I'm thinking of getting a tattoo. Have been mulling it over for years. One thing stopping me so far is the idea of pain. I'm a chronic pain patient, and over years of being on pain meds, I no longer have the ability to produce natural endorphins that usually help people manage the pain experience, so I have a very low pain tolerance. I'm on methadone for my chronic spinal pain, and most days it barely scratches the surface of the back pain, so I can't count on it for any further pain management. Methadone also thins the blood a bit, so I bleed a little more than is usual.
The area I'm thinking of getting done is a 3"x 2" area on the top of my left forearm, and eventually something on my right shoulderblade area, likely about 4"X4".
What do tattoos in those areas feel like? What does the experience of being tattooed feel like?
Also, I am in the Kitchener/Waterloo area of Ontario, Canada and am looking for a good, experienced, talented artist to work with in that area.
What does it really feel like?

feels like sticking a butcher knife through your ribs, and then sawing back and forth.
