What's the deal with Kat from Miami Ink

Okay i was just wondering what the deal is with Kat on Miami Ink. The girl has great skills, and can tattoo anything she wants, she's a great artist and everything, but I don't understand what her problem is, I think she is so rude, all she wants to do is black and white tattoos and things, No color?! alot of ppl like to get color tattoos, and she works in a place where ppl come in wanting color tattoos, and i mean people come in from all over wanting a tattoo by her if i was her i would treat that as an honor, all those people wanting a tattoo by her and just because it's color she turns them down and complains about it, I would proud to do it if i had the skills she has. And i would be so greatful for having so many fans that she has the wants a tattoo from me and only me. But i don't know why she acts that way, it's a job a great job. and you should'nt be so rude and so picky towards people.

She's a rude cunt...she's young...what can you do. She's just full of herself. Sooner or later it'll come around and kick her in the ass. She thinks she's better than everyone else. She's good at what she does do, but she needs work in other areas. Apparently she has said that she is working to better those areas, but I doubt it. She'll lighten up once no one wants to work with her.

okay guys if she likes doing black and white then why would she want to perfect color. she gets the money. if she wants to turn down people thats her choice. plus she has said that why should someone get a color tatoo from her when they can go to someone who is better at them. it makes sense you dumbasses. think a little

Yeah, an artist shouldn't be expected to tattoo color if they prefer to tattoo black and grey... they should decline professionally, but clients demanding artists change and conform to their style is a bit much... There are plenty of artists who do color or prefer to work in a diverse set of styles....

gotta agree. if shes good with black and grey and its the style she enjoys and is most comfortable with, then whats the problem. i would imagine the majority of people going to her do so because they have seen and enjoy her black and grey work as well. and if someone wanted some full color tattooo then that person clearly didnt research artists enough. its akin to going to jack rudy and asking him to do a full color guy aitchison type organic tattoo. why make an artist do something theyre not as well versed in, when you could easily go to any number of artists who would love to do the same piece.

I'm fine with someone sepecializing in one specific area if they are good at it, which she is. She's great at black and grey work, but she looks down on anything else. Either way, I just don't like her. She's a snob and a pain in the ass to be around. It's all about Kat...don't you guys forget that or ocn rockr will be mad.

There is no difference between Kat declining color work and Ami the Asswipe turning down a christian tattoo. Any artist ( if they are smart) will stick to their preferred style when possible and as Gabe said refer the client ( politely) to another artist who DOES the type of work the client seeks.

personally i think that because kat does have a skill, she can do whatever she wants pablo picasso [i think] said something like, before you break the rules, you must first learn them so it's like kat's already learned the rules, and it's her time to make her own image in the business if she doesn't like doing colored ones, hell, why should she do them? call it selfish or bitchy or whatever the hell you want, but it's not you and it's not your decision what she does so what's the point in all of this in the long run? are you going to somehow make her change her mind and do colored? or are you just provoking her to keep with her gut and not do colored peace bitch.

It's commendable that she's honest and admits she doesn't feel comfortable doing color. I can't understand why people get mad about this. I wouldn't want somebody who is not comfortable with color doing a color piece on me! Her style is black and grey, and that's what she wants to stick to, there is nothing wrong with that! She knows what she excels in and utilizes it. I wish all tattoo artists could admit when they're not that good at something?!

Just as with Ami...not that they turned down tattoos ...its the WAY they turned them down, every artist knows what kind of work they want to do and should never do anything they are not comfortable with, howegver they should always treat their clients with respect!!!

Well , still she shouldn't be rude to people or act like an ass, when you own a place like that its good to be nice or atleast act like it because if you treat ppl with respect then they return the favor and thats how you make money, you be a nitch or an asshole whos gonna want to give you their money or get something done by you, when they can go to someone who has resepct for them and what they like and want

with her comment of the tattoo being first grade and beneath her i would have done the same as chris and ami did out the fucking door!! but if she would have put it differently and more politely or even recomended another atist then matters may be different

I think its good to specialize in an area its really the most realistic way most artist will make any money. I did see her do a color tattoo on a friend on the show that came out very nice. I my self have been drawing, painting most of my life and more recently tattooing. My only quam with doing only black and grey tattoos is that it would probably after some time drive me nuts and i would feel very stiffled trying to recreate some ones elses photo over and over again. She seems to have that skill down so i dont know, i guess i would just more then likey be trying to challenge my self with something new

I've got this great podiatrist I go to cause my feet are always broken... so then recently i found out i needed some surgery in my brain and i went to my great podiatrist and she was like " maybe you should go to a brain surgeon" what a cunt.

Thats why Ami "fired" her. I don't know how else to put it, because the show said he let her go because of rising tensions between the two. We were gonna go down to Miami in October when we go to Florida just to get a tattoo there, but from what I read on the forum, if we go to Miami I'm going to one of the other shops mentioned in the forum.

She doesn't do the color stuff because shes "better" at black and white.. she doesn't do things because ..oo what was her words "thats kindergarten stuff".. she thinks her style is better than any style anyone else would like.. it has nothing to do with her comfort level.. its her ego

People, please calm down! The whole thing was a scripted publicity stunt! They probably all sit down over some drinks and brag about how well they pulled the whole thing off!

i don't know about the rest of you, but i certainly wouldn't want to get a tattoo by anyone who wasn't comfortable doin that tattoo and she obviously doesn't feel as confident doing color. i wouldn't tell da vinci or michaelangelo that they had to use a pencil if they preferred using oil paint! and she's not the only tattooer in the world so go get your color somewhere else or by another artist in the same shop. what's the big fuckin deal? do we really need something to bitch about that bad???i prefer tattooing color myself and often if someone wants a portrait in b&g i have no problem habding it off to one of our other artists. its just personal preference.
