Why is it that everyone has to take simple ass questions people post on here and ALWAYS put people on blast avoiding there orriginal question? I'd bet that most of the people preeching to others about not learning on there own...dont work at or in a shop & most likey heard about this website threw a flyer they saw at a tattoo shop. This website holds many great values to help people out in the industry..for those who just enjoy tattoo's to those who enjoy giving tattoo's. If someone post's an extremely dumb or "out of line" question..then yes..slam em to the ground and hope they will never return to this site..but i'm truelly finding this website to be more of a "Best of craigslist" type site..when people have serious questions..there will be 3 replys..but when someone has a "general" question..theres 71-100 replys of bashing...gabe..i'd rethink your forum pages as out of hand as it is for you..this doesnt help and only generates hate.Help people out once in a while. It's like telling an over weight 8 year old that he's always gonna be a fat loser his whole life..how will that influence him to lose weight..it wont..but if you say..hey heres some tips.....it may help change him..For those who are learning on your own out there..keep it up.

Nothing has happened to this site. All laid out in the first admin post from 2005 titled "Read before Posting".
By the way if your learning on your own you shouldn't need this site right?
If any forum gives any information to people learning on their own it will most likely just give false confidence to someone who is not paying taxes, rent, insurance etc. Empowering someone who most likely is not qualified just starting to realize while "learning on their own", or they would not be asking for help.
Those people you admire learning on their own put the whole industry at risk. One outbreak from a succesful TATTOO PARTY could put a band standing politician in a position to put responsible licensed shops out of business. Then all you would have is illegal "shops".
Good point and finally someone who is well spoken. I do not admire any "learn on your own" tattooist and where i'm from..tattoo parties is a 6th degree felony..so that's all on the host of the party....and the tattooist who is putting it on.A risk i personally would never take.I'm currently at my 4th tattoo shop but i do have my own views..and yes i do agree that if you dont own any artistic skills..no..stay away from the industry. But i stand by Joe Capo's view on this subject. There is endless learning to be picked up at in a licenced tattoo shop like steralization aspects but i do agree with the free info..but can you see my point twds the bashing that goes on here?
Your quote anonomous:
To all you people learning on your own...keep it up.
Sounds like admiration to me.
Yes alot of bashing. Its an open forum.
Yes forum topics could be cleaned up a bit. I'd bet it has at times. Its open and I can't imagine there was not alot of spamming and improper advice that has been edited over the years. Thats work that the moderator has enough to deal with.
New topic posts go to the top, catch the next poster's eye and fan the flamers.
They can be entertaining too else they would not be replied to.
I wouldnt consider my "quote" to be an admiration but more of a "Boost Of Confidence" Kind of like a person learning to ride a bike..yes i do like to help motivate people to conitue doing what they want to do..unlike most that only want to DIS courage peope..thats how i am boss.So to repeat myself..NO..I do not admire on your own..well actually i do joe capo is phenominal.
I'd love to have more time to facilitate this form, and cut down on the self learning BS a bit. I work very hard to produce two events a year that help people become better artists and tattooers, so anyone who says we aren't about responsible education is full of doo doo as is anyone encouraging people to learn by trial and error. If you cant get an apprenticeship your artwork probably isnt as good as you think it is, or you might have to consider moving if you are that bad ass and there really are no opportunities where you live.
