where can i get a tattoo at the age of 17?

i'm 17 and i really want a tattoo. I've been wanting one since i was 15. my mom passed away when i was 10 and i've really been set on getting a tattoo in memory of her. i just want to know where i can get a tattoo in either massachusetts or rhode island. a lot of places say that you have to be 18. does anyone know any tattoo shops that will tattoo minors with parental consent?

I think most places will tatto you @ 16 or 17- some even younger- as long as your parent or gaurdian comes in, you both have photo ID, and your ORIGINAL birth certificate.

Pay no attention to the guy above me, you can't BY LAW in Massachusetts get a tattoo until you're at least 18; parents or not, birth certificate or any ID, you have to be 18 period. Believe me, you're better off waiting the few months and getting it done correctly in a clean professional establishment and not settling for the guy that tattoos minors.

if you really love your mom do what she would want you to do. wait untill you are an adult to make adult decisions.

IM 16 and got a tatoo at a good shop with a parent u can deffinatly do it

i live in the us and i gave my self a tattoo all u have to do is get some ink and a needle put the ink on your skin and push the needle in your skin with the needle (put needle in boling water befor using) and at the end wipe off the rest of the ink

As much as i may be hated on this site, i must say this... DO NOT GET UR TATTOO DONE UNTIL UR 18, trust me you will regret getting it done earlier. i know you want to do it for the memory of your mother, but im saying this for more of a technical reason, the younger you are the younger your skin is (not fully grown) anything you get done now will be stretched out and possibly warped in the next couple of years as your skin grows and streches out... THERE IS A REASON 18 IS LAW, this is not just government stronghold... there are medical reasons and proof as to why you need to wait till your older, trust me you will regret it...

in maryland and Pa you can get one at 16 with a parent or guardian perrmission that is the law

I'm not saying don't get it done because that's not my place to say. But I will say that you can get one done at 16, the only problem is that you parent will be sued by the government. But that's in the U.K. I can't say i know about the U.S. I'm 16 and I've got a mate who will do mine for me and i know he is clean and safe to go to. So if you do make sure that the person doing the tattoo is clean and is safe, and make sure they use the right inks.

Hey, look, this post wasn't created so you people could argue about the ethics of this topic. This kid simply wants to know if and where a tattoo can be legally obtained at seventeen in America. As far as I know, you can legally get one at seventeen (with parental consent) in Pennsylvania. Or you could get emancipated :P If you're emancipated, none of the 'you must be 18' rules apply here.

I think the legal age to get a tattoo should be 21. just wait until you are older.

You can get a tattoo in CT if you're 16 with your parent with you.
