I went to tattoo fest yesterday (against my better judgement) I'm not a convention type of person...and alot of them guys that were there tattooing were just really stuck on themselves,i had several make smartass comments...why ,since the world has went so main stream with this great art i love so much, has so many average artists become so rockstarish..listen artists and future artists you will never be to good to do that little butterfly or that tribal band that you hate doing...remember those are the people that pay your bills and paved the way for every artist in this world that started from nothing...Quit being stuck on yourself and be willing to entertain any idea cause that person will probably tell 10 people that you did..
Whats up with rockstar wannabe's??

Sorry didn't mean to post this twice...
and then they open up a shop think there shit dont stink there work just rocks when they in truth DONT KNOW A DAMM THING! as far as history of tattoo they have no fucking clue who some of the greats truly are.throw a add up for a artist and ya go there get treated like shit just like you have been. total lack of respect and a damm slap in the face of those true old time artist that help pave the way and put forth there effort to have tattoo a safe and beautiful art.i could go on and on but in truth most of these so called tattoo artist need to have there pie hole slaped shut and taught some respect.
I actually have to say I had the opposite experience when I attend conventions-the artists who are there usually nod hello, or just say hi-usually while they are working on people. I am sure there are the "rockstar" types but there always is in any industry and I personally find those who do that lack confidence and feel that having an "I am better than you" attitude is a way of making themselves feel better.
I honestly love going to the conventions and watching them work, seeing their ideas and art-some are great while others not so much, but they all have valuable information to share. I figure this-if they want to talk more or share info -great-if not-that is ok too-they are busy.
I have met some very cool people at these events as well as some not so cool---but I wouldn't stop going just because some of them are immature.
i dont think we are saying ALL of the artist are like this as i agree with ya jeanne there are a whole bunch of damm good friendly artist out there.it seems that theres a lot of the younger generation that just dont have any cooth or real respect or true knowledge of the history of tattoo.there are just way too many shops poping up that the owner is not a artist and has no idea about how the industry works has no respect for it along with there artist and they have the allmighty GOD ego.some of the art being produced today is just awseome but i am pondering how it will hold to the test of time.ive talked to several new shop owners and so called artist and not a single one even knows who Don Nolan is or Gil Montie or others.much less the meaning of most tattoos and there placement.
im guessing you went to a convention and asked for a tribal butterfly or the like. i see both sides of this. yea they couldve been nicer, but when top artists travel cross country or state, to be at a place where collectors can get to them , they are kind of expecting people to want what they are capable of, or else you can just go down to the flash road up the road for your tribal butterfly. if nick baxter or whoever travels 6 hours to go to a convention, and some kid wants a little ICP logo on his wrist .... you see where im getting at
First of all there was noone in nick baxters caliber there and no i didn't ask for a tribal butterfly i was looking for art...mostly..i live in a tattoo shop 7 days a week so i was not entertaining the idea of getting a tattoo and it aggravated them...
