out there reading this, you cant say you wernt warned.
Here are a few links to some of the recent tattoos from our studio I know were done on first timers who waited... Johnny tattooed this Dropkick Murphy's tattoo and this Koi on first timers who traveled to get to the studio. Joshua Carlton tattooed a few first timers when he was here too. Here's a link to a blurry pic of a woman's first flower tattoo. There are also plenty of coverups done over tattoos that were done by folks tattooing underage kids (and coverups on adult mistakes too).
That is some nice stuff! That is one hell of a beautiful Koi!
Love the bagpiper too! I'm Scottish and play pipes. Not that it matters but there is one small detail on that tat that needs fixing (from what I can see in the pic) The drones don't just stick up like that, they are actually held in place together by a piece of Beautiful cord attached to all 3. I'ts actually a very important part of the instrument. But, hey, no huge deal. Still goddamned cool!
ha! Detail noted, but the image did come from a band logo, though, so not the artists fault!
Sure, sure. Nobody's fault. Still looks really cool!
you can go to any tatto shop to get a tat you just have to have your parents sign a release form so that if anything happens they cant sur the artist.
The problem with just going to any shop is the quality of the work will be poor most of the time. Both adults and underage kids need to do a lot of homework if they want an artist that will do a good job. Its easy to get a bad tattoo underage, very very very difficult to get a GOOD one.
No Zeppo...You CANNOT just go into any shop and have your parents sign...That is patently ridiculous...In the very few states and locales where it is legal no professional will tattoo a minor.Key word there is PROFESSIONAL!!!...TAz
Oh, right, heh. Most states dont allow it period.
Alright, I don't understand this.... At 14 I was barely able to get out of bed on my own in the morning, discovered masturbation, and was more concerned about the two years I had left to wait to get a friggin' car. Kids, if you are looking for some sort of self expression at your age I would highly recommend....uh.... Emo. At least you can wash that shit off and get a hair cut when you het tired of it.
Jwerk...are yo a tattoo artist?...where can we see some work man?
All I can say it "Don't Bite", I am only a slow to develop apprentice.
No worries man...good to meet ya!!and thanks for posting bro!...Do ya work in a shop?...TAz
Yeah, you may have heard of my little hamlet... it's call "The Spackled Devil Studios". The owner is an old retired burlesque dancer named Roadrunner....Christ I hate you for getting my into this...It's 7 am and I am running this on dial up! I might be late so get the toothbrushes ready!
Now J werk ya know what happens when you are late...do the words drywall screws and handcuffs ring any bells?
Yes I remember the drywall screws and handcuffs...but if I am late atleast consider NOT swallowing the cuff key this time....I don't want to know where "daddy hid the key today".
And all this time I thought you liked our little GAMES hmmmmmmm?
Was daddys wittle huggy puff fibbin to Daddy? Does Daddy need to ground you from the sharp liile needles for a week hmmmmm?
Yeah, so I'm 15 and I agree with the "old guys". All of these stupid ass kids my age wanting to get tattoos and they're usually somehthing stupid. I want a tattoo, yeah, but I'm going to wait until I'm about 19 and give it some serious thought. These guys know what they're talking about, why bother arguing with them?
At least I now know that I haven't been wasting my time...somebody is actually listening!!!
Thanks for your post headache!!...TAz ( Old Guy In Residence)
I have to agree with the professionals in this case, and you little kids are really lucky to have this board to post your questions on for when we were little we had no public forum to get this advice. So we messed up got tattoo'd and now we sit and regret those tattoo's that linger on our bodies, for If I had this type of information passed on to me let me just say my body would be looking a hell of alot better then what it does.. Tupac was a great man but not if your gonna get him to represent what he was, get him for what he accomplished in the music business, breaking the door open for many other artist... not cuz your both thugz, stupid is as stupid does.
I live in seattle and there is a place called the golden ring where 14 yr old and up can get a tattoo. I dont think its childish because once you get it, it wont go away so if its a mistake then you just learn from it....
You know, I used to really be passionate about this, but the more I read these posts, the more I realize that some people are just not gonna listen. Those of you who are listening, to these vets, good job. You will reap the benefits of your patience with incredible artwork. Those of you who just can't wait to make a mistake, get it over with. As the previous post said, stupid is as stupid does. I mean, after a while, what can you say Taz? I guess ya gotta keep trying, but man. I just feel bad for all the teens out there who are going to screw up in the face of good advice. Oh well. Worry about my own kids I guess..
Thats all you can do Al...the thing is I think a lot of kids DO listen...we just don't hear from them...ya know most of our readers don't post!...So how the hell are ya pal?
ok..so im 14 and i would like to add my point opf view to all of this...
i am going to be turning 15 in about two weeks and am going to get my tat then. i understand that some of u older folks think "they r just kids and they dont know anything" but the thing is..not all of us act our age..some of us act older. i've been through so much shit in my life that i've became a stronger, more mature person. because of the way my dad treated me..i basicly raised myself up to this point (i now live with my mom)....just because i am "14" doesnt mean i cant make a good decision..yes, many 14 year olds cant...but i think i can...since none of u know me..u probably think "o..this girl's just 14 and THINKS she can make a wise choice" now im not trying to make excuses...i just wanted to put in my 2 cents. as u guys have already kinda figured out..we're gunna get one no matter wut..if sumone professional will do it...hopefully all of the kids who want one will go somewhere professional...i am...my stepdad is really good friends with a tattoo artist that does tatoos on minors with a parent's consent. but anyways thank you taz..for ur effort to try..and i am in no way downing u..ur probably a cool guy...and thank you legacy....for standing up for us and saying that tatoos will tell a story no matter what...anyways...thanks for the time...if u actually read this

Slim Shady Fan...
Thanks for your post...you sound like a very intelligent and mature young lady and yes...we DO read these posts and we DO listen to what you say.....our point IN GENERAL is that most people your age ARE NOT as mature as you are...just read their nearly unintelligible posts above...and that IN GENERAL most artists who are willing to tattoo minors just are not that good. I hope that you are one of the lucky ones who end up with a great tattoo!
Do us a favor though...we'd really love to see your tattoo so when ya get it done would ya e-mail us a pic or two?...Just click on my name above this post for the e-mail addy
Great tattoong kid...we will be waiting to hear from you..TAz.
i know...most of the kids that posted comments..were being absoulutly ridiculous...as i said before..i'm not trying to make excuses for them..i am excited to get my tat..and i'm not completely oblivious on tatooing..i've been researching...i know the risks involved..i'm not worried about the environment..cuz my step dad got all of his tats from this guy..but i do know how important it is to be comfortable with the environment and to make sure its clean....but anyways no problem...i'll be sure to send u some pics of it...and thanks for the good luck!!!!
I raised myself and thought I was making great tattoo decisions when I was a teenager too. After all, if I could live through X, then of course I should be able to get a tattoo. Mark the time I spent raising myself to remember for all time, all that. You should see the blisters of my laser treatment. Like taz said send in the pics, we've yet to see any good ones...
And Taz is dead on, while there are always kids getting on this thread saying they will get one, there are TONS of teenagers who are slowly getting the point. To get good tattoo you need to learn, and the ones that take the time to do it right will truly be unique.
Its funny that this topic comes up.. In Alabama there is no set age limit.. dont get me wrong i feel like most other professional tattoo artists do. 18 and up. but here we have all ages coming to get a tattoo. 14 and up. My ethics say 18 my children will wait till there 18 but when parents bring there kids in to the same shop that they are getting all there work done, what can you do.
You can always tell them that it's not a good idea for a 14 year old to make a lifelong adult decision. But hey, thats just me talking.
Yeah...ya tell them NO!!!!!
Yeah...ya tell them NO!!!!!
Dude, if you want a tattoo and your 14 thats a little stupid. Unless you know what you want on your body for the rest of your life then don't do it. I don't even wanna get a tattoo till I'm 18, and I'm 14 too.
Trust. Just wait 4 years and see what you like.
Things change and you might not even want one in 4 years.
Panther princess...Thanks for your post...you make a lot of sense...maybe someone will listen...TAz
I think panther princess is the smartest 14 year old to post on this thread so far.
While I commend the spirit of rebellion against the status quo to some degree, there is a line that should be drawn in tattooing. This is for safety reasons more than anything, because I have seen some "old farts" get crappy designs, even in a pro shop.
Unfortunately the other side of the debate is that the age limit forces the practice underground, causing a world of headaches in the form of disease transmission, etc. Because if we are REALLY honest with ourselves, these kids are going to get tattooed anyway. Should they have the right to do it in a safe environment? After all, we live in a world where a minor can get a boob job with parental consent. I don't really agree with minors getting tattooed or a boob job, I'm just playing devil's advocate here. Personally, I like most women's ta-tas without implants, but I guess I'm weird like that.
Most states have drawn the line with an age limit. Most professional artists agree with and abide by limits for their own reasons. I have further respect for artists such as Taz. Those that work in states where tattooing minors is legal with parent consent, yet still refuse to mark underage hides.
If I wanted to make a shit ton of money, I would open in Missouri and tattoo minors all day. It becomes a matter of ethics. Frankly I don't want that kind of drama when the kid decides they don't like the tattoo any longer and start tell everyone my shop fucked it up, or worse. That is in addition to it being morally and ethically wrong.
Long story short... Buyer Beware... You get what you pay for... And all that...

I know a great place 14 yr olds can get tattooed...........7 years in the future.
(or rather should get tattooed)
Well, teens get tattoos whether or not they're old enough.. And, they're probably right, it's probably done by someone in a nasty basement.. And the ones that aren't done in a basement, are done by people who are professional artists, but not in a shop. They are done by professionals outside of the shops they work in. I understand why some kids would still go to people who do tattoos, but not in the cleanest facilities. The pressure now adays to fit in is rediculous, I would know, I'm 17 years old. Wait another 4 years, it will be worth it.. Nobody wants to die from a tattoo gone awry..
And ol Spooky ain't just Spooky...Spooky is SMART!!!
Thanks for the post spooky!!...TAz
Thanx, I'm not trying to sound intelligent. I'm trying to prove a point.. And, I'd say that I have proved mine..

Oh YEAH!!!...Now you're telling kids to lie about their age!...That just pisses me right the fuck off!!...You could cost the artist his license did you even think about that you self serving twit?.Of course if he doesn't check your ID he kinda deserves to lose the right to tattoo anyway.
I do appreciate the info though...I think I'll give ol Tony a call and give him a heads up AND a good ass chewin....MORON!!!...TAz
You can get them anywhere as long as you have a parent with you, I was 13 with my 1st tattoo and I went to a tattoo shop with my mom and dad and they did it for me
I looked for a few years and got what I wanted, a 400 dollar tattoo, but I'm done growing so i don't have nuthun to worry about. I don't think it's immature at all it's ppls own body let them do what they want with it.
I'm 14 and i got a tattoo when i was 13 in kentucky...I'm not sure where you are located but I live in Tennessee near tha border and it is not illegal for a minor to get inked up with parent concent...if you have any questions let me know i can send you a pic of my tattoo...and i will soon be getting another one...I personally dont agree with tha ppl that say wait till ur 18 but if ya have any questions hit me up [email removed]

Hi all im new to this forum and i am fifteen years old. I just wanted to comment and say to any fourteen year old whos thinking of getting a tattoo it may seem sick at the time but chances are your really gonna regret it and those who are should learn from the other people's mistakes on here. It amazes me how unbelievably igoorrant some of you are. seriously u should just take note of some of these posts theres like how many people telling you that its a stupid idea and how many of them actually appreciated or like the tattoos they got when they were our age. I have thought about getting tattoos a lot and dont know what i want i almost got one but decided not too after reading some of these posts and i knew i might regret it. I just really want those kids who are not old enough to get tattoos to think about what theey are doing cause i know being one of them that ur not mature enough to make that decision of getting a tattoo your gonna be stuck with this on your body for the rest of your life and i really suggest you learn to spell right before you get a tattoo.
Peace out all
Well done.
You can always tell who'll be happiest with their tattoos because they've taken the time to do the research. Sounds like you got a pretty good head on your shoulders Saiint
Kudos to you
While I philosophically agree that kids should wait.... (In fact I was 22 before I got my first one)...
I will again play devil's advocate fro a moment. Think of it this way. A kid who isn't allowed to get their tattoo (good or bad choice on their part aside) goes underground. They get stabbed up in poor, if not filthy, conditions. Whether they like the tattoo or not is not for an artist to decide.
So, in the future they come into your shop to have it repaired or covered. But wait... In getting that "shade-tree" tattoo, they also contracted a blood borne pathogen. And they don't know it. There they are, in your shop, getting the repair, all the while putting the artist(s) and other patrons at risk. Minimized risk, to be sure. ...but still...
Again, I do not condone tattooing minors. Just putting the debate out there so both sides are given full, intelligent, thought. Maybe something like what Texas has in place would be a happy medium. There, a minor can get tattooed only with a court order, and then only to cover unwanted gang or drug-related symbols.

Ya got a point Joe...too bad its on the top of yer head...HEE HEE!!
Seriously Joe ya know I love ya but that argument just ain't carryin no water!...thats akin to sayin "ok if we don't let em drink alcohol legally they are just gonna get someone to buy it for em...
We both know that if a minor wants a tattoo badly enough they will find some asshole that will do it for a 12 pack or a blow job and give them the added benefit of a lifelong disease to boot...we are never gonna stop that crap....but I will not be a party to it....just ain't gonna happen...sure I could make a lot ...LOT! more money by tattooin kids that shouldn't even be allowed to drive let alone make what could be a life altering decision...but I won't...NO!
I firmly believe that our society is way to liberal in the rights given to our young...Parenting for the most part, has gone out the window...we gotta get back that "just say no( and MEAN it)" attitude.Kids need to be kids and parents need to be parents..TAz
Just wanna clarify some semantics. Liberal parenting = responsible parenting. You would probably be hard pressed to find 2 parents who are more progressive/liberal/hippi than me and my wife and you betcha we say "no way jose" all the time. Liberal parenting is NOT about explaining everything without punishing, its about being smart about how you punish (and more importantly reward) to teach responsibility.
No no...I said nothing about "liberal parenting"... I probably didn't explain it as succinctly as I should...I completely agree on your idea of liberal parenting...what I do not agree with is allowing children Too much leeway in making decisions that could negatively affect their lives...A job that I believe is being neglected....and I firmly believe that a bit more.."no you can't do that BECAUSE..." is in order...Being a "liberal parent" and being too liberal as a parent are two VERY different things.
I agree with you both. I want to strangle the scumbags that come in and get pissed that we won't tattoo their minor. Those ...ahem... "parents" that don't like to hear no, even when I inform them tattooing minors is illegal in Iowa. Period. No exceptions.
Taz your right about those things never being stopped. I'm just trying to open up the discussion for new ideas on the matter. Everyday I try to educate the minors that do walk through these doors why they should wait, and what a good tattoo is all about. I've had one kid wait three years until he turned 18 to get work from us. He learned from the mistakes of his buddies that went across state lines, or got home-made garbage. If they won't want to wait, as a last resort, I at least try and send them somewhere I know is safe.
That being said...
For the sake of argument, I was thinking more along the lines of underage sex, than drinking, as an analogy. It really is about education either way. In the name of safety, I don't think minors should be barred from obtaining contraceptives. Minors shouldn't be getting jiggy, or boob jobs, either. But we all know it happens. Should we, as adults and professionals simply turn a blind eye to it?
So with tattooing, a practice nearly as dangerous as underage unprotected sex, why should minors be disallowed from getting a safely administered tattoo? What reasons are there, other than bad design judgement?
As far as comparing this with a minor drinking, that also implies the danger of them drinking and driving, wrecking, etc. The difference is that getting tattooed doesn't hold the risk of hurting others... unless they get tattooed unsafely.
Anyway, food for thought...

Kandyman, you seem pretty cool, so I'm gonna jump back in here on this one even though the last time I worked with this topic it got extremely heated, and more than just a little stupid. I'm not sure if I'm agreeing or disagreeing with anyone at this point (kind of a long thread, and now I'm lost) but I'd say a couple of things:
1. I agree with Taz. Parents these days have got to just say "flat fucking no". Why? Because we signed on for it. It's our job. There are just a lot of times growing up in our lives where ya just need your folks to say NO and have some boundries set up that you just can't cross. For a lot of reasons, including the fact that yes, believe it or not, most of our folks were our age once and they probably DO get it, and second, without boundries, there's nothing in life to earn. Nothing to look forward to. Nothing to wait for. This society is so about immediate gratification that we don't seem to have any boundries anymore. Couple that with this "I want to raise my child in a culture of mutual trust" stuff and things get wacky sometimes.
It's sort of like when your kid comes home and says "Mom, I've been thinking about it, and I'd really like to smoke some meth". Would your mother have said "Well, okay junior, but only if you do it at home where I can keep an eye on you and make sure you are okay. I realize that you are mature enough to make this decision on your own, even though some kids are not, and I know you'll just go do it somewhere unsafe if I don't let you do it, so okay". Does that sound like your mom anybody? my mom would have slapped the molten shit out of me!!!
Or how about this one... the person who says "Hey, who are you to judge little johnny if he wants to smoke meth at 13? Who are you to judge wether a person is mature enough at 13 to smoke meth or not? I know some 13 year olds that are more mature than some 17 year olds!" which fucking kills me as an arguement cause it's like saying "hey you have no right to stop that kid from putting a pistol to his head! You have no idea what his maturity level is! And besides I know some really smart kids! And some that are way dumber!
Ugh. God.
I think the arguements go way beyond good or bad design. I just sort of feel like this country is becoming way too lax about our youth. Or at least some parents are anyway. Sometimes you just need to know that If you do it, wether you think you are mature enough or not, you're old man will be waiting for you in the driveway when you get home, and he aint gonna be looking happy. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. C'mon parents! Fucking step up man! It's our job! Fine, tell your kids why, but SAY NO when it's wrong.
Allright. So there it is. Game on. I realize the shitstorm this is going to open me up to, but parents, that's what you are. Parents. You are not your kid's fucking friend! They need you!
Allright. I'm ready. Lemme have it........
Obviously we agree Taz, Im just thinking the right wing nut-jobs have spent the last 20-30 years hijacking the language of their enemies. While liberal does mean tolerant, it does not imply lack of boundaries or unwillingness to punish/say no. I am a liberal parent, and I am liberal in my parenting. Needles to say, too much of anything is a bad thing, but I dont think the bulk of American society is too liberal in its parenting, its irresponsible... I like to think I raise my kid in a "culture of paranoid trust". That is, I explain what Im doing and why all the time (or as much as I can remember) while keeping the boundaries set. I hope Im teaching her not to trust *everyone*, there are some bums around town she already knows to stay away from. There are times when no means no and your only a toddler so I dont need to explain anything to you. I dont want to raise a kid that follows authority blindly, but one that needs to listen to their parents if they are gonna get what they want. this happens 99% of the time without a whacking. I am definitely my kids friend, we love to hang out and play, but I am also their parent who says no.
Cactus, I agree 100% but I wouldnt say *some* parents, I would say the VAST majority of parents are too lax. I think the crux of the problem is we dont educate parents about the capabilities of their kids, and how much they are a blank slate when they come out. When parents dont think their infants understand anything, they dont teach them anything. Imagine that, squandering the most important years of our kids lives. The first few years of most American kids lives are squandered because of a public that thinks "What can you teach infants?".
I guess Im wondering what the definition of liberal means in this context... I do believe that parenting has gotten out of control in this country, and that we are growing generations of parents that dont know the capabilities of their own children. In northern Italy where my wife just spent a week checking out the some of the best early childhood schools in the world, they say NO all the time. In fact, the kids know the rules and have been taught responsibility so well that the teacher to kid ratio is almost double what it is here(you would think smart business folks here in America would take note, we are very inefficient!). The teachers make sure the children play by the rules at all times right from the get-go, so the teachers can spend more time teaching them arts and language and what not than chasing bad kids and putting them in time out. Its only a little ironic that a major worldwide inspiration for responsible teaching/parenting comes from the, ahem choke, *commune* of pistoia, a near utopia of liberal/socialist thought. (I say near because their existence is always under attack from conservatives too).
So, I guess I think they hijacked the word liberal and re-defined it to be negative. Unless liberal has a meaning I dont know about which is probably the case.
As far as government control, I do agree with Kandyman Joe a bit here. While I am not a libertarian at heart, I do have some libertarian tendencies. Keep the government out of my life, I can parent my child enough that I dont need the government to protect my family from drinking/sex/tattoos. the flip side to getting the government out of our lives is we need to have an educated responsible population. Basically, if we have a culture of bad parents that dont control their kids, then we do need a government whos job is in part to protect us from ourselves. Of course this is very very expensive for society. Its cheaper to teach kids than adults. Im all for lax drinking/drug/sex/tattoo laws matched with quality education for everyone, especially for the areas in need. culturally Amercia is very unhealthy, its going to take a lot of work to get this machine working right again... At least we wont run out of inspiring work to do!
You know, I have to agree with the professionals here. What has happened in the past 20 years? You can see the changes in everything, look at architecture, look at everyday items, cars, and sadly, these kids.
Everything is cookie cuttered, stenciled, plain. There is no labor of love anymore. Everything is watered down, right down to parenting.
It used to be, that if you walked into the plainest house, little touches and details were still to be found everywhere, right down to doorknobs and filigree work on staircases. Simple things you used every day were little works of art.... now houses are put up in days, the only ornamentation being that you are LUCKY that they diddnt paint right over the woodgrain on the trim in a room.... and it might have a slightly beveled edge. The houses go up, one after another, and they are all the same and sterile. They have no soul.
I remember, when I first moved out on my own, and I was living out in the city, and I'd be hanging out on my third floor balcony, overlooking the nightscape, and being wierded out by the big ol' Holyland USA cross in CT. It would be 2 in the morning, and people would be letting their toddlers and children of assorted ages run wild in the street down the hill from me.... Little kids in diapers just wandering around without shoes or clothes on, at Two in the morning on a weeknight.
When I was 18, and even NOW my parents are trying to tell me what to do.... Kids these days, don't care about anything. They arent worried about consequences, nor do they even seem to understand what they are! It's not like these are isolated cases either, it's everywhere....
My last neighbors, we were living on an extremely busy street, and they would just let their little girl wander around without an adult. (She was four at the time) I remember when she first started going to school, and she'd be wearing little slingback heels and mini skirts with half shirts. (I wasnt allowed out of the house dressed like that when I was 17, let alone 6!)
The neighbors before that, would lock their kids out of the house, neither of them above the age of 12 tops.
I have an ex, who has a son and lets him run wild too. Encourages his "begging" for strangers to buy him food and thinks it's hilarious.
The thing is, it's everywhere, and when it comes right down to it, if it werent for some of these laws, I honestly don't think alot of these parents would even CARE what their kids are doing. For every parent I know who genuinely cares about their kids, and are trying to instill values and morals and such into them, I can point out TWO who act as if their kids are more like a pet and a friend than someone who needs desperately, to be guided and -parented-.
Sorry for the ramble guys.
-Saiyge
Parenting has become very lax. I mean, my older sister has a 10 year old that runs around in booty shorts and showing her midrift...because she BUYS THEM FOR HER! Seeing the 2 year old in a two piece bathing suit or a little skort and top is adorable, but the 10 year old is falling right into the "all sex" atire that the majority of girls are wearing today...and it's just sick. So, those same parents are the ones allowing this to happen....yet, let me say this.
Not too long ago, there was a post on here about belly dancers, and in it there was a bunch of how hot those girls are and how tattoos would make it even better...blah blah blah. That is EXACTLY what the younger kids hear that makes them WANT tattoos and to dress that way. In today's society, sex sells...and if they hear that dressing like a skank and getting tattoos makes them sexy...what do you expect them to do?
Ah! Let me answer that since I was the one who posted that belly dancer post.
That is a really good point! In fact, all of the last posts have been really filled with good points.
In my defense, (it's only slightly defensable) but here goes, I have two daughters of my own, 6 year olds. They would not be allowed to be on a tattoo forum because it's adult material, and dad says no. period. It's for adults. If there are kids on this forum, their parents have let them down, and they have let their folks down. They need to do some talking. My daughters are not allowed to run around in suggestive clothing because that's just flat wrong even though all thier friends are doing it. Wether I thiink Belly Dancers are hot or not is an adult topic that I was sharing with adults, on an adult forum. If there are kids out there reading that, then, as usual, there are parents out there who are jacking off and shirking their responsibilities, and as usual, have no idea what their kids are doing.
I think that anyone who has read any of my posts in the last 6 mos that I've been involved with this forum will tell you that I'm about the biggest supporter of the "female kind" with all your wonderful mysteries that's out there. I see nothing wrong whatsoever with female sensuality, and for that matter, nothing wrong with commenting on how hot belly dancers look, or how much hotter they would look with a few tats. Belly dancing is an art form developed to celebrate female sensuality. That's the whole point of it. Nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade and admitting that I can appreciate the beauty and sensuality of that... as long as it's in an adult setting, and the comments are being made to other adults, and that was the intent. But obviously, I may never have posted it at all if it weren't for a few too many rum and cokes. My mistake. I apologize. But you will notice I was commenting on how hot Belly dancers look in general... which is part of their art. I wasn't talking about hookers, or playboy bunnies, or some girl shaking her ass on the hood of some rapper's car... I was talking about a very feminine, clothed, and respectable art form.
Belly dancing, or anything else that has to do with sensuality IS NOT FOR CHILDREN. Back to your points. If we as parents were doing our jobs, then there would be no reason for kids to "See That" and think anything... becuase they wouldn't be reading these posts. Know what I mean?
Looks like I've done it again... Okay. I'm ready. Bring it on.
Ok Gabe...I owe you an apology..My choice of words was totally erroneous!...When I said the word "liberal" I was an idiot!...I should have replaced that with "lax".....My choice of semantics was inadequate indeed I am getting old and premature senility is evidencing itself!....I would love to hear more about KIms trip to Italy...man I bet she had fun!...
Saiyge...I'm gonna yell at ya now...ready?...no not really but Al has some serious points...admiring the female form especially in the context of an art form that is thousands of years old is not wrong at all.Saying that these ladies are hot and tattoos make them hotter is not wrong...now if Al was at his daughters school making these statements on show and tell day,THAT would be wrong but this is a forum geared to adults...You can argue..."well I see 14 year olds on here all the time..." Al addressed that too...THEY SHOULDN"T BE!!!! And have you checked out some of the 12-14 year olds on myspace?...my god! If I caught my kid at 12 saying some of those things and exhibiting revealing pics like I see on there I would hit the roof!! Its DISGUSTING and not just a little disturbubg... where are these kids parents?...Have you seen the movie "KIDS"? Every perent should watch that movie...it will really make ya think!!
One more thing for Gabe...a "liberal" parent and a "lax" parent are totally different thing...I know just by talking to you and Kim that you are not "LAX" parents.I only wish we had more teachers like Kim here in my city...our schools are horrible....my youngest daughter was in middle school and in her home room a lot of the kids were so disruptive it precluded others from learning....when it got to the point that I had to go to the school and complain I was basically told that a lot of the teachers were actually afraid of some of the students and, as such, simply would not punish them for their deplorable behavior...Sorry but I think that is patently ridiculous.I took my daughter out of that school immediately and in her new school where kids were actually disciplined her grades shot up she was a very different girl...she now LOVED going to school....Isn't this situation a shame?...And its my understanding that its still happening but worse in that school...What can ya do?
Kandyman Joe...I am on the same page as you and I am really thinking hard about this some of your arguments are valid...I dunno...gotta think....IT HURTS!!!!...TAz
Thanks, Gabe. And its cool Taz. Like I said, just trying to open up the debate by defending the other team, even though I don't personally practice or believe in tattooing minors. I think it worked. I have new faith in humanity after reading the new posts. I was pleasantly surprised no one brought up the body maturity issue again.
I'm still not entirely convinced minor should be completely banned from the tattoo world... after all that is our "new crop" of skin and clients when the age is right. And if they are totally barred, they will never learn. I can't say much about parenting, because I'm not a parent, although I do agree with Gabe's philosophy.
One off topic discussion I'd like to have is how much is too much for kids... That is, the pressure to and fit in, not have sex, etc. How much is too much until kids crack, leading to depression, suicide, etc.? Could tattooing or piercing be a carnal outlet for these pressures minors have? I mean by way of expressing individuality in the context of today's world. This is with the understood reality that creative school programs are shrinking, etc. I am well aware that this can be viewed as a band-aid on a bigger societal problem. There are worse things a young person could do such as drinking, meth, smoking, unprotected sex, etc.

Joe ya godd a GOOD point there buddy!
Now how bout this....in the case where you WOULD do minors with parental consent...maybe schedule a monthly "underage tattoo knowledge seminar"? Require that anyone underage attend the meeting and discuss the pros and cons of being tattooed etc...Yeah it would take time out of a busy schedule but would it be worth it? We are all always talking about educating and here is a chance to get em early!
What dya think guys and gals?..TAz
I actually like that idea. The trick would be getting schools to go for it. It would be near impossible in areas, like this one, with a conservative and taboo mentality regarding body modification. I view that mentlity as part of the problem with the education system. I think a seminar for minors would have to be in school, where there is enough captive audience to make an impact. I doubt many adolescents would show up for a seminar/lecture outside of school. I know of some Universities that have done this, with some success.

Woah woah woah....
I wasnt the one who said anything about bellydancers, I was the post before that...
Sheesh.
I used to bellydance a wee bit......
-sulk-
Saiyge..its ok sweetie no body is mad at ya...we all love ya!
Belly dancer?hmmmmmmmmm!!!
Yep, when I was skinnier, cuter and pre-kidlet :)
Won't catch me prancing around like that again for a while though :)
DAMMITTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And here I was gettin the camcorder charged up!...POOP!
Cactus,
Just so you know, i didn't mean to sound as if it was an attack towards you. Adults have the right to look at and admire whatever they choose to, from belly dancers to circus clowns...lol. And i fully aggree that it's the parents' fault if their kid is thinking like that for letting them be around it...it's just that is the direction of the world today. Most movies have topless scenes, ratings are getting more and more leniant. I think Shrek is rated PG13, but they curse in it and make a lot of sexual/adult references. It's just dissapointing.
Ducky dear you never attack anyone on this forum...you are one of the nicest people on here and I'm sure Al didn't take offense!! You just keep posting and tell us what ya think kid!...T
Here's a short senario for the kiddies: imagine getting a tattoo, at a tattooists' house or even at a studio. They're willing to do it, they want to make a quick buck. So you get it done, whether it's a rap idol or a butterfly or whatever. A week goes by. Suddenly you start hallucinating. The very computer screen you are staring at right now starts to shake. You realize something's wrong. Being 14, you can't drive yourself to the doctors, so you have to tell your mom something is wrong. When you get to the doctor, he tells you that you have blood poisoning. They have to do a minor surgery, local anesthetic and cut away part of the flesh, ruining your tattoo cuz now you have a gash that will turn into a scar in your tattoo that you just paid 60, 80, even 100 bucks for if not more. The doctor tells you it wasn't the tattooists fault, there was something foreign in the air and it caused an infection. Being 14, the doctor tells your mom about your tattoo. Your mom flips out and grounds you. Not only that, you health is in danger and your mom wants to sue that tattooist over your stupid mistake.
For my boyfriend's 18th birthday, he got a tattoo of a celtic cross and band on his arm done in 3 hours. It decent, but the black is broken. This is what happened to him. He has to eventually get it everything redone. Being 18, he understood it wasn't the tattooists fault. But as a 14 year old, the typical mindset is to blame other people for your mistakes and not accept responsibility. But in the end, you're the one who has a messed up tattoo and blood poisoning, and risked hepatitis C just for some impatience. And you probably won't be able to fix up your tat, and your tattooist certainly won't take you back again.
And as far as I know, it's against California law to allow minors to get tattoos, even if there is a parent there to consent. They can get piercings at 16 with consent, but that's all the body modification you can do. If you want to wait, go to Mexico. They'll do anything, but it'll be more expensive. My boyfriend wanted his tattoo at 16 so he went to Mexico, the tattooist was willing to do it for 250. He ended up getting his for free cuz he knew the guy really well and it was his birthday.
Moral of the story: Think before you ink
I dont think anyone under the age of 18 should be allowed to get a tattoo...what is the world coming to...my son is 4 at the moment & in 10 years if he turned around & said he wanted a tattoo there is no way in hell i would take him to get one done....not a chance!!! I have tattoos & i waited til i was the correct age...these days children expect more & when i was 14 i wasnt thinking about tattoos, i was thinking about the latest boy band etc...i probably didnt know they exsisted...there are more important things to be thinking of at that age & one of them should not be tattoos!!
Not to be a nerd or anything but trying to get a 14 yr old kid to change his mind about a tattoo (or anything) is impossable. It is really up to the parents to be responsable. If my son wants a tattoo before he's old enough it wont even be a discussion it would be like him asking to my him booze uuummm NO! Anyway where do 14 yr olds get money for tattoos....last I checked they were pretty spendy! :)
They get em form the same place 16 year olds get new cars...mommy and daddy spoil the crap out of em!...Have you ever seen a high school parking lot lately?...the kids cars are newer and more expensive than the teachers...what does THAT tell ya?..T
Kudos Taz, about the spoiling of American kids.
Also, to clarify what I was saying earlier about pressure on kids... I also meant the pressure to learn, succeed, excel, work for money etc. When do kids have the chance to just be kids these days?
As far as where do kids get the money??? At the Dallas show, I noticed Sonic was hiring car hops for12 bucks an hour. That along with living with rich mommy and daddy, having no bills, means 100% disposable income. Nuff said.
Also need to clarify my comment about "minors not being banned from the tattoo world" By tattoo world, I do not neccessarily mean they should be able to get ink. I have no problem with kids/adolescents in my shop, at conventions, on forums, etc. As long as the parents are aware. As long as they are well behaved and not running around pulling art down and terrorizing the place. Ideally they come to learn how to appreciate the art and how to get good work.
Thoughts on how to approach schools aboutsetting up those seminars anyone?
-Kandyman Joe
You get the kids interested with flyers word of mouth or even underage shows......have them (or Mommy) pay like 100 bucks for a tattoo education class.... teach it in your stidio on Sunday mornings, if you let Mommy come too the parents will feel they are "hanging out" with their kids, that way the parents are armed with proper information.... kids will tell all there friends they are hagning out at a tattoo studio and you'll probably get a bunch of them all eager to get the info. As far as getting the schools to foot the bill you would propably have to go to a community collage and offer it as an elective.
Nop I'm talkin about an in the studio thing (purely hypothetical) where we require any underage client to have attended a class on the pros and cons of tattooing BEFORE they can get tattooed....Damn sure wouldn't want the school system or govnt involved in ANY way...Again only hypothetical...TAz
Taz is right, do the seminars at your studio and workd of mouth/flyer advertising is the way to get the word out. might even do it the first sunday of the month of something...
HAHA, people ARE spoiled...you can say that again!!! My will-be sister in law is 18 (i'm only 19), her parents do EVERYTHING for her. Paid for her to stay on campus when the school is 20 min away, didn't make her work at all! While i was told if i want spending money i had to work for it. worked 20 hours a week through my Sr. year of high school, but this girl had more money than i did!!! Then, just this past week she got a job, and they went to get her a car. Instead of getting her a used car with a low payment, they got her a fricken brand new toyota corolla! $400 a month payment, and $190 insurance payment, yet the girl is only making 7.50ish an hour, part time. Not to mention that she constantly complains when she has to lift a finger (carry something upstairs, do something for you, etc). EVERY time you ask this girl to do anything, her knee will give out or her shoulder will hurt, and mom and dad buy it and pamper her!!! How do you think she's gonna afford the car if she's only making like 550 a month? Mommy and daddy again! I know i shouldn't be complaining since they let me move in with my fiance (not for free i might add, but they at least let me move in), and, call me jealous if you want to, but that is just rediculous!!!! (and, while i may not mind having a steady cash flow, i would NEVER want to be that dependant on my parents at this age!)
...and you thought spoiled 14 year olds were bad
I see this situation all the time duck! It saddens me...But think of it this way...who will appreciate their lives more...her who was just given everything or you who had to work for it?...You of course...and you will be the better for it...Now I believe in spoilin kids a bit especially the wee ones but to just hand over everything they want is simply creating a monster with no work ethic or value structure and usually devoid of many of the values and mores necessary to be a good person...well at least my idea of a good person
A good example is my best friend and grandson 2 year old Virgil...I spoil the dogcrap out of him...but at the same time he EARNS what he gets from me by picking up his room (well MOST of the time LOL!)and doing his little chores...and he earns money by doing work in the yard, helping pick up at the shop etc...He will know the importance of working for things actually he already does ...AT TWO!!!!..
OK off the soapbox TAZ!!!
Sorry this is late Ducky, but no worries! It's all good. I don't feel attacked. I agree with you totally. It can be very dissappointing these days. Must be very confusing to be a female these days. So many fucking mixed messages. It's crap. All little girls should be made to feel proud of themselves from the get go.
Here's my question, like Taz sorta said, where the hell do these teenagers get the money for these underage tats anyway? Shit it's all I can do to scrape up $350!
They have nicer cars than I do! As Taz would say... DDDDAAAAMMMNNNITTT!!!!
prolly all the drugs they sell and alchohal they get for people and shit. If you go to a highschool undercover as a student, or look on my-space even and look at the profiles of a high school (Northwest High School in Maryland is one of them, i went there and i can tell you LOTS of kids were involved in that stuff), you will prolly be scared shitless at how many kids are out there getting drunk, smoking up, etc, at 9th grade or lower! My sister just turned 14, and she is goign into high school next year. So, 14 year olds get involved with that shit...and i think it's even startin to go into middle schools.
Fact is, drunking and drug parties go on almost every weekend with thousands of kids all over the U.S., and someone is getting paid for the drugs/alchohol. There was a 14 or 15 year old on one of those judge shows the other day that made like, $300 a DAY selling dope.
Plus, once you add in gangs, cults, STELAING, etc....how would the kids NOT get the money?
Well I still have a lot of faith in our kids....Yes I think the drugs and drinking and promiscuity is common ( how could it not be common with the morals exhibited on MTV and VH1? Jsut look at the behavior that is advocated on those channels....and we wonder why?...)
Exactly why I believe that we, as parents in todays society with its "its ok they are just kids" mentality, MUST reevaluate how our children are raised.....Its up to us...the adults to institute rules and give our kids role models that exhibit lifestyles that are responsible and honorable...TAz
Taz I agree 100%. I try to rais my son the "old school" way of parenting (the way my mamma raised me) and being relativly young I get a lot of flack from my peers for not being "laid back" enough.
Well, just rest assured that later in life, when their kid is in the hospital with a bullet wound, or has gone missing from fuckin the wrong guy, at least your kid is home safe cuz you didn't let them go do whatever they want
And Molly thats what we ALL need to start doing...not only preaching values but living by them and setting examples..so unlike the hippocrites of farcical religiondom......."you act this way but I don't have to cause I am A..your dad/mom or B bacause I am an adult.....those arguments just do not work with kids and/or young adults....We MUST do something and do it soon. Throwing more money at the problem and hiring more teachers is NOT the answer...we must first start hiring GOOD teachers and paying them what they are worth....a GOOD teacher is invaluable and ,as in ancient cultures past, should be revered not paid only subsistence wages...and they should have backup from not only the school systems when it comes to discipline but also from the parents.
I was a bad kid!...But I refuse to blame it on my teachers because back then (stone ages!lol!)teachers took their jobs seriously...not that some don't now, just speaking in general...Ans I can't blame it on my mom who was the worlds best!...There are some kids who are gonna be bad kids no matter what. But I firmly believe that most kids are looking ,desperately looking for concrete guidance from adults...they'll never admit it but its true. There are some great kids out there ....we gotta step up to the bat folks!...TAz
Hey all. Im 17yrs and have 2 tattoos and im agree'in wit every1 in here. I got my both my tattoos on my 15th birthday (angel on left shoulder blade, and devil on right) and i REGRET it.
At the moment i am saving up to have them removed.
From then to now i have grown and my tattoo's have umm.... i guess the only word i can use is "stretched".
I would say wait until you are atlest 18yrs before getting a tattoo.
Take the next 4yrs thinking what you want, coz they dont just wash off after a few day, you are stuck with them FOREVER! (or untill you can afford to have them removed)
Seriously, ANY parent who gives their 14yr or any child under 18yrs permission to get a tattoo is messed up. My parents almost shot me when they found out!
So yeah just give it some time and really know what you want.
what seems "cool" now aint gunna b cool in a yr or 2.
Peace
Thanks for the intelligent post Pookey...hope someone will listen!!
My first tat was at the age of 18. I'de wanted one for a while, but could never make up my mind on what I actually wanted. I joined the Marines in July of 03 and three days after I went to boot camp, my sister was killed in a car crash. I got my first tat Feb 04 shortly before I turned 19. It's her name with a halo over it and angel wings to the side under it, it has a banner that says "Blood sweat and tears, I did it for you" under that it says USMC. I dedicated my graduation from bootcamp to my sister. Two years later, I have gained two more. Each with an extreemly significant meaning to myself. If you are going to get a tat, no matter what age you are, 14 or 35. Make sure you actually want it and it's going to mean something to you for the rest of your life and not just because you decide one day, I want a tatoo and I'm going to go and get one before I change my mind. If you still want a tat in 4 years, then I guess it's going to have a little more meaning to you because you at least waited until a professional artist would give you one. Look before you leap, think of your future and if it's going to be something that will still have meaning in 2 or three years.

Well the guy I went to was my moms tattoo deisgner. He only did it (with me being 14) was because I knew what I wanted since I was 9 and because he has done my moms tattoos. I just suggest knowing what you want for sure. Think at least a year
i dnt think at 9yrs or 14yrs ANYONE is ready 4 a tattoo!
and anyone who is STUPID enough to tattoo under the age of 18yrs shouldnt b tattoo'in at all!
i wanted a angel and devil on each shoulder blade since i was 10yrs old! i got them done when i was 15yrs and now i am 17yrs old n im having them removed in 2months!
That just goes to show that things change and back then it was the perect thing 2 do and well now... im paying for it!
i think it is a huge disgrace when an adult concents to something that is just not right for a child, they havnt even grown yet.
peace
don't get tattooed just because other kids have 'em. be a leader, not a follower. they probably got their ink with some homemade equipment, or done under "less-than-sterile" conditions. you have plenty of time to search & research your design and artist

A couple of my mates got tattooed when they were 15, in some guys house! The tattoos looked cool, and they still do, but one of them got HIV because the guy didnt use clean needles!
DONT GET TATTOOED UNDERAGE!!!!!! AND MAKE SURE THE ARTIST USES CLEAN NEW NEEDLES!!!!!!
I waited untill I was 18, and got a dragon over my ribcage, it looks amazing, its a complete one off, and more importantly im still perfectly healthy!!!!
WAIT TILL YOUR 18 KIDS!!! IF YOU DONT YOULL REGRET IT LATER ON!!!!!!
it's like the song from that old TV show...
This is the thread that never ends...
It just goes on and on my friends
Some people started asking shit not knowing they were dumb
and they'll continue asking shit forever jsut because
this is the threat that never ends....
I got a tattoo when i was 14...went to a realy good place to, and said i was 19, wanted a tattoo, and they didn't say a word...I even got to wait around for the best artist there. I had been thinking about it for a while, i still love that tattoo, so it definatly depends...
Do you remember where you went? Do you have a pic you can send?....Just curious. We still haven't seen any HONEST pics from people that have had tattoos done undersage.
....And in the mean time while we wait, anyone want to start a pot to see how long this thread goes before Gabe archieves it in file thirteen?...
if you want it get it!
Im 13 and go to the best private school in the state, live with really snobby perants and siblings, so there was no way my perants would let me get it done, but i did anywayz ( behind there back) and it was donein a really nice CLEAN studio and its healed great!
Just mak sure you dont get something stupid, or in a place werer mom and dad might see.!
But on the other hand waiting probly is a good idea, im not gwetting another until im about 20-22, because if your perants find out you'll probly be dead.
And once again lets see a pic of this wonderful tattoo you got illegally in such a nice studio!...Betcha we NEVER see it ...what do you think guys and gals?
Al....Where are you Al?...Isn't this where ya say "they do coverups"?...The very sad thing is that a cover up won't do anything at all for AIDS or HEP.....Soooo sad!
No, you will be dead from either Aids or Hep, not your parents. But just for the hell of it, I will second the request to know the name of the place you had your tattoo done illegaly and would love to see an honest pic of your tattoo.... But as usual we will all be let down again by the forum troll and his lackeys.
Ok, im from france and was jst passing this website as i was searching for some pictures for tattoos, this topic is so increadibly interesting!!
look i have wanted a tattoo since the age of 14, im 16 and i will wait till im 18 to get one!!
the best thing about this is that i realised that no good tattoo place will tattoo a minor! and no good tattoo shop will jst talk to a person on the mobile and go ahead!
Becuase i have wanted a tattoo since the age of 14 i have had time to decide what i want, where i want it and how much i really want it.
and through doing this i have had time to designe my tattoos, get people oppinions on where i want it and say to myself that i have waited 2 years to get a tattoo so far, whats the harm in waiting 2 more years to get one?
impatience really showz your imaturity, and maybe yeah to you 14 year olds, you dont want to hear some one calling you imature, but the truth of the matter is that if you want a tattoo and are sure of it then you wont have any problem waiting til your 18!!
look people, im fourteen and its pretty cool tht u guys r taking the time to tell ppl our age abt if its right or wrong, it isn't too good to do it now, and ppl my age i think its not amazing if u do it...i will actually wait till im eighteen...its just tooo much stress on it, i mean u gotta put all this stuff on it, clean it and sutff like tht even though i got an amazing vision of wht its gonna be, a heart with thorns around it or a chinese writing (or japanese) with some deep meaning...but srsly, i wanna get a good job so y'all just dont do it... im not gonna its just way too much risk
If you can't even spell "where" right, I don't think you should really be getting a tattoo.
Hey ladies and Gentlemen! Sorry I'm late! My internet has been down for a few days... so here it is.... you know I gotta do it..... Here it comes.......
1. Go for it! Them tired old strung out fuckers don't know nuthin' about you or y'all anyway, and besides, them's just a bunch of dumb old fuckers. (and H8TERS too... I'm trying that one on for size, it's new this time! Whadda ya guys think?)

yo fu werk. urah8tr. ight?
To be fair, i cudnt give two shits whether all the 18+ agree with pre 18's having them or not, its upto the individual, its not like theyre tattooing you. Also, you say your 18+ and mature, but some of the comments you come out with make me wonder if your acctually 18+.
So to conclude, stfu and leave the Pre 18's alone they do as they wish and if they regret what they have done then thats just part of learning, everyones done it.
Thanks for your moronic post alexis .....just remember...
WE DO COVERUPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes.... my mother was dumb enough to let me get tattooed when I was 15. Now I am 28 and working on getting all of them either covered or re-worked. So yeah, I wish I would have had these "old fuckers and h8ters" to steer me in the right direction when I was your age.... but as they say.. They do coverups!
Fuckn A Taz!! I Think some of em are starting to listen!!!
Jesus murphy!!! I was almost sixty years old when I got my first tattoo and I was not ready for another for a good while. Now, I'm searching far and wide just for an idea of what I want and I'm in no damn hurry. At my (old) age I still can't quite make up my mind. How the hell could a kid do better?
*sigh* I'm getting a headache reading all these posts and trying to catch up. Being the mother of seven, I find the whole thread very interesting and I'm surprised so much has come out of it.
Moral of the story? If I sixty-one year old mother of seven can't make up her mind what tattoo to get, how the hell can a kid do any better? Give it time, kids. You won't regret it if you don't just do it in a fit of some kind.
Im 16 (17 this Nov) & I plan on getting a tattoo done this summer hopefully, Ive got loads of mates who went out when they were 14/15 & got a couple of tattoos done.
In my opinion its stupid, your body hasnt stopped growing yet & besides once you get to... I dont know... 30, your prob look back & think how stupid you were to do that.
Yea okay Im only 16 but Ive wanted a tattoo since I was 10/11 (always been in love with tattoos), Ive researched, planned, studied everything I need to know about tattoos since I was 12. I know Im still young but atleast I know & have thought hard about it.
I dont get why a 14 year old would want a tattoo so young, spec seeming as its just to fit in with everyone else!
& where are theyre parents? Shouldnt they be stopping these kids?!
You mean like YOUR parents should be?
DEAR Princess,
I am a teenager too, I know what you are going through I got my first tattoo when I was 17 it was hard for me to get one at that age I would hate to think how hard it would be to get one when you are still a kid. You will most likely have to go to a person who does tatoo not as a profession, but as a hobby. The only thing is, you have to be careful because they might not be as clean as the tattoo shops, because of health inspectors, you can get diseases, and they might not be as good as some of the professionals. Just be careful because You prbably will want your tattoo really bad and won't care who you get it from.....I know this because I was there too, that is why I want to be the only woman tattoo artist I know.....But if you were in their shoes you might not tattoo a child, what you think is cool know, you might not think is cool later, and you might look back and say,"what the hell was I thinking," and your friends will laugh and think that it is retarded.
~*~ DANI~~~~future tattoo artist.
GOOD post Dani!...And thanks for posting!!...
Good luck with your choice to be a tattoo artist!...its a long hard road but if you want it badly enough you can do it!!!...We need more female tattoo artists!...If we can ever help just let us know!!...TAz
I'm new to this site and i just turned 18, damn this little kid has a mouth, he needs to get smacked up talking to older people like that. Anyways I'm thinking about getting 2 tattoos but i'm having trouble deciding which one, i want to get it on my left forearm. One of them is a bible text out of the book of revelation in spanish on a scroll or blind justice, the bible text helped me out while i was incarcerated and blind justice is against the injustices that go on in prison. I would also like to know what REALLY good tattoo parlors are there in the new york city area.
I'd go with the Scroll. Only I'd do it in Latin.
wow everyones being fucked up, these kids are 14 stop yelling at them, theyve made the mistake already. if i had a tattoo wen i was 14 id feel cool aswell stop bitching at them there going to feel stupid enough wen they start stretching, or when they get older so let them enjoy them while they can. there 14 u think there going to listen to u guys? let them fuck there bodies up and regret it later. anyways, i need to find someone who can tattoo in farsi iv posted so much shit for it iv bin lookin for it since i was 19 someone get back to me PLEASE/
So we are being fucked up because we are trying to KEEP these kids from making a mistake?....YOU are the only one here who is fucked up!!...T
Taz... Don't hit him... it's not his fault. He was born that way...
I'm 18... I've had my first tattoo for about six months.. I've had the option of getting a tattoo since about 12.. but I decided to wait.. my ideas really haven't changed very much, I knew I wanted a tattoo to memorialize my uncle.. and a long stem rose down my back.. But, I also know that I'm about 6 inches taller than I was at 12/13/14/15.. (freak growth spurt).. I do also know that up until about 10 years ago.. tattooing was completely illegal here..
But, I'm very happy that I waited until I was 18 to get my memorial tattoo.. My uncle was killed when I was 9, and it completely changed my life, I can't say I've completely gotten over it today.. When I was younger I just wanted to have my uncle's name and his birth date, and death date tattooed on my hip.. it's something I'm still tossing around getting... eventually.. But, in the 9 years that've eclipsed since my uncle died, my godmother, my boyfriend, my grandpa, and my cousin have all died.. Also, my grandma, my inspiration in life, came very close to dying from cancer.. (as a bit of an inspirational side note.. my grandma was given three months to live two weeks before her cancer completely disappeared) and I've moved three times, switched schools, came very close to losing my home, and my heart broken.. I thus decided that I wanted to memorialize ALL the difficulty I've faced.. hoping that my tattoo would be the closing chapter of that time in my life.. since then, I've graduated high school (well.. on the 8th <3).. taken on the extra work load of being a college freshman while still a high school senior, and all in all had a pretty good life..
When I decided to get my tattoo.. I looked for an artist for five months.. went to all the different shops in town, and talked to every artist in each one, until I found one that I was comfortable with, and specialized in the kind of work I wanted.. which was something custom that I drew myself, and completely love.. I know that in 10 years I'm going to be a completely different person than I am today, but I also know that I'm going to look at my tattoo and remember what drove me to get it..
I've got a koi.. because of what it symbolizes.. not only does it symbolize good luck, as everyone says, which believe me.. I need..(In the past three days I've gotten punched, dropped a keyboard tray on my ankle.. slammed my elbow into something metal.. and got really bad sunburn on my knee...) but , when drawn (or in this case tattooed) swimming upwards, it symbolizes overcoming obstacles.. which I know I have.. the koi swims upriver much like a salmon, but much cooler looking than a salmon.. and at the source of the yellow river, once it passes through the golden gate, it becomes a dragon.. so I think it means a lot to me..
Just my two cents.. lol.. a very long two cents.. so maybe a quarter?
You can see it here:

Right after
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b235/deathlily/DSC00466.jpg
32 days in... I know.. it needs touched up.. Some of the lines didn't heal very well 'cause my immune system is damn aggressive..
Enjoi..
Looks like a very well done tattoo. I love the shading. It shows that you took the time to pick your artist well. Who did it?
Rich McKenney originally of Grade A in Fort Wayne Indiana.. now of Tattoo Device.. same city..
Thanks! My wishlist is already pretty long, and all nearer to home, but I think it is important to get the good artists names out there when you find them...there are certainly enough 'hacks' promoting themselves!
Yeah.. my next piece is going to start my spine piece.. which is going to be irises going from the base of my spine, right about the butt crack (lol..) to the top of the spine, right where the neck meets the spine.. I'm (hopefully.. I dunno if it can be done) going to get one full color iris a year.. for as long as it takes.. with some little leafy things going between them.. I'm working on the design now.. my wishlist, however.. includes a couple other things.. regardless of all the hype with Miami Ink on TLC.. I've wanted a Garver for years.. when I first started getting into the tattoo "scene".. especially the traditional Japanese art.. I was always researching traditional Japanese tattooing, and his work was what struck me most often.. so.. when I reach my goal of weight loss.. I think that will be my gift to myself.. I want to have a phoenix on my other set of ribs (left).. quite a bit larger than my koi.. with the same black and white shading, with flames in color, instead of flowers.. lol.. I think I can take the pain.. <3... all my work, however, is going to be able to be covered up with a t-shirt, and my hair.. nothing on the legs.. sorry girls, but I think it's tacky...
sticker machine
UMMMMM...hey Brandon...mind elaborating on the "sticker machine" post.....or are we supposed to guess?
Okay, okay, I'll play...... um........FIRE HYDRANT!
Hey guys I gotta question.....is this the longest thread this site has ever seen?
yep!
Congratulations to "were do 14 year olds get tattoos?" for being the longest and most pointless thread on TattooNow!
I guess it could have been helpful at one point or another to a few folks but no matter what people who have been tattooed and have made mistakes are trying to tell these bull-headed teens, they're still gonna go out and get tattooed by bootleg bobby in his basement with a sweet homemade 'gun' and catch the Hep.
Good work kiddies!

I am 14...i really want a tattoo on the back of my neck with a picture of the grim reaper and underneath its gonna say "ALL HAIL BLACK METAL" in black and orange...but i cant find a place where theyll let me do it...so ive decided to wait till im 16 cuz thats the age you have to be around here
This thread is starting to remind me of Keith Richards.... You see the man deteriorating before your very eyes but he REFUSES TO DIE!!!
well i would imagine a kid at 14 could get a tattoo from anywhere! little kids have a mean determination factor. my uncle gave me my first tatt when i was 15. granted i grew up in his shop and learned the art at 16. been out of the game for a while, but ready to get back to business. but i dont know about bad. i got two of them before i was 18 and i dotn regret them. honestly it makes me smile to remember how bad ass it was to be the only kid on the whole F****** block that was 15 and had ink on him. hit me up.
I would like to make a statement about this. I'm not defending either side, (the wiggas or the somewhat-igorant-towards-the-expendable-youth tattoo artists) I'd just like to put something out there.
All these tattoo artists on the forum are telling us about how much they regret getting their little tattoo when they were 14. They are also telling us to wait until we're older, because what THEY did was a huge mistake.
The way I see it, if you guys can make mistakes, why can't we? mistakes are how you learn, and you get to have fun while it lasts. Being kids, its very important to feel good about how we look. Face it, tattoos make you feel pretty good. Except while they're being done, then you feel like raw meat.
I had one more thing to say, but I forget. So, cya
I have another comment to make, about the people who are saying kids only want tattoos to fit in. Not true. We get tattoos because we want them. And another thing, you dont need a tattoo to fit in, in fact, the majority of people around our age are preps, yes, the ones who wear the old navy board shorts and pink polo shirts. THEY DONT GET TATTOOS.
The only difference between making a "mistake" on your own versus doing something just because you want after those of us tell you that you should thing about waiting is that is is no longer a mistake. It is you being stubborn and doing something just because you don't want to listen. There is a BIG difference.
Sailor combs....do you realize that in most states it is ILLEGAL to tattoo a minor?.....Do you realize that in moat states you can go to JAIL fot tattooing a minor?....Do you realize that if you tattooed MY 14 year old I would remove your fucking thumbs? As would most parents with any sense.
Any tattoo artist who would tattoo a child is a disgrace to the art.
PERIOD!
Ahh... nothing like a little kid that feels they have something important to contribute, but doesn't have the balls to say who they are.
Or a grown man who calls himself an artist that would commit child abuse and tattoo a kid...which is worse?...I say the grown man...he at least should know better!
Gotta agree with ya on that one.
I agree with Sir J-Werk.
Yeah we made mistakes and in most instances others will only learn by making mistakes the same way. BUT do you really want to mess around with something as permanent as a tattoo? Its not really neccessary to screw your skin up for the rest of your life when you can just be patient and wait your turn like everyone else. Its not going to kill a teenager to wait it out.
Half of them are doing it just to be cool in the first place. If they do have a valid reason, then more power to 'em. Like a death in the family or loss of a loved one, thats cool. But at the same time, theres no reason why something like that couldnt wait either. With maturity comes patience.
When kids turn 18 the world of tattooing is completely open to them because just about any artist will tattoo 'em, plus they have a choice of custom artists that can design kick ass pieces that they wont regret like that 'cool ass tribal skull thingie' that they loved so much back in the day.
The point of the tattoo is not about wanting a tattoo its about wanting something on your skin as an expression of you that means something.
I really dont agree with people saying i want a tattoo but dont know what to get. It should be the other way round...You want a *** so you get it tattood.
I had my first tattoo at 14 another at 17 and will be getting my third in a couple of weeks i am now 20.
All my tattoo's have alot of meaning to me that will stay with me for life.
At any age you know truly what is within you, yes things change but some things dont.
Dont discuss what age is wrong or right. Its about wanting to express yourself with something that will never change
"Dont discuss what age is wrong or right. Its about wanting to express yourself with something that will never change"
Looks like you missed the point completely.
Kids want to express themselves with images that they THINK will never change. Its a fact that teenagers are fickle and indecisive. Its all a part of growing up really. Most of them really do believe that what they want right now is what they're going to be happy with for the rest of their lives. But think about it: How often do we as tattooists have to stop these little ignorant clowns from getting 'Thug Life' tattooed down their forearms or '2pac' on their biceps? How many desperate 20 somethings come into our shops every day trying to cover up confederate rebel flags and barbed wire arm-bands that were the coolest thing ever when they were teens?
Not to mention that many kids want to find alternate methods of getting tattooed if they cant be tattooed by a professional. They'll try it themselves with a needle and indian ink or some bullshit, or they'll get it done by a friend's dad in his kitchen risking an infection of Hepatitus or something.
So if you're grown and you're happy with your tattoos, then great, more power to ya. But we cannot take the risk of letting every little impatient adolescent get tattooed because we're somewhat certain that they might possibly like it when they're older...?
Fuck that, let 'em wait.
I think that your stereotyping young people.
Why is it so hard to believe that young people may just have a passion or love for somethign that will never change.
There are always going to be people who get stupid tattoos but that applies to those of the older generation as well!!
It really gets to me that people disrespect our younger generation so much, yeh there are some of them who suck...BUT....there are also alot of older people who suck to!
I stand firm that its not about age. Its about who you are inside and wanting to express it on the outside.
Man there are some really self righteous, opinionated people out there!! Seems just because the personal point you are making is missed it automatically counts as wrong.
Whilst i fully agree that there are some real shit, badly done tattoos out there, the majority of which are on younger people it has to be said, it is true to say and i totally agree with:-
"Dont discuss what age is wrong or right. Its about wanting to express yourself with something that will never change"
I got my first tattoo at 16 and, as a guitarist, naturally it was a les paul on my right shoulder. Bear in mind this is no tribal shit, no fucking design chosen off the wall, i went to the guy and explained fully what i wanted and got him to draw it out in front of me, took it away and studied it for 2 solid days before going back and going for it.
I never see myself being anything other than a musician and, as such, that tattoo will be as relevant and mean as much to me as the day it was done, so go ahead and tell me i was just trying to be kool.
Kids who get tattoed for the sake of it are rightly mocked, people like me who get a design that symbolises what my entire life & passion is about know exactly what we are doing, don't tar us all with the same brush man!

Then you're as ignorant as she is
What i and half the other tattooists here are saying is that we see this shit every day. Kids want to get tattooed because they think they know what they'll want for the rest of their lives. Whats-her-face made a half way decent point about people who are older now who still make bad tattoo mistakes. No shit. We try to help them out as much as possible as well, like telling them that tribal band aint gonna be so cool if they want to sleeve their arms out later...
Get your heads outta your asses, noone here is fuckin self righteous. I've been tattooing for 3 years and i'm already tired of having to steer kids away from whayt they think is a good tattoo for them. I.E. The hands, forearms and necks, horrible subject matter, and the list goes on.
We do a ton of cover-ups on these little "Tattoos that i chose because i knew it was something that i would love for the rest of my life", no guff, chet. Isnt that the point of getting a tattoo? If so then why are we covering them?
Everyones going to make mistakes eventually...
But i mean whatever, its not like tattoo artists know what they're doing or anything. Why should it matter what they think...?
So in your eyes i am ignorant because i have an opinion that differs to yours.
"Kids want to get tattooed because they think they know what they'll want for the rest of their lives."
Adults get tattoos thinking they know what they want for the rest of their lives, but what someone want for the rest of their lives starts from childhood!
"We try to help them out as much as possible as well, like telling them that tribal band aint gonna be so cool if they want to sleeve their arms out later..."
Maybe just Maybe the person wants a tribal band....is that so hard to believe that other people have opinions on what looks cool and what doesnt and that those opinions dont match up to yours!! What one person thinks is cool is very different to anothers and if thats what they want for the rest of there lives then let them get on with it without passing judgement!
"been tattooing for 3 years and i'm already tired of having to steer kids away from whayt they think is a good tattoo for them"
Ive had tattoos longer than you have been tattooing!! why do you seem to think that your opinion is right. They are paying you not to tell them your opinion but to do your JOB! you are paid buy kids and adults to tattoo what THEY want wherever THEY want. Nothing to do with your opinions! Who gives a fuck if you dont think that tattoos on forearms are a good idea, if someone wants one thats their right oh and just remember for that tattoo you are working for them!
Doesnt matter how many cover-ups you do, yeh there are going to be some people who make mistakes BUT dont stereotype all of young people getting tattoos will want a cover up!
Fucking respect anyone no matter there age, they are a paying customer, and YOU lets not forget are working FOR THEM!!
Mario J is right and he listens to the PROS that Have been tattooing for longer than you have been alive...
And good artists don't exist just to put any kind of bullshit tattoo on anyone...after years and years of experience with morons like you we pretty well know what people are going to regret and yes we do turn down tattoos. No professional is going to tattoo a minor whether it is illegal in your locale or not.In most states it is considered child abuseand people go to PRISON for it!.This is not a conspiracy we didn't just get together and decide to piss off young people by refusing to give them tattoos...there are REASONS we don't do it All of them are listed above ...over and over and over again!..T
And i've probably had tattoos longer than you have!
Big deal, you're still a teen.
My point is this, and listen carefully before you have your period again or some shit:
Most of the kids that walk into our shops who want to get tattooed THINK that they know whats going to be great for 'em. You with me? Unfortunately the majority of teens are indecisive as hell and irrational, BUT thats because thats how their minds work at that age. Yeah, we've all been there and we were no different. I got my first one before i knew any better on my shoulder blade. Eventually i ended up getting a back piece and my first one was very much in the way. But i digress.
We cant assume that every kid who wants to get tattooed is more mature than the next and 'this will surely be the kid thats happy with their tattoo forever!' No, it doesnt work that way.
So if you've been tattooed like forever ago and you're happy with your ink then kudos to you, this doesnt apply to you. In which case stop the with fucking attitude. Take it in stride and move on because you know i'm not taklking about ya.
And to the others, i'm not a self righteous bastard. I left Bermuda because i was tired of tattooing flash and teenagers that wanted tattoos more so as a trend than an actual statement. Musical artists names, song titles, not to mention tons of their boyfriends and girlfriends names. Is anyone going to defend these dumbasses? Like i said, everyone makes mistakes and yeah, to some degree we should let 'em... or should we?
I know personally i cant let most of em make the same mistakes that me and other tattooists i've worked have made.
(And that dumb shit about being just an artist and they pay me to do what they want doesnt fly either. I'm gonna be a tattooist no matter what, the difference is i'll try to tell people what will translate well onto skin so they stand less of chance of fuckin it up )
And yeah, i've done a bunch of cover-ups. I love 'em now! People get tattooed with images that were ( at the time ) a great idea but eventually they grow out of 'em. Such is life...
Is anyone still reading this far? Fuck it
I never said that people my age and older done make mistakes either. Fuck, i aint no different, i got shit bein lasered off right now! Of course the more time you put into your research, the happier you'll be with your tattoo later on.
Shit, i gotta go to work!!
You're right Melissa!!!!!!!!!! You tell 'em!!!!!!!!!!!! You go get whatever you want on your skin.....................truth is, we could really care less. Besides, we all need a good laugh once in a while!!
Cheers
TCE
..........................Oh, and until they're 18, no one on here is working for them.
TCE
OKAY TAZ, JWERK and everybody else who has heard me say this before, HERE's WHAT YOU"VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
and with apologies to LEGACY becauses I think we've thrown down on this before, but I really respect his opinion, and I think he'll understand where I'm coming from on this...
HERES THE DEAL. I'M GONNA BE SELF RIGHTEOUS AND OPINIONIONATED HERE. WHY? BECAUSE I CAN. I'VE LIVED OVER HALF OF MY LIFE. I'VE BEEN SO CLOSE TO DEATH SO MANY TIMES, IT'S A MIRACLE I'M HERE AT ALL. I HAVE SOMETHING VALUEABLE TO SAY, AND IF I WERE YOU STUPID FUCKING KNOW-IT-ALL PSEUDO INTELLECTUAL TEENAGERS I'D CLEAN THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR EARS AND LISTEN.
There are a hell of a lot of people on this forum telling you not to do this. But you don't want to listen because you are somehow miraculously "DIfferent" from the 3 thousand generations of teenagers that have come before you. Somehow, you are more mature than the rest of the teenagers out there. You are different. Nobody understands you, or anything you are going through, or how superior your intellect is, or how meaningful your design is to you, not like all the other teens out there who just want a tat because they want one, but somehow, miraculously, you are different. Of course you are. Except that YOU'RE NOT.
You are a human kid, just like every other human kid out there, subject to the same biological urges, conditioning and environmental factors that every other human kid is subject to. And although you THINK you are different, your not. You are just a kid. You don't know everything. You can't. I don't know everything. But I know one thing... many of these guys have 30 or more years of life experience on you. When they tell you something, if you really ARE so smart and exceptional and different, then be the teenager who pulls your head out of your ass and actually LISTENS to what they are telling you.
Dig this shit for a moment if you will. If a 40 year old tells you that if you put a gun to your head and pull the trigger, you will blow your fucking dumb head off, why do you think they are telling you this? I mean, after all, it is true that it IS your life, so it ABSOLUTELY IS your right to put a gun to your head and pull the trigger and blow your dumb fucking head off, but WHY is the adult telling you not to do this?
Which one of you dumbasses wants to step up to this forum and tell these guys it's because the adults here are just "harshin' your shred, man" cause they don't understand YOU of all teenagers?
Okay, now which one of you dumbasses wants to step up to this forum and tell these guys that they don't know nuthin' about nuthin' cause they don't even know you?
Do you realize, you ignorant little fucking hormones that among the countries of the world, that for some goddamned rediculous reason, the United States is one of the only countries where AGE is seen as a LIABILITY instead of a condition of honor? If you were Chinese, your ancestors would be your source of strength, and your Grandparents would hold the position of HONOR in your family? Why? Because they don't understand you? Think again.
So here's the fun part. This is where I get to say...
1. Go on an git whatever U want cuz like them dum ol bastirds don lik no nuthin about you anywayz an like them is jez a bunch a h8trs anywaze an don no nuthin about nuthin.
2. Don't forget to do the face! Only a fuckin' pussy would forget to do his face! That there is some PRIME real estate!!!!!!
3. And, remember, not that YOU'LL need it, but when your buddies need it, remember, almost all them dumb ol' fuckers do COVERUPS!!!
4. As usual, all of us have put up or shut up, so lets see yours? Shoot us some pics of these meaningful Teenage tats!! Why doesn't anyone ever have the balls to do this? C'mon! Your as smart and educated as the adults, so throw down and hang with em'! Belly up to the bar, take your medicine, and show us how grown up you are!!!
Or, you could do this. Realize you are a kid. Quit trying to grow up so fucking fast. Enjoy it while you can. Believe me, you will have more time than you ever, ever wanted to be an adult, and it ain't always all it's cracked up to be. TATTOOS ARE ONE OF THE PRIVELEDGES OF BEING AN ADULT. WHEN YOU GET THERE, YOU WILL HAVE EARNED IT, AND WE WILL ALL RESPECT YOU WITH OPEN ARMS. Until then, Jesus fuck. Slow down. Go swimmin'. It's summer for Christ's Sake. You won't have summer forever.

What im finding difficult to understand is why any of you think you have the right to tell anyone else what they should or shouldnt do.
Just because your older makes no fucking difference, there are kids that make more sense than some older people, because they are growing up with the new world. Older people have little understanding of the world we now live in.
You really piss me off you really do. None of us are Almighty,
Finally, no-one has the right to tell anyone else what to do.
Dude,
Firstly i am 20 years old, so well within both my legal rights and your lots "wait til your a little older" scenario.
Secondly, did you not read a word it said??!!. Once again, the only thing i have ever done, do now and will ever seriously want to do (obligatory day job to pay for food/bills etc aside) is play, live and breathe music, hence i 100% stand by my decisions and will continue to do so.
I aint playing the angst-ridden, nobody understands me angle either. My argument is that you pigeonhole anyone "younger" than yourself as a kid incapable of decisions that will hold up. I am fully against anyone who walks into a tattooist, picks a design off of the wall that they like and gets it done there and then, as i said before they are rightly mocked. Same with people who get their names, or the same tired fucking tribal or chinese designs, the vast majority of which dont mean what they are supposed to anyway.
There are some stupid people out there, and on here, who make wrong decisions but why do you seem incapable of taking on the points of myself or melissa above that ours mean a lot to us individually?. Surely you cant contest that a guitarist getting a fucking guitar tatto, the same model as the one i own no less, was a meanignless decision that im gonna end up regretting in the future?.
And this:-
"Go swimmin'. It's summer for Christ's Sake. You won't have summer forever."
What right do you have to talk down to and mock people like this anyway?.
Fair enough, at 14 i would probably have had big ideas of having the appetite album sleeve on my fucking chest, but have now thought about it and taken the time to realise that a tattoo should be personal and meaningful to that person, hence it should be thought out and relevant to your life, both now and in the future.
And lastly, whats up with all this adult/kid shit man?, your the one(s) creating this divide with this superiority complex you seem to have going on. Bear in mind that im defending no-one but myself here, the majority of people on here deserve the shit they're getting but until i post some pictures, which i will to prove the point that JUST MAYBE im not just some stupid kid, just remember that then and only then do you have any right to make judgements on what i consider to be some very relevant and extremely well done artwork, on what, lets face it, is MY OWN motherfucking skin!!

I totally agree with Shaun, and am really intrigued to see his artwork.
Maybe you guys who are just intent on giving us shit because we are younger than you and got tatoo's underage should give him a chance.
A real chance, not just say shit about the tattooes because his opinion differs to yours.
Just remember that we arent trying to protect anyone but ourselves, because what you guys said affected us personally. So we are biting back to that.
Yes, we are only 20 ,we had underage tattooes and are proud of them, not because of getting them done underage but because they are personal to us and are an expression of our inner selves that will never change.
"TATTOOS ARE ONE OF THE PRIVELEDGES OF BEING AN ADULT. WHEN YOU GET THERE, YOU WILL HAVE EARNED IT, AND WE WILL ALL RESPECT YOU WITH OPEN ARMS" -Daddy Rose
Shaun and I are both 20 and i dont see you respecting us with open arms!
Melissa, this is a public forum, therefore people are going to talk, and they are going to give opinions!!! I can assure you that the second any one of us jumps off of here, not one of us gives a retarded rat's ass what you or Shawn put on your bodies, or, as Daddy Rose so eloquently put it, 'blow your dumb fucking head off'!
Do whatever you want, you're a thousand miles from anyone's reality!!
TCE
Now was that really necessary?
Shaun,
What a fucking intellect you are. You posted your response to me 5 times. Get a little wacky there? Not sure I was going to see it? Little ADD?
Look you fucking moron. Go back and re-read what I said. The title of the post is about 14 year olds, teenagers getting tattooed. Not 20 year olds. You are a 20 year old. You are an adult. I could give a rusty fuck what you put on your body. And you Just agreed with everything I said while you figured you were handing me a toolin' there! Remember! This is advice for teenagers! Not you! And besides, when I wrote this post, I wasn't even responding to anything you had said at all... Where did you get the impression you had to defend yourself so violently? Are you a teenager? I thought you just said you were a 20 year old adul? So frankly, if you go back and read it again, this has precious little to do with your smarmy ass... this is directed at every self-important, egocentric teenager who has come on this forum time, and time, and time again asking the same old tired questions about "why can't I" and "I want I want I want". THAT's who myself, Taz, Doc John, TCE, Jason, Krystof, and everyone else who replies to these 14 year old posts are talking to. Not you. So, you wanna fight? Fine. We can do that. I'll go around with you on this topic for a few hundred posts if that's what it takes. No biggie. Hopefully I won't be blown away too soon by your infinite life experience and exceptionally fresh takes on the maturity of today's teenagers. But what the fuck. You wanna dance. Okay. I'll be your girl.
And Melissa, yeah, you're right... Us dumd older folks don't really live in today's world... your world... right? this world that all you teenagers seem to understand so well and make up for your lack of experience with this "Crystal Children" depth of intellect that you all seem to be born with. So, I guess we're just gonna have to leave this whole "information age and society" to you since we don't understand it... oh yeah, except for the fact that we developed it, and oh yeah, except for the fact that I teach it every day to self-important, entitled little "crystal children" like you... I'll throw my ipod down against yours any day. Oh wait a minute... You said your 20 as well... I guess that would make you an adult too, just like Shaun!! So I guess after all this, this advice really isn't for you either, Star child! Because (knocking on your fucking forehead with my knuckles to see if anyone is home) this advice is for 14 year olds getting tattoos... not you.
But to both of you Gen Y intellectuals, I'll just say this. You've done nothing in all your ranting and raving to prove to me that 14 year olds should be allowed to have tattoos. Sure some 14 year olds are smarter than some adults, but with this reasoning you think tattooing should be the domain of 14 year olds?. That's called a red herring arguement. It's a flawed comparison. It does nothing to prove your point. Nice try.
Al,
Don't waste your time with these two.......................I don't even know how two people of legal tattoo age got in the middle of this.
Now, 2 year old Cody(remember the toddler who wanted a tattoo?),
I can understand.......................and I gotta give the little guy credit, he made a strong case.
Melissa stated that she 'was with Shawn'....................well, NO SHIT!!! If you're with him, you're with him................because you're still idealistic rather than realistic!! After you've each lived another 20 years, the world will beat what's real into your asses, and then maybe you won't agree on so many things.
One of those things is that the people who pay the 14 year old's living expenses are not going to hand over control of the world to them. And while their bodies are their own, The governing bodies are not going to give them a say in who can legally tattoo them.
The reality is that fuckers are starting to serve jail time for tattooing a minor, and soon enough the word will start getting out, and there won't even be many scratchers who are gonna want to risk that.
You guys don't have to crawl away and hide, but don't expect for one second that those of us who've already lived twice you're life span are gonna ever agree with you on this. Trust me, each of us old timers knew we were old the second we realized we no longer gave a shit what people your age think!!!
TCE
And now, Shaun and Melissa, it's a whole new day. Should we agree to try to have coffee together and see if we can understand each other a little bit better?
I'm game if you are.
Al, DAMMIT, you nurturing paternal mother, you! Don't give yourself a bleeding ulcer..........
Oh, it's Shaun......................Shaun, Shawn, Sean,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,who can keep up? My bad!!!
TCE
Im game. My simple point was as the last couple of posts have pointed out that we are 20yr olds who did not regret our underage tattoos.
That was it. We are not saying its right or promoting it.
We just got offended that you stereotyped all underaged tattoos to be a regretful thing that would be covered up later. Because we 6 yrs later still adore our tattoos.
You know something Melissa? As I look back over your original posts, I'm not sure you and Shaun were actually disagreeing with me at all originally, it might have been that you had your original beef with MarioJ... Not sure. Hi Mario!!!
But I will say this... I'll give you credit for this much. Shaun is a puss. He cut and ran, after screaming at me about a bunch of crap that he didn't actually disagree with me on at all... You didn't. You are back. Obviously you have more balls than he does. Now. You've got some explaining to do, and some apologies to make. I've reposted direct excerpts from your posts so you can understand where the majority of the regulars on this forum are coming from. They include the following:
"What im finding difficult to understand is why any of you think you have the right to tell anyone else what they should or shouldnt do." Answer: Nobody has the RIGHT to tell anyone anything... but let me tell you this... add up the collective years of experience in life, and tattooing, on this forum, and I want YOU to tell ME what the point to this is.
"Just because your older makes no fucking difference, there are kids that make more sense than some older people, because they are growing up with the new world. Older people have little understanding of the world we now live in."
Answer: I fucking DARE you to try to explain this one. Go ahead. Give it your best. Then it's my turn.
"You really piss me off you really do. None of us are Almighty,
Finally, no-one has the right to tell anyone else what to do".
Answer: Well, you really piss me off too babydoll, because you profess that you are not condoning the underage tattooing of anyone, but the entire attitude of your thread is that underage people should be able to do whatever they want because, and I really love this part "there are kids that make more sense than some older people, because they are growing up with the new world. Older people have little understanding of the world we now live in." I'd like you to explain yourself on that one again. In fact, I'm drooling for my shot at your response.
Now, let me explain one last time why us dumb ol' fuckers feel like we have the right to comment on any of this... it's not a RIGHT, it's called COMPASSION, and WISDOM that comes with age, and the ability to look back. It has nothing to do with intelligence. Intelligence is nature, or not. Wisdom is earned, and you can't get it without time. Wisdom and intelligence ar not the same thing. Because despite the fact that you are lucky enough to be set and loving your underage tat, there are a lot of kids out there who will make the same decision you did and walk away with HIV, AIDS, HEPATITIS C, STAPH INFECTIONS, STREP infections, and a host of other stuff that has equally terrible consequences.... And I'm not even going to bother with the "thug-4-life" arguement at this point. This is it. We don't want kids to have to live with these kinds of mistakes wether it is their right or not, because there are some mistakes that will kill you. Though it may be your right to die from a dumb fucking mistake as a teenager, there will always be those who will be there for you and try to stop you because we want them to live long enough to tell us about their lives later. I live for the day when I can hear about all of your stories. You don't get any if you are dead. That's MY commitment to the young as a part of the HUMAN RACE.
So here's the deal.. Maybe it's not my right to tell you, or anyone else what to do... but I've made a choice. I'm not going to fall for that self-centered bullshit. I'm going to be a part of the human race becauses I love people. Nobody has to take anybody's advice, but when I know something, as a human being, I'm gonna say it.
Finally,
1. Fuck you Girlie. We CREATED the "new world" you Gen Y know it alls are reaping the benefits of with such a sense of entitlement. By the way, it's commonly referred to as "Information Age" or "Information Society" coupled with "GNI or Galloping New Ignorance".
2. Glad you love your underage tat. Good for you. You were lucky. YOU have no right to provide ignorant advice to impressionable, underage people when your narrow minded superiority can lead to choices that will could get them killed.
3. I admire you for your courage to come back on here and explain yourself in that last post. Though I still think you are full of shit, I think you have the right stuff to become the type of person who could be a really great benefit to the society that you will be inheriting. You have guts. And believe me, I don't take that lightly. Not everyone has guts. Especially, not these days. I also hope that you realize that just because I've been rather harsh on your responses does not mean that you are not a welcome member of this forum. You don't have to agree with me, or anyone else... But many of us regulars have all taken a beating similar to this. I for one have owed many people an apology, and have given it. I'm definitely wrong... a lot. Fortunately, I have these guys to straighten me out when I get all preachy.
And frankly, if you want a good example of somebody on here who is fairly young, and went through some of these same things on this forum, stayed his ground, learned some things, taught us some things and earned our respect talk to LEGACY. He's been one of the most intelligent and insightful people I've ever had the pleasure to go a few rounds with... and he earned it.
Al, you care too much............which is good, because that's what children really want.
TCE
TCE.....................aw, shucks.
Hey, did I hear you were having a daughter of your own?
You now what you are wrong. Not competely but you are still wrong. I got my tattoo last year when I was fourteen(a month before my 15 b-day). My mom,( who has said I could get a tattoo since the day I was born when I turned 14), took me to someone she trusted and made sure the place was all clean. I had to start thinking about my tattoo when I was 11-12. I decieded of a trinity. The style changed sightly but it was still the same thing. And I do not understand why, you think being 18 means your more mature. I know people who are in there 20's and Im much more mature then them. I do have to agree that some 14 year old idoits who dont think about it at all should not get tattoos but I think your wrong to saw that ALL 14 year olds should not get them because they arent mature.
Oop! Forgot to say (lol)
I couldn't understand a sentence that douche wrote..................
Al, if I'm having a daughter, she's not mine..............
TCE
OOOOOOHHHHHHH YES SHE IS.
Melissa...You are obviously a very intelligent, errudite and eloquent young lady but your wisdom falls a bit short in some areas....by your opinion EVERYONE no matter how old they are should have the right to make ANY decision they want....do you know what thats called?....ANARCHY!...The complete absence of all rules. CAn you for just a minute imagine a world where there were NO rules ....completely devoid of laws?...Think about it...kids would be driving cars at age 12...they would be getting stoned and drunk at 13 and THEN driving...I could go on and on ...but there HAS to be rules...face it kids are not all as mature as you were at 14...and its a fact that very few professional tattoo artists will tattoo minors because it IS illegal...the people who will tattoo them are usually
USUALLY not always... hacks working from their kitchens with substandard equipment and a total lack of training in this INVASIVE proceedure...THAT is the main reason we discourage the tattooing of minors....We have no agenda..its not a conspiracy...don't you think we would like the money from tattooing the hundreds of kids that come through our doors every year? Do you think we are being mean?....NO! we are trying to do the right thing Melissa.
The decision to be tattooed should never be taken lightly dear not even for adults...there MUST be a cut off poit albeit an arbitrary decision and for most the age of 18 is that arbitrary decision.
Just think about it Kiddo!...TAz
I take on board what all of you have said and agree mostly.
My beef started with someone telling me (no not directly but generalising) that because i have a tattoo from when i was 14 that it must be shit, that i will regret it and that i will want it covered up.
You are totally right that there needs to be rules, im not suggesting for one moment that we should have a world without rules.
I just get very frustrated when people try and force there opinions on others whether they are right or wrong. It in my eyes is bullying, give advice by all means but there has to be a point where you back off and let people learn by them selves.
Someone said that to learn wisdom takes time. Yes it does and in that time you have to learn from your mistakes,
It is really kind that all you guys want to help the younger generation so much, but i just think that you do it a little to forcefully. It is probably the most frustrating thing seeing kids who Yes a percentage of will regret the tattoo that they are ranting on about having.
I entirely understand the permanancy of a tattoo and the seriousness. I dont agree with people saying they "want a tattoo but what should i get"...i totally think it shoud be the other way round, that something means so much to the inner you,you want to express it, so then you get a tattoo.
x
Missin the whole fucking point!!!!...Artists who tattoo minors illegally are almost always without skill required to do even a mediocre job and do not give a flying fuck if they pass out AIDS or hep or mrsa....they are seldom equipped properly and seldom have the training necessary to institute and maintain sterile fields...
DANGEROUS!!!!
This is NOT about your opinion on ANYTHING!...its about public safety and when it comes to maybe preventing even ONE kid from contracting a life long and life threatening disease then I AM going to be not just a bully...I will be the hack tattoo artists wosrt nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't give a good shit about your opinion when it comes to the dangerous world of illegal tattooing....ignorance is bliss and you are obviously very happy. But thats ok while you are encouraging kids to put their lives at danger I will be doing my best to "bully" as you call it..."educate "as I call it!...TAz
your missing the point! one minute this thread was about how it was wrong for a 14yr old to get a tattoo but now you have changed it to how wrong it is for a tattooist to tattoo a minor.
We both have different opinions on both the subject matters.
Where i come from not many will wait to do anything, so rather than trying to stop the inevitable, lets educate them into thinking about the tattoo, then going to a good place, a safe place and the aftercare.
I know your going to bite back at anything i say but thats it, my opinion whether you give a flying fuck or not.
Well then I guess it's our lucky day! Because if this is your opinion, then the good news is, you are not a tattoo artist. So, all's right with the world!
Sorry star child! Teenagers making stupid decisions about getting tats, and scumbag scratchers that will tattoo minors because they don't give a shit are inextricably linked. I'm with Taz on this one one hundred thousand fucking million percent. I guess I'm just gonna have to continue to be a bully. I'll find a way to live with myself.
Confusion say: Wisdom comes with realizing what you DON'T know!
Allow me once again to be the voice of apathy........................TAz,
Al,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Melissa's got a better plan; we should just let kids do whatever they want because they just MIGHT not regret it someday.
If a child doesn't want to be educated, we shouldn't make them attend school, because it's their right to be stupid.
If a child doesn't want to go to the doctor and be vaccinated against whatever, we shouldn't make them, because they MIGHT not ever be exposed to the malady in question.
If your teenage daughter wants to go to school looking like a two bit whore, you should let her, because her manner of dress is her way of expressing herself, and there MIGHT not be some other kids in her school who are also stupid, and think it's an open invitation to express their own raging hormones. Or there MIGHT not be some perverted rapist combing the neighborhood looking for an easy target in need of an attitude adjusment.
We should let kids get tattooed, and if they're unfortunate enough to develop an infection and lose an extremity (which also MIGHT not happen), it's okay, because the child was well aware of the risks involved, and it was their own educated decision that led them to their demise.
Hmm, lets see, if a child wants assisted suicide, we should provide it to them because it's their life, and they should decide what suits them best.
You see, it IS a mighty great idea!!!! At least I don't have to worry about my own kids making the WRONG decisions.
TCE
Now who is being immature, why take it to the extreme, why generalise?
I said in relation to under aged kids gettin tattoo's that they should be educated as you cannot stop the inevitable. JUST RELATING TO TATTOO's
Once again why do you think any of you have the right to call all teenagers stupid. I was a tennager when i had my first tattoo done i am not stupid and wont have anyone tell me that i am. In your opinion i may be stupid but i am not.
Oh and TCE...
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.
I never said I was witty, and I am definitely immature...............and apathetic...............
I don't think you're stupid...............just too inexperienced to see the flaws in your philosophy.
TCE
.....................and I was a teenager once as well, and I was stupid!
I was 20 once, and I was stupid! I was 30 once, stupid! I'm 42 now, and guess what, I still don't know shit!!!! But I never realized how little I knew until recently....................
When you're young, you think you've got everything all figured out.
TCE
Melissa,
Are we to understand is that what you're suggesting is that, since kids are going to get tattoo's anyway, that we set up 'safe havens', where the underage crowd can go to get a tattoo safely?
If underage kids are determined to steal their parent's car's, and drive without being properly trained and licensed, that we should lower the driving age?
Because kids are going to somehow obtain alcohol and consume it, that we should lower the drinking age?
Because kids can procreate at 12 or younger, that we should provide them with private quarters where they can comfortably get their freak on? Or that they should be eligible for emancipation from their parents care at said age?
Again, I guess there just shouldn't be any rules, because they don't apply to those who are willing to break them anyway.
TCE
umm im seventeen and have been researching tattoos since i was twelve i found the one i want when i was 14 but my mum wont let me get it because she is a fanatical christian unlike me should i get a local artist i have known for years to do it anyways?

long, fucking drawn out sigh.
Nobrakes...you CAN read can't you?
Well then read the fucking posts above yours
STUPID SHOULD HURT!!!
BAD!!!!
See there now TAz.?. That question was so retarded that it didn't merit the raising of an eyebrow, much less a response. Goddammit, both you and Al are gonna give yourselves a stroke!!
The only reason I respond is because it's a game for me, and I love to piss people off!!! Remember,,,,,,,,,,,,,dopey truck driver,,,,,,,,,,,,I was made for this.
TCE
TCE, as god is my witness, and as much as it hurts me to say it.....
I think ya got a point here.
Allow me...................Nobrakes, I think that you should by all means go and get that tattoo, but first make sure you have another place to live when your mum, well within her right, kicks your ass out the door!!!!!
TCE
OK...
I am not stating that my philosophy is perfect.
I do not think i have everything all figured out, no-one ever will.
Once again, why go so extreme and take what i said out of its context and apply it to any other situation than the one i am referring to. No you are not to understand that what i am suggetsing is to lower driving, drinking.....etc ages. I never said that, so dont put words in my mouth.
"Again, I guess there just shouldn't be any rules, because they don't apply to those who are willing to break them anyway."
As a 42yr old man you would have thought you mite have matured just a little. If thats what you guess then thats fine, but thats got nothing to do with what i said.
Dont you find it a little worrying that you will repy to all my posts as a game, is that how much you value your life, that you will waste it by replying to someone who you dont care what they have to say. I am defending myself and will continue to do so..whats your excuse?? oh yeh "I love to piss people off!!! " Very mature!
Glad to see you've decided to wander into other threads.....
:)
Melissa,
Yes, as a matter of fact, it IS a game.........................exactly that, a game. The second I walk away from this computer, except for the people I've made real life plans with, everyone else is a computer generated entity. Hell, I could be making up YOUR responses.
What reason do I have to be mature? I've gone out of my way to remain responsible for, and answer to, only myself. And when I'm 80, if I live that long, I'll probably be the same way!!!
Do you think I go to bed at night thinking about this? I'm not wasting my life doing this, I do this a lesser amount of time than most people sit around watching TV, and I get much more satisfaction out of the interaction, good, bad, or indifferent.
TCE
To you it may be a game, but to me its entirely different.
Because what you say is personal to me, and maybe its just the way i was brought up but you dont talk shit about another person without good reason. Share opinions far enough, but not say stuff that is totally unecessary (which in my opinion, you have done). I was brought up to stand my ground and stand up for what i believe is right and i will stay true to that.
No i dont think that you go to bed thinking about this, neither do i, i would hope no-one does.
You last line is interesting *interaction* being the key word. Why cant you interact nicely.
What have i done to you, yes i spoke against your opinion because it directly affected me. But have i done you any harm? have i hurt your feelings? No not as far as i am aware. So why do you thnk i deserve to be treated like this?
Im not going to go away, so say what you want, i am mature enough to listen. However if i dont agree, i will let you know.
Take Care
....................and P.S. If life is too short to waste on my shit, why do you continue? Lot's of consistency in you words!
TCE
Jesus!!!!!!!!! 99% of what is said on here, whether it is about something, or someone, IS an opinion.....................an observation!!!!!! Maybe it was the way you were raised, but you take shit way too personally!!
Remember I said after another 20 years, life will beat what's real into your ass? Well, this is one of those things....................people have the right to express their OPINIONS, and really the ONLY things you can do about it are;1. get upset....................2. try to change opinions (which nothing you've said so far has changed mine)................... or 3. thicken your skin and forget about it. Either way, it makes no difference to me.
TCE
Because i was brought up to stand my ground and to never give up.
Now, Now, Melissa and TCE...
I'm serious when I say this. I think after reading this last exchange that you guys are actually at the point where you could probably be good friends if you wanted to. I mean, look, you guys are coming from completely different angles, and you don't agree on anything (I don't agree with much of what you are saying YET either Melissa... but I'm still game) but the tension between you guys is like palpable. It's kinda hot actually! The combination of you two guys just about makes a perfectly balanced entity. Now, sincerely, I think you guys outta kiss and make up, and agree that some kind of wall has been broken, and now you can see stuff a little differently. You are both hard headed little fuckers. That could make quite a nice team.... Aw, c'mon..... shake hands..... it ain't a win or lose thing.
Melissa, get over here, TCE get over here... Now shake....
And on that note, my allotted morning TV time is over.................
Toodles
My issue was that something was said that personally offended me and i dont back down from that. I stand my ground and fight for what i believe in.
I am perfectly happy to accept other peoples opinions. And in many cases agree to dis-agree.
x
Wow! I've been reading for hours, and i'm just halfway thru the thread! I'll get sacked if i'm not careful, then i'll have to go back to tattooing! (big grin, and much respect, fellows!)
What wonderful people there are on this site! I'm enjoying the human interplay, the stress and harmony of personal interaction... o they are so going to fire me from my marvellous job putting temporary graphics on pieces of newspaper.
I have nothing new to add: yes, a tatt you get at 14 MIGHT be fine, and MIGHT turn out to be something you refresh and renew in your 20's. Or, it just might turn out to be a piece of crap that either looks terrible, or causes your arm to rot off. As a wild man with a streak of caution, i'd say, with others, that it's always better to wait.
Personally speaking, i have one ugly scorpion on my arm, which i keep to remind me of my mortality. And i keep another scorpio-symbol on my other arm, which still looks fantastic, and i keep it to remind me that miracles DO happen. You just can't count on them.
The only case in which i'd give a tatt to a minus-18 year old is if they're a dog!
(Just kidding! I read that thread, and i find animal tattoing even more gross that inking children!)
C'mon Al, you're holding up productivity here!!!!! Can't a guy just have a hate buddy!?! You know, someone you just LOVE to hate, even if you have no good reason?
I'm sure Melissa is just a GEM, but there's enough contrast to her that it makes her my perfect candidate!!
Luv ya man!!
TCE
Oi, headache........................and MY OPINION was that you would be here bright an early to come to the defense.................Now I guess that it's really not just an opinion anymore, is it?
Oh, Melissa, big fucking deal. We've all been personallly offended by something on this chat line a million times. It goes with the territory. Now c'mon.... Shake....
TCE: The opposite of Love is not Hate, it's indifference, so you must love her on some level, and so if you're gonna hate her, ya gotta love her at the same time... so C'mon... Shake....
Come on you widdle biddy widdy boody woody widdle boogie woogies...
Shake already.....
Hey TCE, you older than me? I thought I was about the oldest dog here?

Hey TCE, you older than me? I thought I was about the oldest dog here?
I am not your hate buddy, i just disagree with some of your opinions as mine differ, thats it. I dont hate you, i dont know you.
If you want to know more about me then ask anythign you like! if it personal thats my real email address if its ur usual style then im still readin and ready to reply. If you really oculd nt care less about who i am then, thats fine to.
x
Im not saying that its a big dela that i got offended, i live in todays society it happens alot!
But just because its not a big deal does not mean i am just going to back down. I stand and fight for what i believe in. Just the way i am. : )
Al, no way fucker!! TAz is older'n me................and Doc is older'n him.
But yes, despite my immaturity (no wife or kids, hee hee hee), I'm still older than you. Couldn't quite figure out what you was bitchin' about all that time.
Now, on to the OTHER thing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Al, you're actually a pretty smart fortune cookie to figure out the method behind my madness.........................Now if you will kindly do me a favor, and SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shhhhhhhhhhhhh DAMMIT!!!
TCE
Plus if we want to get technical TCE then its not bright an earlier for me is 16:44. x
Melissa, you're doing it again. We ALL live in today's society right there with you! How the hell did you somehow get the impression that you somehow have some kind of inside track on today's society? We All live in it.... ALL OF US. We're all right there with you...
And you've still got your little arms crossed and you are stamping your foot. But I do see you opening a little door there...
Are they gonna shake? The suspense is killing me!!!!!...
Yeah, well technically, on the other side of the globe, it IS bright and early!!
Now, if you will pardon me, I believe it is time for tea...............
TCE
C'mon TCE... Ya gotta admit, she's kinda cute, don't ya love it? Look man, stampin that little foot like that... She's gonna be pretty cool to have on your side, don't ya think? TCE and MELISSA VS. THE REST OF THE FORUM!!! Get your tickets Now! It's Awesome! We'll sell ya the whole seat, but you'll only need the edge!!!! Be THERE!!!!!!
C'mon dude, give her a hug....
No Al, we don't all live in the same society.........................She's 1/3 of the way around the globe............I'm surp..................ah, nevermind!!!
TCE
I will not shake with someone who attempts to mock me.
I did not say that i live in todays society ON MY OWN did i? Nooooooooooooooooo i didn't, i just stated that as i as a human live in this society that offense is hardly uncommon.
Yes i am on the other side of an ocean, hence its not 16:54 and not bright and early for me. :)
Al,
I meet what would seem to be cute girls every day, but at my age, the cute runs right out of them the second they open their mouths.
It would seem that we are at an impass here. If there's one thing I WILL say for Melissa, you could definitely chat with her...............if you were on the same page.
Maybe you and her, Al..........?.........
I dont think in my opinion that we would make a good team.
As TCE does not respect my opinions.
Aw, c'mon. Get over it you guys. I swear to god. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear you fuckers were married. Melissa, YOU'RE AS BAD AS MY WIFE. "I won't, I won't I won't... Now c'mon. He's a little immature, but he's handsome, and big hearted for an immature guy...
C'mon, give him a hug...... I swear dudes, I can't go to work until I see you guys hug and make up.
Look TCE how cute she is man, she just actually said NNNNOOOOOOOOOO... to me... ya gotta admit, she's kinda sassy like!!!
I respect your right to your opinions.......................but if I don't agree with them, I also have the right to my opinions. I suppose you believe Shaun respects your opinions only because he agrees with them, is that it? What if he didn't, and made it perfectly clear that he didn't? Would it then besome a case of HIM not respecting your opinions? How exactly does he disagree with you and respect your opinion?
TCE
"youre as bad as my wife" was that a sort of compliment..very sweet cause im going to take it that way..its the closest thing to nice anyway has really said to me since i have been here..
I wouldnt get through his crossed arms if i tried to give him a hug. I leave work in 30mins so i wont be back until tomorrow morning bright and early!
I am kinda cute? but more dirty if you really want to get into that :)
x
It was a compliment, although my wife doesn't love me anymore, I still love her very much, and she's one of the most goddamned hard headed people I've ever met in my life which is what's so endearing about her.
TCE: Dude, she just said she WOULD hug you if she could just get through your crossed arms, now quit being such a fuckin' palooka, you have a golden opportunity here. We all know you are the quintessential self-professed, self-centered bastard of the forum, but just for once, don't miss a golden opportunity here to make something good happen. It won't kill ya. Give her a hug...
C'mon TCE Schmookum Wookums.......
my arms wont stay open forever. x
TCE, you still on? C'mon ya dumb bastard!!!!
It's golden opportunity time!!!
Maybe he doesnt see it as an oppurtunity, let alone a golden one.
Its fair enough and up to him, i think his choice is made.
I can't,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I haven't yet gotten to the crux of how this entire thread ties in with another issue here.......................and as unpopular as I'm sure it will be, I may not get to it.........
TCE
I don't think he's on anymore, I know him well enough to know if he was on, he wouldn't be able to resist taking the bait....
Well That's it Kids!! Looks like I've missed my opportunity for today to live my life vicariously through you guys! You fuckers have stuck me with no life for today, so looks like I'm gonna have to go find one.
TCE, if you're not on, and you get back to reading this later, I think you should really look at Melissa's last half a dozen posts or so, because she's been really sweet, and I think she deserves better than to be left standing there with her arms out. That's just not cool. (Unless you are not on, then hey, nothing you can do about it for now, but you COULD fix it later if you could pull your pride out of your ass!)... So, dude, I think you are just gonna have to re-address this later.
I for one am gonna give you a hug Melissa, cause I think you are cute and irritating. Nice combination! And you did your best.... I like ya.
(Hug) Oh man. Nice bod.
aww Thankyou i can live with cute and irratating.
I appreciate your honesty. I will be back in about 14hours : )
You respect someones opinion by listening to them, taking it on board, thinking about it. Then responding in a mature fashion.
:) In my opinion.
Al,
I'm no longer a sucker for a sweet face, that shit has led me into a lot of really stupid scenarios. From here on out, I'm calling people on their shit, no matter how what the little man downstairs is thinking.................................because it won't be long before he's sleeping and leaving me to deal with the aftermath.
She still hasn't responded to a few of things I mentioned, and I can't imagine she would NOT respond.
Okay, fuck it, I'm just going to say it, and then you can all just kick me in the balls and get it over with.................................
I believe her take on the whole underage tattoo thing carries over into her decision to get married at such a young age. Now, I'm sure she loves Shaun, just like we all loved our significant others to an almost unhealthy degree (for those who've been there) when we were 20.
And I'm sure that everyone around her supports her decision, or maybe they don't, and that's what this boils down to. I realize that folks in the U.K. are much more mature and sophisticated than we here in the states are, but because I shoot a lot of weddings, I often hear about the ones that don't last long. Invariably, they are the ones who got married at a fairly young age, present company included.
I loved my ex-wife to no end before we got married, and I wouldn't have married any other person even if I could have. But 6 months into the marriage, I found myself very discontent, very depressed, and longing for my freedom, which wouldn't come for another 3 1/2 years and 50lbs of gained weight.
Our relationship deteriorated to a game of hide and seek. I deliberately worked nights so that I could be unencumbered to do whatever I wanted during the day, and then slept during the hours in the evening when she was home...................total avoidance.
The only reason I didn't leave was because I figured I had made my bed, and even if it killed me (which it would have), I was going to lie in it.
She wanted kids, which I still to this day do not, and my response would always be "Well, then you better go find someone else who does too.".................which finally did happen, thankfully.
The first year after a divorce always sucks, but I always knew that it was going to be the best thing in the end. Nowadays, it seems my life didn't even begin until after I got divorced, and at times I forget I was even ever married.
Melissa, you think you're mature and that I'm not...............but trust me and everyone who post's regularily on here...............a lot of us have experienced more than you. If you've read enough, you'll notice that some people on here are in situations that may have looked promising at the time, only to do a complete 180 in the course of 9 months or less.
I'm not saying, and it is not even my OPINION whether or not you should do anything................everyone needs their own experiences to draw upon. I'm simply drawing a connection between your support for underage tattooing, and that you're engaged at such a young age. I support people's right to do whatever they want, when they're of legal age, which you are. And even marriage is not as permanent as a tattoo!!!!!!
TCE
TCE, I love ya man..
However, in the spirit of family, (and believe me, that's what I've got Taz for is to call me out on this stuff when I'm being a bit out-a-control, which believe me, I have been a few times) and we all need family. Family will tell you when your are being an ass. Melissa was trying really hard with you... and you are a being one pig-headed sonofabitch. I don't agree with her on hardly anything, but she's got spunk, and she's reachin' out to ya. You are a fuckin' dummy. That said,
Much love man! Have a cool day...
Which I just did...................that's as good as it's gonna get for now.
Maybe I'll take a hiatus and let her get aquainted with the less hard headed.....................I'm spending way too much time on here.
Luv ya too!!
TCE
You guys are so caught up in the crap that you got away from the whole point....Tattooing on minors ...I don't care how cute or mature someone is it is irresponsible to encourage underage tattooing because of the dozebs of reasons listed above and everywhere else on this forum.
TAz, baby..........
I just tried to tie all of this crap into that one point..........buy my book!! Available on a post above.........
TCE
Tim...by the way the toms are 12,14 and 16 inch...the snare is good...as of now it just has what came on the set...I have been wanting to install some hydraulics though...your advice?Oh yeah I think its a 22" bass but I am gonna have to measure ...plus I have a badass set of mikes...cost about $1500 for the mikes!!...T
See? See? Taz just kicked me one I think!
Now, your not seriously gonna go hiatus over that stuff are ya?
Al,
Whattaya mean, pull a Sh-un..................cut and run? Fuck no!!!
I will tell you this though, I won't comprimise principle (whatever that happens to be) and just sweep shit under the rug for a cyber hug halfway around the world; or around the block for that matter.
By posting on this forum, we all make ourselves public figures, and like all public figures, our opinions and views make us each a target for criticism, satire, etc. Melissa's just going to have to face it, and quit taking everything so seriously..............................In this country, a persons feelings are not protected in the Constitution, or the Bill of Rights.................nor should they be.
And, I mean, all we can comment on is what her and Shaun have given us. But it's okay buddy, you can still be the good cop, I know you love the women folk.
TAz, I have a buddy who has a box of Evans Blue Hydraulics...........maybe I can grab some from him. I think they sound a little thuddy for playing live, especially on the toms. But everything else sounds cool!
TCE
TCE, what drives me nuts is that sometimes these threads come in out of order... I didn't even see that last long post of yours before, so actually, I have no idea what it was in response to, so that's always frustrating. (The one about being married, etc)
Now I'm all confused. I have no idea what that post was about, though I do have to agree with damned near everything you said in it...
I just wish I knew what I was agreeing with...(lol)
Al,
You better read back a ways then.................I was simply observing in Melissa a propensity for doing adult things sooner than later. This in no way implies that she and Shaun won't remain happily married, just as they've remained happily tattooed since 14. Plenty of middle age people get married and divorced in less than a year too, so again, it's only an observation.
I feel that her defense of one has something to do with the other. It's no skin for me one way or the other, but there do seem to be an awful lot of struggling young single parents out there, and it doesn't seem like the best way to start a child off in life. Love doesn't pay for food, diapers, doctor bills, an good education, or a host of other things I'll hopefully never know anything about.
I may be completely off base here, in which case I really don't care, because it's not my life, and I'm done discussing it.
TAz, I would suggest pinstripes or clear ambassadors for the toms, and a super kick III for the bass drum. Pinstripes will give you more durability and longevity.
What was the cymbal situation?
TCE
By the way, TCE...
Not so sure I love the women folk so much anymore in a blanket sort of way... for just the reasons you listed in that last post... besides didn't you hear about my ill fated encounter with the Tattooed Belly Dancers and their website?
We be good like dat homes. We be good like dat.
Al,
I don't hate women........................I am just through trying to understand them as a gender. What they typically want is not anything I have any interest in striving toward, so to me they're just another point of view. Sometimes we agree, most the time we don't.....................and sometimes, we meet in the middle for about an hour or two, which is more than enough for this old man!!!
TCE
also, not that it's any of my business, but the cymbal situation could ONLY be Zildjian.
You're right about that Al, I can't be seen playing anything else...........................them peeps is my homees!! Daze takes good carra me!! The Only Serious Choice!
TCE
Finally, TCE, and I'll let you go to work for a living, but I wish you would have told me that you were trying to figure out women as a gender, cause I could have saved you about 42 years of headache. Heres the secret to understanding them as a gender: There is none. And if you figured it out, the rules would just change.
Work..................for a living? Surely ye jest!! Play, maybe.........
I said I was DONE trying to figure them out. Actually, I was done about 4 months after I got married (16 years ago), when I DID figure it out, and that IT wasn't something I was interested in working at. Now that I know what IT is, and that IT isn't what I myself want, I know that I and IT are not compatible. It's (not IT) very liberating, really, because now I just look for women who only want 'it', and not all the other IT. It's a beautiful thing, 'it' is.
TCE
Al, Dammit, don't post your responses to me on this thread anymore.........I'm not opening it again. Go over to the new one.
TCE
Tim I love you...thank you for ending this slow assed thread!!!
For every one else just find the new thread we are ignoring this one from now on!!!...TAz
I wil not be getting married at 20, yes we are engaged but that is more of a commitment thing rather than lets get married now. It will be a long engagement with ground rules, that i had finished my education and that we had lived together for atleast 2 years :)
"I'm simply drawing a connection between your support for underage tattooing, and that you're engaged at such a young age."
I do not support underaged tattoo's, i do not encourag underage tattoo's.
But it happens and not everyone regrets them.
My issue was with you guys that if you have a tattoo at 14 you will regret it, well no i wont.
I AM 14 . I LIKE 2 PAC N IF HE LIKES 2PAC DEN SO WAT! DONT PICK ON HIM, WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT TASTE IN MUSIC AND IDOLS TATS WAT ,MAKES US ALL UNIQUE!
P.S. DISLEXICA IS A PROBLEM THAT SHOLUDNT BE MADE FUN OF! U "ADULTS DAT R SO CLEVA SHOULD NO THAT!
.. wow.. if you would've taken the time to read the entire thread.. maybe you could've posted something that was actually worthwhile.. kthnxbai.
I saw 14 years olds should be allowed to get tattooed. One yea i am fourteen and 2. i know what i want and i know i will not regret it. I would get a small sign on my wrist it would be the "logo" of a group of my best friends i've known since i was born we all agreed on the deisgn so we could all get it so no matter if im 14 or 18 im still getting it. If there parents are allowing them to get it then whats the problem?
alright, I agree.. young kids shouldent have tattoos.. it's not right, i mean i'm a kid still at 17, it's on you for life people, 14 year olds just shouldent have tattoo same goes for any other ages other then 18 and up, the reason the age is there is that people hope that a person matures at the age of 18 and would consider choosing the tattoo wisely, not just a joke tat.
oh and by the way, fuck all you haters on tupac, fucking joke clowns, dont rip on him if you havent read a thing about him or know what hes about, before you say hes dead and tell me to get fucked and grow up, take a look at what he stood up for, he believed in kids on the street gettin a second chance, before his death he planned to start up his record label makavelli records so that he could get kids off the street and interested into music, not just drugs and stealing stuff, this man was a true ledgend, he never backed down and stood up for what he believed in. so like i said, before you tell me to get fucked and diss tupac, read up on him.
Im 15 where could i get a tattoo in Massachusetts???
NOWHERE!!!!
YOU ARE 15 FOR GODS SAKE!!!
I got my first tattoo when i was 14....I didnt go to any crappy tattooist who sits in his garage and jerks off all day, but i did go to a proffesional tattoo parlor with excellent work..I didnt really look or act like my age so i guess they thought i was 18 or something.... they didint even bother asking for any identification lol. I ended up getting my tatt on my forearm and it turned out great but that was only because i thought of what i wanted to get since i was 12, i dont advise anyone who is under 18 to get a tatt but if thats what you want then so be it... just make sure its something that you want to stick with for the rest of your life.
one love.
Can we see a pic of this excellent professional tattoo done on a 14 year old?
I Can't trully understand how a parent allows their 14 year old child to get a tattoo. I have been doing tattoos for 23 years it will be 24 years in August 17 2007. I had a lot of parents come to me and asked me to tattooed their kids because they rather have me tattoo them then other person that doesn't have a clean studio or good skills. I have explained to the parents that not only I will not do it but also explain to them why they should not allow their kids to get a tattoo from any person even if they do the tattoo in a Hospital, the reason for this is a tattoo is something that you have do deal with and have for the rest of your life and what 14 year old person knows what their future will bring them. Today with all the tattoos hipe and all the rappers, rock stars, hip hop artist reggeton singers the kids want to be like their role models and get that cool tattoo I will like to tell you please think about it stop seeking for that person that is willing to tattoo a 14 year old kid because I know that what is cool today for you tomorrow it will not be and even older people grow out of tattoo and end up covering them up or removing them and if you don't find a license person that is willing to do your tattoo you may get a tattoo by some scratch artist that may scar you or your kid for life and then it will end up costing you a lot of pain time and money to fix it cover it up or even worst ending with some sort of devastating skin condition and some people that are not familiar with the tattoo industry equipments inks and how to use the tools will end up hurting you or your child Please wait until you are much older and legal in where you can truly find the perfect tattoo that best fits you or your child make it something that really means something for you or let your child pic one out when he or she is of age a 14 year old kid has no place in a tattoo studio getting ink on them trust me I have my boys and all of them now are over 18 of age and they are glad that I did not let them get that tenage mutant ninja turtle when they was 14 years old.
Its all been said before
No and I mean NO professional tattoo artist will tattoo a 14 year old.
yo boy u will wine lika bit-ch. i promise you it would be lots of blood of urs, little sweat of ur artist, and lots and lots and lots of tears of urs.
peace
I didnt get anything extravagant, i only got my last name on my right forearm with some nice font...later on on my left arm i got a cross with a banner as well as a psalm underneath it....im not really sure how to post pics on this forum because im pretty new here.. but when I find out how ill be sure to post em.
one love
To post pics on this forum...read the thread at the top...How to post pics...Jeesh!!!
i think they should be able to get tatoos under 18 because thier parents dont need anouther thing to feel bad for. like what if the tatoo gets infected or if the teen gets a blood born desise? do u think the parents want to have the burden on thier shoulders that they were the ones who let their kid do it in the first place?
Well all you people saying NO professionals will tattoo a 14 year old you guys are all wrong. I am getting a tattoo monday and im 14. There is a guy that works with my dad, that guys brother is a professional. Go to http://oldecitytattoo.com Its one of them. You can see all there work on the website. Im not going to say which one because i read a couple people earlier saying that they want to report them to get them arrested. Yea sure mayb he is just doing it because its his brothers friend. But hes still doing it.
If for no other reason your post is one reason professionals should never tattoo underage kids under any circumstances. Cause if they ever do, chances are pretty good the stupid kids dont have the brains to not go onto the internet and tell everyone. And that is the last thing any artist or studio needs, stupid kids telling the internet that they tattoo underage kids.
NO professional with morals or ethics will tattoo a 14 year old...its absurd.
I can't see any respectable artist doing a 14 year old. You're still a kid for christ sake! I reckon you shouldn't go out and get a tat until you really listen to your mum's (or any significant person in your life) ramble on about how you'll be stuck with it forever, and you should really REALLY think about it. I wanted one at 14, and my mother went on and on, and my mum, for such a short lady, and put the fear of god into anyone. Needless to say, I remain tat-free (for now anyway). I think when you really take on board other people's advice, and truly understand the implications of getting a tattoo, and still want it done, then your ready. And then you have the maturity to decide on a design you will be proud to carry for the rest of your life, and you will have the ability to find a reputable artist who will only tattoo adults, and you'll probably have just a little more money to spend as well.
I didn't get one when I was younger, Im 21 now and I'm really glad I didn't. I don't think I fully appreciated what it ment to get tattooed, or the fact I couldn't just 'rub it off' when I grew bored with it. Now that I have waited, I have spent the last probably 5 years seriouslly looking at my options - I've decided on a tattoo parllor....well, I'm decided between 2 - and the design will be better than anything my measley 14-year-old-self could ever have imagined.
I'm not sure if this has been said already, I didn't read through every post on this thread.. but I know that a lot of underaged kids tattoo themselves.
My cousin was probably 15 when he got his first tattoo and he had his girlfriend do it. I think they did it out of boredom. He is still under 18, and has five or six that his girlfriend has done. They look like crap. I don't recommend "homemade tattoos"
You should learn the difference between were, we're, wear and where before you get a tattoo. Hope you weren't planning on getting some lettering.
NEVER NEVER NEVER! THAT'S WHERE.........
Im 14 and i have a tattoo.. i actually got it when i was 13... when you go on holiday abroud they will let you have a tattoo lol i got mine done in spain... they dont even hurt :D:D... ive got a small star on my foot.
Even though i don't recommend ANYONE getting tattooed when they're underage, I do have to admit that i have gotten quality work done on me when i was 16 (not gonna name the artist, but he's somewhere in Asia and i've been friends with him ever since i was 14..he's like a second father to me).
And yes, i do have pictures of them (although taken with webcam, since i don't have a camera).

I got a tattoo the day mah dad died i was 13 and i think its the best thing ive ever done.but i still took time and thought about it iand knew thats what i wanted to do.im 14 now and i have 5 tattoos its not stupid for teens to get tattoos if thats what they wanna do who cares thats there decision.and it doesnt matter what you people think..
But if your in school get a tattoo you can hide i got kicked out for mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok I am 16 and i do think that it is stupid to want to get tattoo at such a young age. When i was 14 that is when i wanted my First tattoo. I called around an no one would do it. They said not until i was 16 with my parents permission, i am 16 now and have yet to find the right artist or even the design that i want. We are only Just kids, very indecisive kids for that fact. So to have the mind set that you should get a tattoo at such a young age its really stupid. I Know a lot of the tattoo artist up here and They would still not tattoo me just because they know that i am very indecisive and so are all the kids my age. So don't think for a second that you NEED one, you might want one but you don't NEED one. It isn't nessesary for survival.
I am 14 and i know before and after reading all of these posts that im going to wait until im 18.... but i know what im going to get, i might get one at 16 but not sure yet. They will be of my mom who passed away a few months ago from lung cancer and the other with be my company and regiment when i join the marines. Any input of when i should do it and where?
Mike
MAN ALL YALL PEOPLE'S ARE LYIN SO MUCH!!! I AGREE WIT NEGROPLEASE CUZ IF YOU WANT A TATTOO GET IT BEFORE YOU END UP ON DA STREETZ. IM 13 AND MY MOM IS TRYIN TO GET ME A PLACE WHERE I CAN GET A TATTOO!! WELL GET A TATTOO WHERE IT WONT STRETCH OR WHATEVER BUT I KNOW IM GETTN ME A TATTOO AND I DONT CARE WHAT YALL SAY!!!!!! LAMES!!!
where can i get a tatto
i agree with the 16 with parental permission but 14 is too young. i got my first tattoo when i was 16. my and my dad got the same tattoo as a father son kind of thing. i dont regret it one bit. who are you people to judge how responsible a teenager can be. its their body why do you give a fuck. jus tell the kid where to get the ink done and stop bitchin at him. god.
Probably some crackhead's basement! No real artist would tattoo a child that young. Just a choppy shop. Is HepC and HIV worth it? Wouldn't be a smart idea.
If I got a tattoo at 14 god who the fuck knows what it would have been, probably a swastica. I'm glad I waited because as you will see people change alot and the person you are at 14 will hopefully not be the person you are at 18. At 14 I was a punkass who thought he knew the world at 18 things have changed quite a bit
fuck yall im 13 and ill get what ever the hell i want so if you think im gonna give a damn what u think u can suck my hairy ass nutsack
Every 1 who's talking shit about teens getting tattoos... fuck off... I'm 14 & i got a tattooo that represents my family (cherries & stars wit my familys birthstone)... My doctor personally told me theres almost nmo chance of me growing.. But im a girl an i've had my menstrual for 4 yrs ... & i do appreciate art.. I actually did alot of research.. & i believe it all depends on the maturity level of the teen & whether or not its acceptable in your house hold... every 1 i know tells me im mature for my age i feel strongly that i made the right decision. &&&& fuck you if you dont like it... I'm 14 & im tatted!!! =]
Go commit a crime and you'll probably get one in Juvi.
if your not 18 you shouldn't be tattooed. at 14 you think you know everything but unfortunately you dont. the people who tattoo KIDS should have their hands run through a meat grinder then shot repeatedly with a nail gun just to finish the job.
The obvious solution to this problem would be to make all of these kids pass a spelling test before getting tattooed. The problem would solve itself.
Well I was forced to reply, not because of the subject, but because of all the immature little tough 14yr olds trolling this forum having a holier than thou attitude who think they have all the knowledge in the world on the matter and giving teens a bad name.
All of the older folk are passing on their knowledge of the subject. You spit in their face and say how 'mature' you are getting your idol tattooed on you, you might as well get tattooed "I am an idiot" across your forehead by the way majority of you are sounding. :/
If a place will tattoo you at this age, all the possibilities will have to be considered, you pay for what you get, and if someone is willing to intentionally ink a 14 year old, they are going to be dodgier and more unclean then your 2 dollar hooker.
And if you are viewing life the same way as you did at 20 to what you did at 14 you aren’t learning or growing up and will most likely still be very immature.
I am 16, and I have a tattoo, only because I am very mature for my age, and look like I am in my twenties. It took me weeks to finally pick the tattoo design, which meant something to me, and pick somewhere where I could cover it up if needed, and still have it of large size (Inside of my arm). I grew a beard and bluffed my way through them asking for I.D, it is one of the better tattoo businesses around my area, so I got a quality tattoo out of it with a very low health risk factor. But it doesn’t stop there, because they did such a good job, and because I know the risks they unknowingly took, when people ask me where I got it, I just refer them to another state and say it was a small town that I can’t remember the name of, where the laws are more lenient. Because there business being punished for my eagerness to be inked is not very mature and is selfish on my part.

Poop...sad to say that you are no more mature than the rest of the 14 year olds that you are bashing. Only a few weeks to pick out a tattoo design? I would think a mature person would take at least 6 months. Your not cool for BS'ing the artist either. The artist was just dumber than you and fell for your shit thats all. A good reputable artist will turn down a 98 year old man without an ID (i'm figuratively speaking but you get my point). If this was your first tattoo how would you know what is supposed to be right and what is supposed to be wrong? Granted there is alot of info on the internet but when you walk into a shop the internet isn't there to "guide" you. I would think a mature 16 year old would make the mature decision and wait till he/she is 18. I'm going through the same thing with my very VERY "mature" 15 year old niece right now. She thinks that just because she went to a couple sites on the internet she's more than able to make a decision that will affect her for the rest of her life....its just a stupid way to think but i was 16 once.
I'm not sure this question is appropriate for this particular message board but it is in regards to underage tattooing.....my daughter went off to college last week for the summer (17 years old) and got a tattoo from a parlor in BFE near her college. They didnt ID her and apparently didnt care how old she was. She hid it from me for a few days but now that I'm aware of what happened I am absolutely furious that someone claming to be a professional artist would tattoo a minor illegally (NC)!! Do I have any recourse? Can I have the artist arrested? Don't get me wrong - I dont have anything against tattoos (I have 3 of my own) but the laws are laws for a reason and people that break those laws shouldnt be allowed to put ink into other people's skin!!! Can someone help me?!?!
Hell naw!!! 14 aint too young to gat at tat ...Im 14 and i got 2 tats!!! Why on earth would you get tattooed at a flea market??? Do you really think their hygienic standards are all that high?? I strongly suggest you go to the free clinic (for you tattoo bargain shoppers) and get checked for Hepatitis. If the Child and Youth Services of your area knew that your mother was taking you to get tattooed at that age, you wouldn't be gloating. I'm going to have to agree with Mary on this one! I think you should have to pass an elementary spelling and grammar test to get tattooed. I know you want what you want, when you want it. But, if an artist will knowingly tattoo a minor, you really shouldn't want to get tattooed by them. If they have no regard for the laws, they probably don't have any regard for health codes either. Not only will you have a crappy tattoo for the rest of your life, you'll have Hepatitis to go with it! I got tattooed at 14, and I totally hate it. My luck, it's going to be a pain in the ass to cover up too. I have never seen a good tattoo done on a minor. Please, please, please, kids, post the pics of your "sick tattys" so that we can get some humor from this.
Jesus Christ "Nikki". I hope you were joking. You really need to learn proper english/ grammer. You sound retarded...Literally. You will never be taken seriously talking like that.

I am 15 and I want R.I.P.- J.P.Z. on my leg. My dad passed away and I really want a memorial tattoo for him, I know Im too young but my dad is not something I think I am going to regret in the furture. I understand that I shouldn't get one at my age but it's not just some spur of the moment tattoo, I have been wanting to get it for almost 2 years now. I don't think anyone should get a tattoo that doesn't have meaning behind it...tupac? are you serious?
i am 14 and i have done a lot of research on getting a tatoo as i want to get one but the only thing thats stoping me is if it will stretch?
like if i get a dragon style design which is what i want on my upper arm will it stretch? if it doesnt ill get one but if it does it would just be a waste because its perminant so if anyone could answer if it will stretch there?
my arm is farly big for 14.
send me directions please this is urgent
Okay, seriously, 4 years isn't that long.
I'm 16 and have been wanting a tattoo since I was 12.
And, even though I can legally get one with parental consent, I would never get one before I was 18.
Take it from me, you guys are freshmen, I'm a junior, in 2 years you change so much, more than you know.
I look at the freshmen in my school and have trouble believing I was ever that immature. And I'm sure the Freshmen in college feel the same way about people my age. And so on. You're too immature to get a tattoo...anyone under the age of 18 is too immature to get a tattoo, you'll just end up hating it when you're older, and unless you make alot of money and can afford to get it removed, you're screwed.
So, just, chill out and wait until you're 18, time goes by really fast once you get into highschool.

man, all you guys shut the fuck up
its their choice to get a tattoo at 14
its what they want to do to their body
if thats what they want, let then do it
14 year olds can't afford good tattoos. Most adults can't either...
yeah.. theres a place where i got mine in new albany. they pierce or tattoo anyone 12 or older. i got my first one when i was twelve so yeah... and they are VERY professional. i wouldnt go anywhere else.
While I realize it is probably a waste of time, I think it worth mentioning that while many states do permit tattooing/piercing of minors, there are also laws that state that if the child is too young, the parents can get into serious trouble with the law for allowing it., possibly even risk losing custody of that child. Personally I have a very hard time believing anyone who is a real professional would ever tattoo or pierce a 12 y/o. I know if I had a 12 y/o that came home with a tattoo or piercing, the law would be the least of that persons problems. But, I've been around long enough to realize you kids know far more about everything than we adults do.
Ideally, nowhere! If you're under 18 you're officially too young. I guarantee your tastes will change in just one year, let well alone the next 10, 20, 50 years! Don't rush such an important decision.
You guys are making such a big fuss about it. Fourteen year olds are old enough to make the decision if they want it or not (with parents of course) Honestly though shops will not do em'. You have to find a friend or somebody that will do it at his or hers house or somethinggg. Get that stick outta your butt and let em do what they want!!!

Mkay, well to start off, I'm 14. I do not have a tattoo and do not plan on doing so until I mature. (and obviously think it through). If you're so desprate to get a tattoo, pull out a needle and ink! haha. Or there's always the option of "homemade tattoo guns". I'm not going to be like the rest of these idiots and say you're stupid for wanting one because you're fourteen and to us they seem cool! Uhh-Duuhh! Anyways, Stfu talking about Tupac. Seriously this isn't a "Hate on tupac" website.
Honestly there probably will be a few sick minded twisted freaks that call them self "perfesional" and will do it for yah but I doubt that would be the place you would want to go. but anyways do what yah want kiddo.
look all yall should give us 14teen year olds a break. som of us do it for a reason i did it because 4 the memory of my cusin who loved tatoos. he died at 18 next to me so the least i could do is remember him 4 what he loved. Its call a memorial tatoo 4 a reason. just because were 14 doesnt mean we dont think about what could happen. Im an A B student that just got a scholar ship to a privite school and in beta club with the highest grades in my school and best athlete. We dont just do it 4 no reason there usually is a good reason. so dont be doggin on all of us. So i say if you got a good reason go head. Mine is from shoulder to shoulder saying forgive.
If nothing else, you should wait until you are of age so a competent artist will tattoo you. Fact: NO worthy artist will tattoo a 14 year old. If you loved him so much, wait and get a tattoo that does his memory justice. Don't get it done buy a hack who bought a kit off ebay and needs practice.
Ok, all of you are here to try and prevent us from doing something stupid, but honestly, you're comming off as unfair, ignorant, and rather rude. The teens on here are twice as worse. I have no tattoos yet, but I see nothing wrong with something timeless. A heart, a peace sign, the letter of your name, all fine. As for the growing, your wrist is finished growing, your hip bone is finished growing, behind your ear, ankle, and probably neck. But I'm not an expert, so I don't know for sure. A think a simple heart of your wrist is fine, and shouldn't be frowned upon. As for getting names on you, unless it's your own, it's tacky, tastless, and stupid, same goes with faces, though you shouldn't get your own done either. Pictures are around for a reason, instead of messing up your skin with someone else's face, mess up your skin with something tasteful XD Heck, even a skull. But untill you're old enough, don't get something major. I'm getting sparkles and stars on my foot, half a heart on my hip, angel wings on my lower back, a small design of vines, thorns, roses and my name letter on my shoulder, and a music note behind my ear as soon as I'm old enough, and if I regret it, I regret it, BUT it will be a memory. My rules for myself, never get a tat or piercing done for anyone else, no tats with names of someone other than your own, nothing from tv (spongebob, ect.) and no advertising. Also, get them for you, don't get a face of someone else though. I know someone who, a camp counslier, had a face on his shoulder, I asked him why, he said his brother had died, it was a memory for him. That is a tasteful tattoo because of the reason for it, but I would never get one done. Unless it's someone close to you, don't even consider it, idols included. But, it's all our bodies, if we mess them up, we mess them up. Personally, I'd rather wait a couple years and get it done safely and professionally then have some random one done in a cheap place and have it suck. Don't be too fickle. Wait a little while, two years is just 24 months, at 16, if you have parental supervission, you're ok, and it's better than 14. My own parents say they'll let me get one tattoo at 16 and see if I like it, then at 18, I make my own decisions.
Ok, I'm 13 and I really, I mean really want a tattoo... my parents think that I am moving too fast and they also think that if I really want to get a tat then I can get it, they just want me to keep in mind that I'm going to regret it later..
I see where you old people are coming from but what does it matter to you if we get something done on us, that doesn't have ANYTHING to do with you... It's not hurting anyone and it's simply a way of fashion.. (i guess i could say that) but I REALLY don't see what the big problem is.. were young.. ok but we are old enough to make our own decision right?,,, If what you people are saying is true then the only way to find out is if we get it done.. so until then I think you should think about what its dong to you... let me answer that for you NOTHING!
im 14 turning 15, i´d realy liked to get tattoed, ive been skating fore 4 years and love i have thought of this for a long time, i vant SKATE ORE DIE on my ancle , i know im not old enough but this is not something i want becouse it looks awsome, skating changed my life ! and just wanna like "show" my love to skateboarding and im willing to till im 18 but what´s THE BEST place to get this tatto, its a skate ore die as i sad but i want a picture of a brooken borad as well :P i know its a long time till i kan get it but just want know :P
That last post made my fucking brain hurt.
I have read many of the replies on here about minors getting tattoos. Let me start by saying I have never cared for them myself and have been very firm with my kids about tattoos and piercings. As far as tattoos go, it has always been that they had to be 18 and whatever they wanted needed to mean something rather than just garbage. My thoughts on the matter changed when my ex-husband died a month ago. My 15 year old is having a very hard time with his death. She came to me the other day and proposed the idea of a tattoo. She wants to have a VERY small Pink Floyd symbol on the back of her neck along with her dads initials and birth and death dates. This was something very special for the two of them and I have considered the idea as she keeps telling me that she feels like she is going to forget him. It's one thing to have just anything put on your body for the heck of it or because of a fad. It's entirely another to do it as a sort of therapy, which I feel is at this point something that will help her to cope with this tragic time.
Well your situation is very shitty. First off would like to say sorry for your loss. I personally see alot and I mean alot of people who get tattoos for lost family members and its been great for the coping process. The only suggestion I would make about waiting would be for the sake of there tattoos. A child in there pre-teens are still not fully grown. It could mess up the tattoo but there is always touch-ups. Personally if I was in your situation I would do your job which at this point is too find the cleanest, nicest shop in your local area. Make sure the work there getting done is perfect. I would also inculde yourself in this tattoo. Even if your not a big fan of tattoos it will help yourself and mean alot to your kids having you part of it. Good luck too you.
Taz is GAY!.....ilways find this loser commenting on somebodys shit!....Plus somebody told me you fuc*'d them up!
most shops will tattoo anyone 12 and up with parents I personally think that you should all worry about yourself and not worry about us 14 year olds having tattoo's it's our ink not yours.
Omg... DO NOT GET A TATTOO AT 14 MY BIGGEST MISTAKE!. basically ive got 666 & James on my leg. lucky its my little brothers name. Seriously wait until you are older. im 18 now and planning to get some of the tattoos covered. Really have a think about getting one. Who knows what you will want when you are older.
i would like to know about my son getting a tattoo nd were i could go 2 get it done he is 14 years old
If someone wants to get a tatoo. let them, if they are mature enough to try decide they want somthing, then let them get it.
If they end up not liking it, fine. I want a tatoo, and ill get one. Im fifteen, but that does not mean that i can not decide that i want my brothers name on my arm. What the hell is the big deal. ILL alwys love my brother. So who are you clowns to say that someone cant get a tatto, half of yall were probably high when you wrote your message anyway, how can you choose what i can do.

Ok so im getting my tattoo soon this might be alittle of topic. So im 14 but im getting my tattoo next year when im 15. I know im young to get a tattoo but i have a good reason to get one. First i should tell you what it will be its gona be a butterflie with the word freedom in it. I am getting this to show the closing of a chapter in my life. I know what ur saying what could a 14 year old know about a chapter closing in your life. However i beleave i know alot about this kind of thing from the age of 1 the the age of 9 i was in a abusive family. I have felt more pain than a person as young a me should have to go through. Like i said befor this tattoo with be a symbole of the pain i have gone through and lived through. It should all go by the reason for why the person got it. If they got it for somthing like o i just wanted it they shouldent get it.

im sorry i posted that twice my computer froze :/
it shouldnt matter. its ure choice. i no someone whos getting one this week here in MA.
well , yeah kids shouldn't qet tattoos but that's nobody's business to say otherwise ! if parents let them that's the parents problem and nobody elses !
k you are all saying the same thing, but did you ever think maybe some do it for tradition or for me example, my sister and I want to get one together. She is graduating soon and all we want in one small one on the wrist that says lil sis and big sis. it is something that is meant for us as sisters and she is young but the bond between sisters wont change, so i wouldn't see the problem in that.
I have a tatoo of a butterfly on my toe.. is relly cute and im only 14

Personally I think that 14 year olds should be aloud tattoo's, its their choice.. Im getting one, A small music note on my back im 14 and im definitely mature enough to make my own decisions..
To everyone saying this is stupid or immature to get a tattoo at such a young age..it's not I am a 14 year old girl from Florida that has written on my wrist "let god in" so someone, anyone tell me I'm some stupid immature teenager and I'm gong to regret this, because honestly I'm not..
I'm 15 and i got a tattoo, but i had a very good reason.I was addicted to self-harm and found out about the butterfly project.Wich by the way saved my life.I got an orange riddon/butterfly.it made me stop cutting. So under cercamstances like that i understand.but getting tattoos at 14 and under is crazy.especally when its a rap singer?my parents wouldve killed me before theyd let me get anything besides my butterfly. And they only let me get it for the simple fact of hoping id stop.
Anybody who says 14 or 16 is too young for a tattoo stay the fuck out of it. Its not your body so why do you care.Nobdy wants your opinions so stop fuckin commenting. I got my tattoo when I was 14 and it still looks good. Its not your problem just answer the question.
Can u please tell me where u get it i want one
