i charge $120/hour, unless it's really something fun, in which case it'll be much less.

Our artists charge between $100 and $150 an hour. Portfolio quality tattoos generally get a break.
Hey dez,I think it'd be great if you came Massachusetts for a tattoo.Make sure to let me know your in town and we'll go out for a drink.
maybe you can fix that piece of crap you sent me.
i'm just kidding, i apologize for dissing your machines. i actually mistook you for one of the resident jackasses and shit on you for that reason. i'm very sorry about that.
It depends, if its a piece i like it will be a #4 combo at harveys, if its something i dont like doing ul have to make it a super size meal.
I'm more interested in how many of you would still tattoo if you could NOT charge a dime to do it?
I don't mean like would you still tattoo if you weren't properly trained. More like if some ungodly act made it impossible for you to make money tattooing , how many of you professional artists are really still passionate about this art? Not passionate about making the "scene" better or more socially acceptable, not about getting that huge waiting list of clients, or owning that new shop in that city you'ev always wanted to live in , or being a part of a huge convention. I wanna hear how you all get all warm and excited inside just to tattoo , just to do it one more time. And who's in it just for the dough and the lifestyle. No judgements just curious.
From my experience, people wont get the status or $$$ if thats their goal. Of course there are exceptions, but I hang with a lot of A listers and they all do it for the art. I might not hang with a real sample of the industry, we tend to work with like minded artists. Sure, they make some money, some more than others, but they all do it because they have to. I also know plenty of tattoo artists who hope to work primarily in fine/lo brow art more as they get older, some who plan on giveing up tattooing to just paint. Tattooing takes a lot out of ya, and after 15-25 years I could understand artists wanting to work in an easier more flexible medium, especially after they have a rep and can move original artwork...
22 years and still kicking!
jamies all about the bling bling. coin kaching.
$100/hour, and yes, I would still tattoo for free if I was in that financial position. But until I can afford Jamie Cross's 14k gold spinning rims, I have to charge.
Nice try krys-"dollar chaser"-tof, the secrets out.
(to folks who dunno western mass, Im very kidding)
Cool Krystof. And I've read alot and looked at alot of the work that comes from the guys you associate with Gabe. I have to say I like not only their individual styles but also their mind set. Every single one of them usually talks a bit here and there about how they push one another to do better and better art, and how they've helped one another achieve a desired look or goal with tattoos. That's one of the things that you can't really put a price on and it does say alot about their passion for the art itself , not the money.
yeah, for all the !@#$holes in the biz we're lucky to work with a lot of nice guys. I blame all of this on my whacko left wing tendencies. Be nice and work hard for people and you end up working with nice people who work hard. So, while I know there are artists that do it just for the money and fame and whatever, but I dont think we work with any...
Treehugger.
Just kidding
i suck and im really expensive. ; )
I keep reading that and checking my account balance.
