What is dry healing?

5 messages · last activity 8/15/2010

I've seen a few posts here talking about "dry healing" a tattoo. What does that mean? Is it just not putting lotion or anything on a healing tattoo? Is that a better way to heal? Faster?
Yes- dry healing is caring for a tattoo without any lotion or topical cream.
No, it is NOT better or faster. In fact is takes twice as long to heal. The shop I am at will not give free touch ups to dry healers.
I'm following my artist's instructions like a good little client, just curious :) If it takes twice as long to heal, why do people do it that way?
It works for some people. So artists have different methods. Some tell you to use a&d, some say aquaphor.
