What is the significance of.....?

I was just wondering what the significance of an AK 47 tattoo (Across the mid-section) was? Also, what is the significance of the Word 'douce?' I don't want to get the AK if it's going to provoke a negative message.
I believe the AK tat was made popular (not really at all popular) Tupac. I don't think it's going to send out a "positive" message if that's what you were hoping for. The word Douce is actually not even a word. It might have been read wrong and it was spelled "Deuce", which is synonomous with the gang in the movie "Southside" but that's really the only significance I can think of. Gang tattoos aren't the best thing for potential employers to see (not to mention; law enforcement, your mother, real gangsters, etc). I wouldn't recommend getting anything like that, but that's just my .02 . If you want to get something ectremely meaningful go to a shop in or outside of your area with a good reputation that's clean and professional, and has great artists and sit and talk to them about it. I'm sure that you guys can come up with something that will mean alot more to you than and AK-47, and you'll be more grateful for your decision down the road. Good luck and keep us posted.
Whats the significance of the AK-47 to YOU?...are you in the military?...do you own one and love it so much you want it permanently tattooed on your body? Just think about it! The "douce" thing was probably a misspelled "deuce" which has numerous connotations some gang linked some not...again...what does it mean to YOU?...you are the one who has to wear it the rest of your life! THINK BEFORE YOU INK!!!!....TAz
I agree with these guys. Stupid Idea. AK47 is just a gangster thing tupac made popular... why? because it's a cheap, easy to obtain powerful assult weapon. They are originally russian in origin, but most people who own one, if they do, it's a chinese model. Not much of a positive message in there.
I think that the image of the AK also has a more political message, of armed uprising and rebellion. The viet-kong used it to beat the US army. It was also used by the nicuraguan Sandanista national liberation front. the sandanistas used the image of the AK as part of their icon. the image of the AK is also on the mozambique flag. That image has had a cultural signifigance even before Tupac was born. Personally, I think it's a pretty cool (but not original) tattoo idea. Just the other day I saw this old guy walking around with his shirt off with three huge AKs tattooed on his chest in the shape of an "A". I wanted to ask him about it but he was kind of scary... my 2 cents
wo, please post again. Good info. Very good post. But I have to disagree with what you said, in that I don't think any of the info you just gave sends any kind of a positive message... especially the info you just cited. BUT... Good stuff man!
lol... I guess it depends on what you think is "positive message"! but we don't need to get into that. Hey I just commented on a post you wrote in the thread about "sluts". I'm on to you, buddy!
The reason why i would get a Ak-47 tattoo is because of im russian. People who aren't russian get them because they think its some kind of gay thing. Also arguably its the best assault rifle. So they maybe in the army and have one so they want to represent one. But for people who are russian its kind of a russian pride thing like the double sided eagle
I have been thinking of getting an AK47 tattoo myself. Like some of you mentioned it can relate back to gangs, rebels, and viet cong. The reason I personally want one is because to me the AK represents fighting for what you think is right, rebel against an oppressing power. BUT i don't want to fly this flag when im at the beach and run the risk of getting stabbed or shot in the face by some krooked killaz...

For your information most AK-47's are Romanian and not from China. The AKs that are from China are actually descent but not nearly as good as the Russians. One may want to get an AK tat because of its significanse to being the most widely produced and proven firearm in the world...Also a good rule of thumb to live by is that if you are in doubt to getting ink done, or anything else for that matter than dont do it. Thats your gut! Good life and great luck.
^ your all right, all of these fake Ak's aren't as powerfull as the original Russian AK. The only reason i would get the AK tat is because i'm from Russian family... and it means alot to the country, Ruski's like the fact that they are big and strong...
Taz is right, "think before you ink". I guess that is why he is here asking, which is a good thing. Someone mentioned about asking around local shops. Maybe an artist has done one of them or several, and might have more insight. Just take your time in your research. I personally will not tattoo a gang related tattoo on a client. I have seen a shop burned to the ground for tattooing a "black fist" tattoo. Some people are stupid.
