What is the best tattoo ink out there?? black- outline? and Color inks?
Scream ink is amazing ... the best ink out there if your having problems tattooing that ink will solve it all !!!
I say Squid ink for those kickass tribal... Tribal Armband! Tribal Armband! Tribal Armband! Tribal Armband! Tribal Armband! Tribal Armband! Tribal Armband!
don't listen to these assholes, everyone knows that you must pick the squid yellows, and reds, and the scream greens, blues, and browns. get it str8.
I really like Intenze, mom's is pretty damn good too. What ever you do DO NOT touch scream ink, you might as well piss in the ink cup if your gonna use that stuff.
You should not be tattooing if you don't know the answer to that question. There are many reputable pigments that will help a professional artist produce a great tattoo. I personally don't stick to one brand, instead, I prefer certain colors from different manufacturers. The following are solid brands: Starbright Dermaglo Stable Intenze Millennium Iron butterfly Kuro sumi National
anyone try skin candy? i bought some. not having much luck with it. the tokyo pink is great, but everything else so far has been shitty. maybe they'll heal nice, but i doubt it.
heres an interesting one. no ink is the best ink, or it would be the only one used and sold. for the first person who said scream ink, thats rediculous. scream ink doesn't make you better at tattooing, and i think you should quit giving people advice, because you dont know what your talking about. my advice: don't use scream ink. its dull, everytime ive used it, it wasn't any good, and its real pasty. i would say starbrite would be a good choice. the color is normally real vivid and has a good life expectancy, assuming the collector has practiced proper aftercare.
we recommend scream here at tattoonow due to it's fatasticity.
To squash any confusion, TattooNOW doesnt endorse any inks... We do endorse macs, however.
big macs?
i guess justaprick doesn't know sarchasm when he reads it
seconded.
hard to tell sarcasm from a comp. screen. some of the things ive already seen on here have fuckin shocked me so why stop at scream ink?
Guys i just bought scream ink " BLACK HOLE " ... anybody ever try it before ? We usually use iron butterfly .... let me know.
The new Skin Candy Tokyo blends And Kabuki Black's are amazing. However like dude said up top there isn't just one brand of ink that beats the rest. I like Starbrite's yellow and whites, then I prefer mom's blues and greens, and also Intenze, Stable, Dynamic, & Fantasia colors. It's all about the artist bro. I mean I've seen so many forums asking what's the best ink? what's the best ink? for days, and there is really only one answer for that and every real artist will tell you this, THERE ISNT A BEST INK. Cause what ever goes in good for you I may not like, and whatever I may recomend to u umay not like.... And about Scream ink, It's the same shit as MOM's EXACT SAME
Hi , What would be the best ( reliable) place to order Starbright ink ? Thank you :)
i would recommend www.newyorktattoosupply.com thats were i order my inks from
skin candy is garbage.
Has any one tried Prizm ink from Superior, What was your thoughts on it.
try classic color! i like it, they got some good ink
SCREAM ink is pure shit in a 1oz bottle its called scream cause thats what the customer does at you after thier tattoo heals like shit and looks 30 years old after 2 weeks i use many different colors from different companys mickey sharps, intenz ,iron butterfly perma pro and today i got my first batch of moms millenium inks
Anybody who works in this industry knows that only through time and experience, trial and error will each person find their favorite colors of each brand of ink. Every artist I know, including myself, builds a customs set of inks for their use cobbled together from all the well known and reliable brands including: Starbrite, Intenze, Eternal, Millenium, Dynamic, Stable, Waverly, Skin Candy, Classic. That's just to name a few...BTW...I've been using the new Alla Prima black and i love it...anybody out there tried any of the colors yet? And i almost forgot Silverback is a kickass greywash set. Just my opinion..thought I'd throw it out there.
to the person who asked about prizm ink from superior tattoo....that ink is complete shit. it is very very dull. it's cheap so it might be good for someone to practice with but i would never put it on a customer. i personally like mom's ink, it's never given me any problems and all of the colors are very bright.
I've found that most of the Eternal colours are brilliant, with the exception of light red, light purple and the yellows are great for highlighting but shit for solid block colour. Intenze black has to be the best black I've used so far and I've just started using the Starbright colours which, so far, I've found worked brilliantly, the white has to be the best white out there!!!
I find starbrite is really good. When I first started tattooing I tried prism from superior tattoo. That ink is complete shit. None of it sticks.
Thanks for the honest answer humbletat. here what I discovered so far: kuro sumi ink is great if you want the fadded japanese look (look at books on japanese tatoos), The black turns blue, I hear talon turns a little blue, Skin candy japanese ink too & fades, The only one that stays true black is "Intenze Zuper Black" but it is thick chalky shit - your have to use lots of vaseline to wipe it off the skin. Skin candy pink does not stick nor there light green but the bellbottom blue is phoenomenal, Prizm & Intenze white did not stick. skin candy white kept a fadded egg white look even after 3 coats. Stop being stingy w/ the info guys! Tell us what brands have the best colors that stick & stay true! Otherwise don't reply & waste our time telling us the diffeance between ink & pigment terminology nonsense!
Classic Color Systems Tribal Black. It seems too thin at first, but is so easy to put in, wipe, and clean up, and it stays black and beautiful. The white is almost too easy to pack in and heals fast. Their bright Yellow is the only yellow I've ever used that I can see immediately while I'm working, and it's blinding. They have some other nice colors, but those three are hot.
com'on boyz..... If you've been payin' attention to the the first 100 people you've worked on; has anyone & or anyobody that ever called you back took care of the tattoo to begin with? So,heres my limited 18 yrs exp. all ink can work in the the right medium i.e.needle size, tat style and client skin health. it's a crap shoot some where between good needles(1st) Decent and concistant ,skin flow, a little luck and the experience to notice the ink actually penitrating or repelling the individuals dermis within the first 2 or 3 minutes. It is trial and error per person some black stays beautiful some doesnt.remember, each person is different just the same as the design you are are appyling. Yes I know that this is not a direct answer but be patient dont be affraid of trying old-er trusted brands such as national tattoo supply electic blue is muted on some but go slow for opt' brightness(beacause you can still buy dry pigmnents in bulk and disprese accordingly you can be the judge ) 0r adding brighter highlights fom starbright like canary or lime, just dont ever mix with new brands over all with other brands they cause problems for most. do so in seperate settings if ness.
intenze ink is what all of us at lucky 7 use and a little eternal
I TEND TO USE KURO SUMI OUTLINE INK AND THERE GREY WASH FOR THE COLOURS IS STICK WITH SKIN CANDY THEY ARE TOTALL BRILLIANT I ALSO USE ETERNAL TRIPLE BLACK FOR TRIBAL AND ETERNAL LIGHT PURPLE AND ORANGE I ALSO YOU PRO COLOUR BLUE AND BABY PINK HOPE THIS HELPS
as an apprentice i've done allot of research, i put allot of work into my craft. so stop asking questions about tattooing. work and learn like everyone else, and if you can't take it...don't. our shop uses intenze...and each artist picks from other brands. Not one company does everything well. Ink is a knowledge you get from putting in the hours.
This is a great thread, thx for all the info. So what i have learned is that there are many different good inks, and it varies from the artist what they like to work with. When i want to try different ink brands, then what is the best to test them on (exept humans) :-D
I can't attest to it personally as I don't tattoo, but I can say the large majority of our 60+ tattooers at the shop use a combo of intenze and eternal. I've also seen a few people starting to use Alla Prima. But thats more of an observation than opinion.
Hi there, Can anyone tell me if they use Intenze on the face?
Hi there, Can anyone tell me if they use Intenze on the face?
Hello guy`s its very interesting topic and i need some help with the ink. So I need advice witch one is THE BEST Black INK? i know that depends of the colour and etc but im asking for specified colour i need to get the BEST BLACK INK. So here is what i want...... im from Bulgaria and i know few good artist here.. they are very good but i can`t be sure what kind of ink they use.. do is good or do have much more better ink and etc.. Because for example when i ask him he telling me yes this is a good ink. So depends what mean good! The Ink can be good for him because he didn`t test alot diferent brands and in this moment he can think that this is the best ink for him but on the same time to have some other brand inks that he ever didnt know they exist. So i need help and advise from peoples with long expirience, because the tattoo i plan is very serious tattoo all of my hand with Skulls and Wariors the tattoo i want to get is Black ONLY with some shadows of course for this reason i WANT TO FIND out witch one is the best BLACK ink on the market i can buy it by myself and just to go into the Artist and to tell him i want to tattoo me with this black INK, because im sure that the tattoo will be perfect made but i want the black colour to be very cool and also to stay long in the years.. If you can help me will be great you can write me at [email removed]
india ink from da art store
best ink is made from melted inner tubes with piss mixed in for sterilization. this his how we do in russia
i enjoy easy glow, and classic, quiet.
starbright is shit. intenze and eternal are king!
waverly is where its at my friends.
moms millenium are really bright, havent had any problems with fading.
starbrite and eternal are the best hands down eternal will not fade
I was very pleased with the skin candy uv ink. I am experimenting with inks, I started with the skin candy, some of lighter pigments aren't holding after they heal, but the artist I apprenticed under swore by moms ink.
i have to say i think scream ink is good for shading but not so good for outlining...im not an artist but i do love to get alot of tattoos and i have a variety of inks on me from skin candy to starbrite and kuro sumi and i have to say i think skin candy and scream have the best blacs for tribals...
Hi all, some good tips and suggestions on here. I'm looking into tattooing and was hoping someone could tell me if Kuro Sumi tattoo outlining ink is a good option for ink ? I specifically want to get into tribal tattoos. Cheers
Kuro Sumi tattoo outlining ink is not a bad option the ink seems to flow in nicely! However there are a lot of inks on the market and like mentioned by somebody before what ink may be good for one artist may not be good for another my advice to you is to experiment and find out what ink best suits you!
Kuro sumi is the best for black i got some intenze colors commin tho i gotta check out
kuro sumi is great for outlining and greywashes, their colors are dull, at least the ones ive tried especially shikon purple andtheir reds look like mud, but the outlining ink rules handsdown (not the double sumi black! the Outlining black is good)(kokai sumi is a knockoff and heals blue, which is good if u want it to lookold) Classic bright greens are good, but their brite red and blood red never stay in no matter how hard or soft your running. same with classic yellows and oranges. for red i like intenze. for white starbrite. i just tried out iron butterfly blood red and i wasnt impressed with how it healed. im on a quest for a good red that flows, and doesnt heal pink! any info thats based on actual experience and not paid endorsements would be greatly appreciated!
I've really only been Too'in since October, 09, I started with starbrite and have used only starbrite to say it is the shit I would say is a farce. I can see how the struggling could want to blame an ink. I would have to say that your technique is the problem, look at what you doing and until you can with absolute certainty say it's the ink then for sure let us all know cuase if it sucks all should be aware, perhaps if one of your clients turned florescent glowing green and grew a third arm, that might be good knowledge to have. For all that approve of the inks they use/wear I'm glad that all has worked out for you. I do although have a question, other then fading what are other problems had with inks? Fading sounds to be either a skin problem or depth problem, I've had ones I swore were in, and they almost disappeared, all a depth issue. Did one twice and after the second time the guy told me he does concrete work, it's on his forearm. Sounds to be a skin issue, I don't care how bad you suck at tattooing you out ink in a gun and rub that damn thing all over someone it's going to leave a mark, and for it to all fade off? TWICE? Since October I've done over 100 too's. I now have my lic. I'm looking for a shop or a way around this, I'm a merried parent of two girls. I own a home, to pay for an apprenticeship is not an option for me. I know how much yall hate people like me, I'm doing what I can to keep true to the practice. I like drawing, to get paid to draw. I have nothing more to say about that, if anyone would want to see what I've done I have a few pics on Myspace - myspace.com/mikewelchii, I would appriciate any comments on what I've done and will do I have some cool ones coming up. Thank you, Mike
ive been tattooing since i was 12 years old,im now 50! from proven experience i can tel you 99% of the time a problem with the ink going in and staying in,is the artist not knowing how to lay it! they seem to forget, while they are into the art, that the ink WILL NOT flow uphill. You MUST keep the skin TIGHT and its all about plucking and tucking at a 45 degree angle with clockwise circles if your right handed. the other 1% has to do with the ink.
I would like to say that everyone likes to bullshit a little and there are times when these forms get kitchen hacks trying to hone their craft off the backs of us that have paid our dues deep in the trenches I have bewen tattooing since the mid 80s I started in the joint with a guitar string and made it up to a Superior travel kit which worked for me to get my feet wet then I met Sailor Moses on a freak chance at Troipical Willies once and he gave me a great tip (Son you will only be a great tattoo artist if you sleep live and breath this lifestyle) now I must say it was rough and still took me years but then came a meeting with Tony Ciavarro and Joe Capo that advisded me on total satiration and to talk with Guy Atchison on his color theroy well truth of it all is it is not the ink it is the hand and the technique I can and do use Starbrite,Waverly,Moms,National and my staple is Eternal I wouyld never turn my back on Tramp and his Product but I do stray for more color variation. I suggest all these people stop cutting corners and buy only reputable ink from reputable American dealers or it will be your Customer that pays along with your wallet.

Agreed with Fallen King Irons, he's got it right. Have fun learning ;)
Seems like you all have tried the rest now try the best, Irezumi Max. Made in New Zealand by a trained colourist for over 25 years, also a Tattoo artist for 30 years. www.mystic.co.nz
each brand will have something to offer, stay away from china sellers that copy other ink brand names, and do ur research before you try a new brand, i have tried several, started with starbrite, moms and skincandy for the most part i didnt like any of them, ive kept only a few colors of each that i have been happy with, my favorite i have found by far is fusion ink, thier colors are amazing and i have not found a white that goes in more solid and fast. i use most of thier base colors, the majority of ink i use is intenze or eternal. you cant base this off everything u buy but i have found generally with inks the more it costs the better it is. basicly dont try and save a buck when it comes to ur tattoo supplies! hope this helped.
Alla prima is amazing there color systems will make your eyes bleed. Also silver back black systems are flawless.. the great thing about these inks you have to prove that your a professional to buy them...
ok now, alot of you guys are rediculous. scream ink? whatr u buyin shit on e bay? i agree with a couple statements made about there is no best ink...theres deff a good variety of pigments from diff companies...and depending on the piece your doing theres plenty of choices. intenz and moms are for sure the most stable pigments out there but like all pigments there is deff a few shadey colors that jus dont seem to work out too well from any brand. (red) now that ive tried and used eternal inks i would have to say hands down best ink to use for colorwork. there all natural pigments and no reactions to the tattoos from any color. stay bold and bright for years as long as the collector knows proper aftercare. I use a set of primary 10 and have had no trouble. I dont see the point in these huge sets of 65 colors these guys are making....if u dnt know your color theory and cant mix ur own colors what are u even doing tattooing??
it's garbage. now go away, scratcher.
like everyone said it just depends on what works for you, ever great artist uses all diff kinds of inks. some inks are better in diff brands but it all leads to what works for you. and the guy that asked about prism ink. I would not use it again or buy it again. I have used it and I dont like it but it might work for you. right now im rockn Eternal and Intenze. fuckn works for me haha
Well I am new to tattooing and I appreciate all the views. I do agree that no ink is going to make you a better artist, I am starting this after 15 years of airbrushing everything and some days things just dont come together and work right, thats when you say have a break and get it together. I have seen from viewing forums that Intenze, Starbite and Sumo Kumi if thats spelled correctly are the most popular. As I want to be a clean artist and give customers the best quality and cleanliness the Intenze sounds like great Ink as well as the other two. Thanks for all the info!

I use Eternal and Kuro Sumi ink, the Kuro is the best lining ink ive used, The Scream inks mentioned are thin and watery , in my experience they have healed up in the same way , pasty , I dumped all my bottles of Scream for that reason , i wouldnt let my apprentice use them.................DONT PENNY PINCH ON THE INK............
Well the person above asked a question and got a lot of answers even the smart ass kind, which I'm sure he or she didn't need. We don't use Skin Candy, don't like the healing process of it. We use a few different brands, which are Intenze, Starbrite, Mom's, Kuro Sumi and Talens. They are great to use and the reason we use different brands is the color choices. We have never used an ink on a client we haven't first used on us to be sure of how it applies, stays and so forth. We suggest you do the same this way you do not offer anything you won't use. Saving money isn't always a good thing. Remember a good tattoo goes to a few but a bad tattoo goes to everyone! Good luck with you ink choices
hey... i have seen this far, by reading everyone's stuff, that eternal, intenze and kuro sumi rocks... i dont have a lot of intormation about "most used" ink, since i'm brazilian, but thank god i used kuro sumi for a while... it led me to HATE my now used brazilian ink. wich is no good, even for smaller works... as for greywash ink, i have never used silverback ink, but it seems to rock, as some preety neat guys use that. and its not really expensive so, i am looking for buying an ink set from eternal or intenze. so it would be much more affordable to me. wich one would you buy, intenze or eternal?
I havent read through this thread (i usally get pissed by all the bullshit) sp my reply would be whatever works best for you the tattooist,AND IS SAFE TO USE ON OTHERS NO TOXINS AND STUFF IN IT THATS IN ALLOT OF THE CHEAP STUFF.good luck
New formulated scream ink black hole pretty good, holds its color longer, easier application.
New formulated scream ink black hole pretty good, holds its color longer, easier application.
ETERNAL is what i like.... but really its all personal preference... what works best for me might be crap to you... all in technique and the styles in your artwork... its trial and error... hopefully not so much error..... goodluck
obviously the person using scream ink should put there machine down and walk away. There is not just 1 brand to use. pick and choose from brands i use different types. the number 1 brightest inks right now are fusion, eternal, intenze and starbright. learn more before you mess peoples skin up
The best ink i have found, and used has been intenze ink. The true black intenze keep's a dark outline, and it's great. The same with the coloring. It keeps good color to it with whatever color you use.
For me personally Black - intenze or Kuro Sumi , Colours Milleniums, Alla Primas and Star brite are all very good. I especially like the Alla Prima Systems - they are phenomenal! its all about what works for you as an artist though and which style you tattoo best in
Electric ink has a great white royal white ink shows as soon as it contacts the skin i love this ink there trible black and washes are great also pink is there only color i would say go with eternal on the pink other than that its electric ink all day! the are the only ink company to go through science testing and aproved with no plastic in the ink please try these inks my secret to the artist world !

wow, I wouldnt get a tattoo from any of you guys. I have been tattooing for 16 years. Different ink brands have different best colors... Dynamic-black, Intenze- Reds and yellows, etc. BUT THE OVERALL BEST INK IS PIGMENTS, MIX THEM YOURSELF!
Eternal ink is the best, we got eternal ink lowest-priced at wholesaletattoo.com
Is dragonhawk tattoo ink ok? can someone please tell me the best brands for black and grey tattoo's?
How well does WIZARD INK work? I hadn't heard anything bout it.
talens black for outline and solid black .. bye far.. intenmze colours are great

every answer here is wrong to tell the truth it varies from skin type and on the tattoo artist skill lever a real tatto artist is able to use any ink like i but if you just stick to one type of ink then you will not get your skills up lol
just read my post " rotton infected embarrsed " and do more research lots of negative flack about this ink and recal on this product whats up with that
stay away from prizm, i had it when i first started. it looked ok at first after 3 weeks it looked like krap i had to redo it moms, starbtight, there good to start with intenze is real thick, but you might like that its all on the artist what works for them. just get 1/2 oz sample set thats the best bet.... good luck!
To the guy asking about prizim inks, personally I like them except their whites and yellows. Greens, blues, reds, are good, black not so much. Whites are gone in a year or two if your lucky, Yellow you tend to get about 3 years at best, black turns blue pretty quick too. This is just from my experiance and the tattoo's i've done on myself with their ink. Kuro Sumi has damn good blacks, gotta go with intenze whites and yellows, Immortal has done the best FOR ME on all colors so far. Nuclear for blacklight ink. P.S. Black light ink is pretty good except that it fades a little faster than regular inks. mine is at two years strong so far, the whites not as vibrant as the others in the black light but its still good.
As far as PRISM is concerned.... ITS JUNK! I just started in the industry and they where my first inks. I must have gotten a bad batch, because NONE OF THE COLORS LOOKED THE SAME AFTER THEY GOT INTO THE SKIN!
You know, I get that folks just want easy answers, but you cant really get reliable tattoo supply information asking random people on an anonymous forum. If you go to the reputable artists and get tattooed by them, then you will get firsthand info on what inks the best artists use...
Scream ink is alright-but if I had it my way I wouldn't use scream ink. scream ink is light....and can be very light-I guess scream ink is okay if your looking for that very very very light color. lol. I am not hating on scream ink but it wouldn't be the first ink product brand I would choose. As of now scream ink would be the last thing I would purchase out of all the inks. sorry scream ink....I hope your guys ink gets better in quality. "From another artist that knows"lol
conducting a followup on scream ink is what led me to this forum yes i ran low on ink and thought screamink was a good idea not exatly cheep but the price was fair 100-150 tats lator 1 year lator i was not realy happy with it how ever it also ran low and i re uped with other ink ... sence i purchased a good size set of scream i was kinda pissed but it realy depends how its applied iv ben in this industry many yers and have learned a lot diferent inks take better than others its good to have a variety of inks they tend to have a excellant out come ...combined... to many here on this forum arent to happy with yea SCRATCHERS i was concerned about scream inks cause of the recal on some of there colors and was very concurned so i inquired and got stomped cause im a SCRATCHER and proud to be ! bottom line is u get what u pay for good work dont come cheep and cheep ink wont mke anybody a good artist I shure do hope my info has ben helpfull may the ink flow fo ya
speaking about inks and whats the best,no such thing yeah u get ur shitty inks, and my advice to u would be use whats working for you, theres alot of kick ass good inks out there. i,m a tattooist myself, selftaut, custom artist have been for many years, ive tryed alot of inks and i stick to what works for me and they are, starbright, eternal, kuri sumi, and skin candy black collection only, skin candy colours dont realy do it for me dude, starbright and eternal have always done a good job and worked well for me and still do..if ur having problams putting the ink in try looking at ur tattoo machines,if its a shit machine its a shitty job, And ive had alot of tattoo guns and what works sweet as for me is-alan dixon shader, small v sunskin liner, hoodlam karlof soft shader, hoodlam biomek (packer), those are some of the guns that work sweet for me
To the one who answered "You shouldn't be tattooing if you don't know the answer to the question" Well F*%k you! How are people supposed to learn if not by asking questions? I am just starting out and have similar questions of my own. The answers here have been helpful!
I personaly like eternal intenze and starbrite some colors from moms are good like there reds and oranges but I would recomend eternal stick with somethin good and honestly you should try different inks peoples taste are different no such thing as the best ink scream suck do not buy that cheap shit lol
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Alla Prima Ink! The red is out of this world, it takes like nothing I've ever tried before!!! Give em a try and see for yourself...
fusion ink is the best for nice bright color hands down
fusion ink is the best for nice bright color hands down
fusion ink is the best for nice bright color hands down
real tattooest that has 20 years in the game and had a real apprenticship can mix there own from powder pigments glycol and a few other trade secrets so get a apprenticeship and stop scratching because if you need to know whats best you are scratcher my shop is lucky lady tattoo llc richmond ky we make own pigments
Eternal is by far the best, waverly is quite good also they both heal really well.
prizm inks go in the skin great but have found the colour to fade fast, im using moms and intenze, but has anyone tried radiant, as i was thinking of trying some out.
Hey I have just opened my tattoo shop and I really dont know what to do about ink you all say differents inks but I was told your not suppose to mix different inks... Im worried about the inks I should be using now... :(
for those that ask the same question over and over again, there is no best ink. the ink depends on the person and how there skin takes it. some brands have colors that hold better than others while the other colors dont if you know what i mean. and as for skin candy, it has a lot of added ingredients that some people have allergic reactions to so you need to be careful using it. and stay away from the knock off brands. you want good ink you wont find it for cheap.
No single great tattoo pigment. This website helped me. http://www.Tattoo-Ink-Reviews.com
I've been tatted using kuro sumi outlining ink and my skin rejects it like crazy. My buddy recommended using night hawk from element ink, has anyone else used this one? What are the best outlining inks around?
