Which ink holds the brightest colors

Hey whats up yall, I gotta question for some experienced tattoo artists. I browse the internet and look at some of the work thats being put out by Dave Tedder and lots others, thats super bright. Which ink do yall believe is the brightest and holds the best? I've heard Starbright, then I've heard Intenze, and some mix their own, I'd just like to know some more opinions and why. Also, does brighter colors fade quicker? What about if you went over the same tattoo twice, wouldnt it put more ink in? Thanks for any and all answers

Find an artist who's work you really like and that you find bright to your liking (like Dave Teddler) and just ask em what ink they use! If they think you should know they'll tell you! If they don't want to tell you, pay them to put a nice bright tattoo on you and then you'll have that brightest ink you are craving with you always! simple enough...That's what I'd do...That's what I will do when I get to that point on my path...I personally wouldn't be asking random strangers on a forum when I already knew exactly who has my answer simply by the bright tattoos they execute! the trick is to convince Dave Teddler that you deserve to know what ink he is using...It would make me feel great that someone whos work I admire decided I was worthy of sharing with...but that's just me...Sorry about hijacking your thread...maybe someone else will give you the real answer. Thanks for the reply. I kinda understand where your coming from. Yes, its nice to have an artist share with you his or her personal techniques....obviously you get to see what ink they're using, unless their are just secretive. But, why wouldnt I ask it up here on a message board just to get some different opinions??? I cant follow your logic there buddy. I mean, for all I know Dave might come up here and personally answer my question, or for all I know you could be Dave. Either way....Dave, and tons of other guys bang out really bright work. Different inks have minor differences and heal in different ways. Some companies make different colors brighter than other. For example, in my experince, I've personally noticed that I *believe* that Starbrights blue is brighter than Intenzes blue, but Intenzes purple is brighter than Starbrights. See what I mean? Maybe its just what I saw when getting tattooed, but its what I thought. Or maybe guys could go over the tattoo once with Intenze, then with Starbright. Sounds really stupid, but could make for some dope shit. It doesnt matter what medium your working with, colors are always going to be the same, in the fact that, even if your painting or coloring with crayons, you can do some crazy shit by switching brands and experimenting. Point being: I was just hoping maybe some guys who had experience doing this type of stuff could share adivce. Like I said, thanks for your reply. Peace

Like I said....seems to me, if the best way choose where to get a tattoo is to pick an artist who's work really blows you away, logic seems to follow that the best way to know which brands are the really brightest is to ask the tattoo artist who's work you find is the brightest....there might very well be some different opinions on a message board like this, but how do you verify each of these opinions? ...I can't follow your logic....why go for a dozen unverified opinions when you have 1 solid proven visual lead....besides, I'm inclined to agree with you that differences in tattoo ink brands will be minimal compared to the effect of the skills or technique of the artist applying them, so it comes back full circle to the artist who's work you admire being the best source of the info you seek. if you really want or have to know all kinds of ink on the market right now is good its just a matter of finding the right colors that work for you!!! ... except superior their shit SUCKS!!!

If your artist won't tell you what ink they are using find a new artist. I use the same brand on myself that I use on my customers, and thats millinium. Sinfully Skittlez

I think the big question is not what ink he uses. I think that the type of work,and the techniques an artist use for there colors makes a big difference. MOM,Starbright, and irezumi pigments are ok for colors. But Remember that its also going to be the artist thats doin the tattoo. i hate MOM greens. My Buddy loves the MOM greens. so after finding out what inks he uses find out what techniques he use as well. Dont get me wrong there are some really bad inks out there. but a good tattoo artist knows that too..

I find That Stable is bad ass but some don't like the thickness. Intenze is great Nice selection of color - less mixing. Starbright and Millinium are next in line. I have all colors from all of these sets and love them all. I have a few other respectable sets of ink and also use regular. PS Dave Tedder and Brandon Bond and Joe Cappo use one of the listed inks. Won't Say which but they will if you ask. Great guys all of them

It is my experience that a skilled craftsman with the proper needles, using the right technique can pound chalk dust into skin and make it stay as bright as anything else on the market. Most pigments these days are produced for "dummies" who can't put pigment in skin. So it is watered down to make it thin, then all kinds of garbage is added to make it bright and opaque...all so people who can't tattoo can get it to stay bright. Learn about the tools. Learn about the proper needle configurations and sizes. Learn about proper technique, and it won't matter what brand you use. It used to be a person learned to mix their own while they were apprenticing.

I'd say Intenze, Millenium, and Starbrite are all top notch pigments. I prefer the dispersion and consistency of Starbrite, plus they are sterilized (some aren't). I just hate that their bottles don't have twist caps. They tend to get messy if you aren't careful.

waverly ink is what all the big dudes use.

TO thick to handle. but when you know how to mix it, i bet you'll like it. anyway i never try perma pro before ?? anybody ?? ps. i don't like stable ink from soba pss. i don't like moms psss. eternal, waverly and intenze .. is my choice.

Ink is more of a matter of personal preference, tattooing style, and techniques that will determine what works best for you! Like the one guy said, you could put dust in the skin if you're doing it right. I've tried and used Millennium (Mom's), StarBrite, Intenze, Classic, Skin Candy, and ETERNAL. I don't know what constitutes a "Big Dog", but out of the hundred or so artists at the Richmond convention, I'd say 90% of them are using Eternal. I personally love the stuff and my entire shop uses it. It goes in smooth, great consistency, heals fast and bright! You'll have to be licensed to buy from them though! =0)

Why don't you just ask someone who knows the ink best because they sell them?? Ask the ink seller or ask a bunch of sellers, they'll tell you everything you need to know about the ink. :)

first of all the guys at miami ink use skin candy pigments and its the only inkpigment that miami ink and chris garver endorses so get your facts straight,and if your not a professional you have no buisness attempting to put ink in anyone in the first place !!! and on the subject of eternal joker and several other suppliers carry eternal pigments and you don't have to be licensed to purchase from them. so thats another fact that you need to get straight.the fact about what inks are the brightest is that there are many different makers of pigments that are great like classic,eternal,skincandy,perma pro, joker brand makes and has developed a great pigment with a nice neutral consistancy the fact is anyone of these pigments will be bright and work perfect for whatever effect your trying to achieve if you know what your doing and are using the proper machines that are properly tuned for what you are trying to achieve all the best tattoo artists I have ever known prefer creamier pigments that are a little thicker in consistancy and they will thin them out according to the effect that they are trying to achieve for each individual tattoo.there is no big secret to what pigment an artist is using and if he won't tell you then i would go somewhere else because i would want to know what is going into my skin and any tattoo artist worth his salt won't have a problem telling you the pigment he or she is using because they want you to know its safe and they also know that its not the pigment that makes them great its their skill in tattooing and their techniques.so hopefully this clears things up for you and if you are an artist that knows what you are doing and you have been trained properly and are'nt going to hurt someone you will just have to experiment with these different pigments that I mentioned and see which ones work best for you most times its a combination of several different types i myself use several different ones in combination according to the effects I am trying to achieve and the color I want so see what works best for you and try some different ones to see what works best for you. but like I said at the top if you don't know what your doing you should'nt be using any pigments because you could end up hurting someone !!!!!!!!!!!

i have been tattooing now for 34yrs and i still have not found a more durable or smoother ink that goes into the skin like national ink, its simply the best but thats my opinion. good luck

Garver actually makes his own ink!

Scream Ink from www.wwta2.com. It's one of the only organic pigments out now. A ink that dries like paint and flakes like broken glass (Intenze) should not be in your body. Think I'm pulling your leg. Test it for yourself. There colors are truly bright and fade 50% less then all other inks. But my belief is, the whiter the brighter. Dark skins make inks hide there true vibrent potential.
